About ENGIE

Our group is a global reference in low-carbon energy and services. Our purpose (“raison d’être”) is to act to accelerate the transition towards a carbon-neutral world, through reduced energy consumption and more environmentally-friendly solutions, reconciling economic performance with a positive impact on people and the planet. We rely on our key businesses (gas, renewable energy, services) to offer competitive solutions to our customers. With our 170,000 employees, our customers, partners and stakeholders, we are a community of Imaginative Builders, committed every day to more harmonious progress.

Context :

As part of its Risk Management & Market Access services, GEMS has developed a number of tailor-made/structured Power & Gas supply agreements (SSA’s) to meet the specific needs of some of its clients.

Some of these agreements require a significant attention and regular (even daily) monitoring and follow-up to ensure that the transaction terms are well respected and offer the best experience to the client all along the deal lifecycle (from pre-trade to post-trade).

A typical SSA, would involve a specific Security Package aiming at covering/capping the credit risk borne by GEMS.  It is usually made of:

  • a set of covenants that the client must comply with,
  • a set of risk limits to be monitored on a regular basis
  • a mechanism to secure cashflows related to the payments due by the client to GEMS

A Security Agent (a 3rd party specialized in implementing the legal instruments of such security package) would also be involved in the implementation and management of every SSA.

Such a specific and complex structure will require, upon the closing of a new SSA, the implementation of a bespoke monitoring process to ensure the proper monitoring of the different components of the security package in interaction with the Client, the Security Agents and GEMS’s support & risk functions involved in the operations of the transaction.

Your Contribution

Your missions, if you accept them:

  • Implementation of the risk monitoring tools (data: SharePoint, Dataiku, PowerBi, Excel)…

Day-to-day monitoring:

  • Interactions with the clients and the Security Agent : transmission/receipt of all the documents and information, discussion/resolution/escalation of potential issues…
  • Invoicing/Settlements supervision/reconciliation in relation with GEMS Finance teams.
  • Risk Limits monitoring and reporting
  • Covenants monitoring: check and recoding/filing of received information (compliance certificate, financial statement, risk reports…)
  • Transaction economic performance monitoring and reporting
  • Internal coordination for information sharing and any issues escalation/resolution (management, front, risk, legal, finance…)
