What You Can Expect

As the Construction Management, Senior (CMSr) in ENGIE, Distributed Energy Solution (DES) you will oversee ENGIE’s construction sites and subcontractors, provide baseline/milestone/look-ahead schedule, ensuring site safety practices, and uphold quality assurance/control measures are provided for the installations. These small to mid-size projects include, but are not limited to, a combination of energy conservation measures (ECM) and renewable generation projects such as Photovoltaic Solar, Battery Energy Storage Solutions (BESS), high-efficiency HVAC, Energy Management Systems (EMS), high-efficiency transformers, LED lighting, lighting control systems. You will work closely with the Project Directors and Managers during the project execution phase to lead all aspects of delivering the project to our clients. This position is in California and is field based role; you will be on site every day during the construction period.

 

 

What You’ll Bring

  • A minimum of five (5) years of construction management experience
  • Technical experience and or training with electrical, mechanical, lighting projects
  • Scheduling experience with Microsoft Project or comparable software
  • Past experience working with Project Inspectors and Field Engineers
  • Experience in construction projects, working at sites, managing subcontractors, contracts administration and change management
  • Experienced in preparing and executing Health & Safety, Environmental, Quality Assurance (QA) and Quality Control (QC) Plans
  • Basic Knowledge of project engineering for technical consult and QA/QC inspections
  • Ability to coordinate customer requirements for site access and security for contractors (including keys/ alarms); works with customer sites’ schedules/constraints to minimize construction impact to build occupants

 

 

Additional Details

  • This role requires attendance at a worksite on a daily basis
  • Must be available to travel domestically (via car) up to 80% of the time
  • Must possess a valid U.S. driver’s license/clean driving record with the ability to drive to site locations
  • Must be willing and able to comply with all ENGIE ethics and safety policies;
  • This position consist of outdoor work, while performing the duties of this job, the employee is exposed to weather   conditions

Compensation

Salary Range: $84,000 – $128,800 USD annually

 

This represents the average expected pay range for a qualified candidate.

Actual offered salary may depend on geography, experience, industry knowledge, education, internal pay alignment, or other bona fide factors.

What You Can Expect

Our Electrical and Instrumentation Technician II, located on the beautiful University of Iowa campus in Iowa City, IA. will be responsible for maintenance and installation of plant and distribution electronics and instrumentation. We operate the power plants, steam, chilled water and drinking water plants on campus and at the Oakdale satellite location.  This Technician will also be working with metering communications and controls systems including network administration and security.

  

No two days are the same in this role. The only thing that is assured is that we are going to start the day focused on safety. We will be lining out the day’s work, safety procedures as required by OSHA and company policy  and making sure that we have the materials to complete the scheduled tasks safely and efficiently.  Skills like reading diagrams and schematics and drawings of utility systems are used daily.  We also troubleshoot and design and implement Programmable Logic Controllers (PLC’s) both  electrically and through software and firmware configurations.  You will also recommend updates and system improvements for a variety of internal groups.

 

  • The daily work will consists of a  variety of  new installations and upgrades to unscheduled maintenance that will challenge your troubleshooting skills. This position requires multiple commitments. The first is to safety the second is to learning, and adapting to new systems, and software and maintaining your expertise in your craft.
  • This employee is required to be on-call on a scheduled basis and must be able to respond on location within one (1) hour of notification
  •  This role requires the ability to work in confined spaces in the plants and in utility tunnels throughout the campus.  You must be physically capable of entering and working in a confined space (crawl spaces, shafts, small enclosed areas, pipes and the like)

 

 

What You’ll Bring 

  • This role requires a minimum educational level of a High School Diploma or GED
  • This position requires a minimum of 4 (four) years of experience; or a combination of  experience and advanced education or training that totals four (4) years. that is directly applicable to this role. Such as,  military training ,  or an associates  or certificate based program in electrical or electronics
  • With this four years of training and work experience you will have gained  knowledge and experience in servicing utility systems, including  three (3) years of industrial plant or power plants  and one (1) or more years of experience using MS Server including the configuration and servicing of networking switches in an industrial environment
  • You will be experienced in proper application of hand tools, multimeters, and other testing and repair equipment to effectively troubleshoot, and repair electrical, instrumentation and controls equipment
  • You have experience applying proper electrical codes, manufacturer guidelines and  the regulations and guidelines of local, state, and national electrical and safety codes
  •  You are skilled in the calibration of utility instrumentation, and knowledgeable in control systems. You use high-level programming concepts such as objects, functions, routines, data types, tag naming conventions and can code and run simple PLC programs. You have experience in installation and configuration of  control system hardware and software
  • You are experienced in network architectures and Ethernet networks using routers and switches. You understand the variations in platform protocols and understand the role of protocol layers in data networks
  • You have developed strong communications skills and communicate professionally via email detailed technical information and instructions. You complete written reports in the Maintenance  Management System.  and communicate technical details and safety concerns or  instructions  verbally with other technicians, vendors, students staff and the general public
  • You will have strong problem solving and math skills you will be able to perform problem decomposition and stepwise refinement in problem solving, after identifying the root cause of a problem you have analyzed available options and made recommendations and implemented solutions to systems problems

  • Prepare annual budgets and reforecasts for Regional office overall and all related sites; control actual O&M activities expenses compliance with the budgets and perform financial quarterly review, including but limited to O&M Profit & Loss (P&L).

  • Insure timely and quality for issuance – by all related sites - for Technical, legal, financial documentation and UPF monthly service reports (inclusive of SLA & KPI’s) for submission to the Customers sites and to the Company headquarters (HQ) - as well as the necessary reports to the relevant statutory authorities, 

  • Review for Regional office related Customers sites the quality of the services delivered, perform SLA-KLPI gap analysis and initiate, study the feasibility of specific project in order to propose productivity, technical improvements for the UPF on customer’s sites – in liaison with ENGIE services – related to the O&M, HSE processes, contingencies & emergency plans as well as UPF performances. 

 

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent
  • 10 - 12 years of experience in the area of Operation & Maintenance, exposed to Mechanical & Electrical systems, instrumentation, Air conditioning-ventilation, chilled water, thermal heater, compressed air production and distribution systems associated with supervision, control and data acquisition (SCADA) systems at diverse client/ site locations

What You Can Expect

As our Construction Management, II (CM) at The University of Iowa you will have the critical role of managing safe efficient construction projects across the University of Iowa Campus.  These projects are focused on Energy and Utility improvements and are located on the Main and Oakdale campus and include the University Hospital.

 

This position is being hired in support of a 50 year concession agreement to operate, maintain and enhance the University of Iowa’s utility system. The projects you’ll take on will involve numerous and diverse projects in the areas of electric and thermal energy production and distribution, and storm and wastewater infrastructure.

 

No two days will be the same, you will be conducting meetings with employees, subcontractors and the University or other stakeholders, preparing and executing Health & Safety, Environmental, Quality Assurance and Quality Control plans for Capital Improvement and efficiency projects, this includes provisions for site access and security credentials or traffic control to the work areas. Before breaking ground, you will be walking job sites and coordinating with GIS analysts and locators to make sure buried utilities are properly identified and that construction work and job safety plans take these potential hazards into account. During construction phase you will be walking the jobsites checking on safety and project completion, consulting with Engineers, Contractors, and Project Management ensuring that the project meets standards and code, conforms to our approved specifications and drawings. A key part of the role will involve communicating with project stakeholders on the progress, issues and concerns and to work through them collaboratively. When the project work involves taking a service outage, which happens often, you’ll need to coordinate the outage with stakeholders well in advance using established processes. Every step of the way, you’ll be expected to provide a QA/QC oversight of the work, to ensure the work meets specifications and passes required inspections.

 

As the project wraps up, you will lead the punch list and commissioning processes.

  • Support bidder site visits during the contracting phase and manages Requests for Information (RFI)
  • Support cost estimation and scheduling for projects in development/design
  • Support the Project Manager with Technical/Commercial oversight Including:
    • Review of change requests, directives
    • Review of monthly payment applications from Contractors and Construction Administrators
  • Opine on constructability through the review of Contractor plans, determining if special operator access or maintenance provisions are required
  • Provide field input to assist the project manager in tracking and reporting of schedule and budget performance during the construction phase
  • Partner with project engineers to develop a project procedures manual, providing the framework for construction addressing mechanical, civil, electrical, instrumentation & controls and administrative fundamental requirements

 

 

What You’ll Bring

  • You will have  a minimum of a high school diploma  or GED and two (2) years of experience in the successful management of industrial or municipal construction projects in which you gained a practical understanding of design, construction and operations of thermal plants and distribution
  • You will have experience in fostering and adhering to the highest safety standards, ensuring the safety of all employees, contractors, and the general public
