DCIM Operator

Job Purpose:

     The Data Center Facilities BMS/DCIM Operator is responsible to supervise and control the operation of the building management system (BMS) & Data Center infrastructure Management (DCIM) System and monitor all Electrical, ELV, and fire/life safety equipment, HVAC plant activities of the Data center building services within the data center is operating at peak efficiency. Maintaining and monitoring the level of temperature in equipment’s and trouble notifying against the DCIM alarms. The Operator serves as an expert technical resource reporting and interacting with onsite Engineers and any third-party vendors. Data center equipment that supports mission-critical servers must maintain better than 99.999% uptime.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Operates and maintains Building Management System (BMS) for proper function and monitors the DCIM against approved benchmarks to include; HVAC, Lighting, Fire Suppression, Generator, Plumbing, and Electrical
  • Carry out routine checks for correct operation of all control equipment as directed by Facility Engineer
  • Monitor the operation of the HVAC control systems using the BMS/DCIM to monitor performance.
  • Adjust variables and provide adjustment as required to ensure systems are operating correctly within parameters
  • Monitor and record values of HVAC systems to build up a database of records to provide data for energy efficiency improvement.
  • Communicate all maintenance and repair actions in writing for information to management as required.
  • Should follow the Protocols if any unexpected technical difficulties and other problems that may arise at any time.
  • Monitors and verifies operation of all BMS/DCIM field devices.
  • Adjusts BMS settings and parameters to meet changing conditions, i.e., Load, Environmental, Customer needs, etc.
  • Records maintenance data and generates reports as needed.
  • Maintains job card documentation for all Alarms or changes to systems and/or equipment.
  • Monitors of fire detection alarm system, such as smoke detector, heat detector, sprinkler, and emergency exit, in coordination with Safety Function.
  • Monitors of Water tank supply level alarm, air handling unit, fresh air handling unit.
  • Monitors and controls the Fire pump system, motors, sewage pump, electrical system, water system in the Data Center building.
  • Performs miscellaneous tasks as assigned by his Facility Engineer
  • Daily checking healthiness of all facilities equipment’s and keeping daily logs and records of all maintenance functions.
  • Create the Job cards in CAFM (FSI) Mobile App as per Site requirements and close the Job cards which Engineer assigns.
  • Responding promptly and efficiently to emergencies calls.
  • Review and understand equipment and methods of operation, Electrical systems, ELV system, fire/life safety, and other systems.
  • Comply with all safety procedures and requirements
  • Support any afterhours building needs and activities as required
  • Attend training sessions and seminars.
  • Other assigned tasks as requested.

Skills Required:

 

  • Working knowledge of Electrical & ELV systems including secondary distribution, HVAC System interior systems
  • Ability to read CAD Drawings, single-line diagrams, and rough shop drawings
  • Possess strong knowledge in multiple skilled trades (electrical, HVAC, plumbing, etc)
  • Requires ability to analyze the operation of various infrastructure systems, determine the cause of problems/malfunctions, and take corrective actions as required
  • Trained and experienced in BMS/DCIM operation.

What You Can Expect

As the Wind and Solar Area Manager, you bear the responsibility for overseeing total employment, training, schedules, safety, and the day-to-day financial operations of four (4) Wind generation and Solar project sites. Your managerial role extends to leading a team comprising six (6) direct reports.  In your capacity as the head of safety, it is imperative to ensure that all permits and reports are current, valid, and in compliance with both federal and state regulatory agencies. You will be tasked with the management of vendors, subcontractors, maintenance, budgets, and consultants, coordinating efforts with third parties. You will also be responsible for managing and reporting on Profit and Loss responsibility for regional performance.

 

You manage all areas of responsibility in accordance with federal, state, and local regulations, environmental requirements, company policies and procedures, the company’s annual operations plan, legal and contractual requirements, and good wind and solar industry practices. Additionally, you take all necessary actions to protect the facility’s operating permits, ensuring compliance and operational efficiency.

 

Utilizing systems like Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA), you will monitor daily asset performance and regulatory compliance to meet standards set by organizations such as the National Electrical Reliability Council (NERC). Your responsibilities involve utilizing various computer-based systems, ensuring the timely update and maintenance of all documentation. Collaboration with cross-functional management may be necessary to provide reports on the status, progress, and development of various projects on-sites.

 

  • You will need to provide technical and management support for the design and operations of the solar sites
  • Must be willing to attain substation technician certification within 12 months of hire date
  • Carries out all responsibilities under environmental legislation to prevent environmental spills

 

 

What You’ll Bring

  • Technical diploma/high school diploma and seven (7) years’ experience in a related industry where you gain knowledge and or experience with leadership, management, communication, organizational, operational and prioritization skills
  • Minimum of three (3) years previous experience in supervision of technical, operating or maintenance personnel
  • In-depth knowledge of wind, solar and Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) power generating equipment and technologies
  • Working knowledge of solar power generating equipment and technologies and substations to identify, categorize and troubleshoot

Compensation

Salary Range: $115,560 – $177,089 USD annually

What You Can Expect

As the on-site Wind Technician II, at the Limestone Wind Site in Dawson, TX, you will operate and maintain the site by optimizing wind generation availability and performance through established procedures with the highest regard for health, safety and environment compliance. Adaptability is crucial as tasks may vary depending on operational needs and requirements. Your primary responsibilities involve troubleshooting, repairing, reconnecting, and inspecting electrical equipment, including substations and overall site performance.  At this site you will be working with high voltage energized equipment and must follow all safety procedures including Lock Out Tag Out (LOTO) grounding and other safety precautions. Collaborating with service providers and contractors, you will oversee daily work activities, produce various reports, operate site equipment, and coordinate with local utilities and Independent System Operators (ISOs) for switching and curtailments. 

 

Ensuring compliance with ENGIE and regulatory agency standards, you'll conduct inspections and recurring checks on site equipment. You'll actively participate in behavior-based safety programs, enforce safety procedures, and conduct orientations and meetings to promote a safe working environment. Alongside routine inspections and serving as the main contact for landowners, you'll manage spare parts inventory, coordinate contractor work, and maintain cleanliness on-site. Gaining and maintaining GWO training is required, as well as participating in turbine climbing activities. You'll provide recommendations for operational and maintenance improvements, offer equipment operation training, and utilize Root Cause Failure Analysis techniques to address failures. You will work on computerized work order systems for purchase requisitions and receiving statuses.  From time to time you will be required to support other wind assets during planned outages and emergencies, potentially requiring overnight stays. Furthermore, you'll be part of an on-call rotation and must reside within 50 miles of the site to respond promptly to outages and emergencies.

  • Minimum two (2) years of experience and knowledge of Wind generation, Power Plant, or Substation Maintenance where you have working knowledge of industrial electrical or substation equipment including breaker, disconnects, transformers, contactors
  • Must have or be willing to obtain certification as substation technician within twelve (12) months of hire date

 

 

Additional Details

  • This is a field position requiring regular travel to client site(s)
  • This role requires daily attendance at a worksite
  • Must be available to travel domestically to other solar plants for emergencies and assist with outages
  • Must possess a valid U.S. driver’s license/clean driving record to drive company vehicle on and around the plant
  • Must be willing and able to comply with ENGIE’s policy with respect to COVID vaccination and testing
  • Must be willing and able to comply with all ENGIE ethics and safety policies
  • The position consists of 50% work indoors and 50% work outdoors depending on site needs; outdoor work may expose the employee to weather conditions
  • Could involve some lifting / up to 50lbs with assistance

 

Compensation

Salary Range:  $27.00 - $43.51 USD hourly

 

This represents the average expected pay range for a qualified candidate.

Actual offered salary may depend on geography, experience, industry knowledge, education, internal pay alignment, or other bona fide factors.

In addition to base pay, this position is eligible for a competitive bonus / incentive plan and emergency or on-call pay.
