About the Role: 

  • To achieve an acceptable, managed and mitigated level of exposure within the business to costs and risks associated with commodity and third-party levies/charges.
  • To ensure that we offer a competitive and compliant offer to the customer, whilst adhering to internal controls and policies.
  • To ensure that we mitigate our exposure to the cost risks associated with pricing a broad range of energy products.
  • To ensure the pricing and quoting systems are tested, maintained and updated as necessary.
  • To provide appropriate level of query management and support to the wider business in respect of Pricing activity for our catalogue of products as well as new propositions for both gas and electricity (import and export)

 

Key responsibilities:

  • Adherence to internal processes, policies and risk frameworks.
  • Assist in the definition of pricing policies and define the pricing methodologies to help ensure a framework that is effectively implemented and operated across the business.
  • Communicating and contributing to the management and resolution of any issues.
  • Continuous review and improvement of processes, focusing on accuracy, efficiency and automation.
  • Support the delivery of projects and programmes by providing subject matter expertise where appropriate.
  • Provide support to product development and bespoke product development.
  • Provide support in the testing of any pricing related system changes and assist with the implementation of system and process improvements.
  • Provide subject matter expert input into projects and programmes.
  • Understanding and management of economic, market and regulatory issues impacting on Pricing.

 

Requirements:

  • Able to demonstrate a practical approach to problem solving, especially the use of creativity to resolve novel problems to the business’s advantage.
  • Knowledge of Retail products, UK B2B and commodity markets.
  • Microsoft Office proficient, Microsoft Excel Advanced User, VBA and Access desirable.
  • Proven ability to present information effectively.
  • Sound knowledge of elements that contribute to final delivered prices and cost items incurred by business in course of gas and electricity supply.
  • Demonstrated ability to succeed in a complex environment.
  • Experience of retail pricing techniques and systems would be highly advantageous.
  • Experience in methodology documentation and process management and implementation.
  • Proven ability to undertake analysis of complex numerical problems.

 

Qualifications:

  • Degree level (or equivalent) in a relevant discipline

Context:

The Quantitative Research and Modelling Expertise Center (QRM EC) is responsible for providing advanced quantitative expertise, models and tools to all Business Platform (BP) in GEM, in fields ranging from mathematical finance, optimization, data science and statistics.

The QRM team supports the trading and portfolio management activities of the GEM BPs. In particular, we support the Short Term Power Business Platform (SpaaS BP) with optimization models, bidding algorithms, and decision tools in order to maximize the value of the GEM asset portfolio within the Central West Europe short term power markets.

The QRM team is looking for a VIE in Brussels whose mission is to support the development of  the optimization models used in the short term power desks. These tools are key to optimize the dispatch of the power plants and to maximize their values from the power market.

The VIE will be based on Brussels where he will work in the QRM team for the SpaaS BP.

Role :

As Short Term Optimizer, you will play a pivotal role to to maximize the revenues on phower physical markets for the ENGIE power portfolio. You will be responsible for:

  • Delivering value for power production units by developing optimization strategies and running optimization runs for the portfolios of Engie and its clients.
  • Creating bidding strategies that models accurately the constraints of each asset; exploits the use of all smart bidding products available; and minimizes the exposures of the portfolio all while maximizing revenue and ensuring the physical balance.
  • Leveraging our market expertise and act as a single window to the intraday Market in order to cover the real time physical needs of our customers (assets, renewable, clients,...).
  • A thorough understanding of the P&L of every asset and a comprehensive reporting of the day-ahead activity & coordinating the intra-month production and maintenance planning

As an Asset Management Advisor in Markham, you will manage a set of Canadian assets holistically. Asset Management includes the management of commercial strategies, including the coordination of implementation of those strategies, development and coordination of asset optimization projects, tracking of profitability of the asset, contract understanding, landowner relationships, and general overall operational purview. What You Can Expect

As a Real Time Optimization Senior Representative, you will support the delivery of financial results of the region versus budget within the values and ethics of the company. You will support the implementation of real-time dispatch strategies for optimizing a portfolio of ENGIE and third party owned generation assets.

 

  • Responsible for implementation of asset dispatch strategies for optimizing ENGIE’s portfolio of generating assets
  • Responsible for submission of bids and offers into Independent System Operator’s (ISO’s) systems, ensuring timeliness and correctness
  • Maintain a continuous operation picture of fleet performance, position, and risks
  • Act as primary communication point between plants, Independent System Operators (ISOs), Transmission Operators (TOs), asset managers
  • Responsible for maintaining up-to-the minute status and for keeping documentation of important information (unit availability, generation level, dispatch base points, generation cost, fuel inventory, market prices, etc.)
  • Understand and convey important pass down information at each shift-change
  • Communicate relevant information to stakeholders as appropriate in a timely manner
  • Act as a team member with all employees of ENGIE Energy Marketing North America staff

  • Carry out other duties as assigned

 

 

What You’ll Bring

  • Bachelor’s degree in which you completed courses in business, finance, economics, engineering or equivalent combination of technical training
  • A minimum of 5 years of energy experience in Real Time Operations optimizing generating assets or Power Plant Operations   
  • Ability to communicate effectively, both written and verbally
  • Ability to handle multiple assignments on a timely basis with a high degree of accuracy
  • Ability to meet highest attendance requirements
  • Ability to work 12-hour day shifts and 12-hour night shifts which routinely include working some weekends and holidays.  This position will start as a rotating, nights only position.

  • Willingness and ability to obtain Pennsylvania-New Jersey-Maryland Interconnection (PJM) or North America Reliability Corporation (NERC) certification

Compensation

Salary Range: $96,100 – $147,660 USD annually

 

This represents the average expected pay range for a qualified candidate.

The purpose of the role is to develop, negotiate and implement contracts to purchase electricity and gas exported to the Grid by generators, together with embedded benefits and any associated green certificates.

 

ENGIE are recruiting for an Energy and Renewables Originator based in Leeds. This is a Permanent role, working full time Monday to Friday. On offer is a competitive salary, bonus and benefits package.


 

Key Responsibilities

  • Accountable for the delivery of budget export margins on an individual basis within the Power Purchase team; sign New Business and renew existing business.

  • Business Development – Establish contact and build relationship with potential new business partners including banks, financiers, consultants, lawyers or direct customers.
  • Account Management - maintain and develop relationships with existing customers. Organise and attend events and meetings.
  • Build Portfolio – Origination of Power, Gas and Renewable Certificates. Propose PPA deals to internal stakeholders to attain sanction according to internal processes. Follow internal governance (including writing investment proposals) and present proposals to UK and European board level.
  • Contract Development and Legal Review - Liaise with ENGIE Legal department to tailor customer-specific contracts and review existing terms and conditions to maintain ENGIE’s commercial interests.
  • Investment Appraisal – build financial models to forecast expected margins and spend levels for proposed contracts.
  • Process Improvement – Ensure internal processes are efficient and fit for purpose.
  • Product Development - Provide intelligence for and assist the Product Development Team in researching and developing a range of market-leading Export Products, PPAs and Corporate PPAs.

Key Requirements

  • Experience in Sales and/or deal negotiation
  • Experience in Energy industry · Experience of contract development
  • Demonstrated ability to succeed in a complex environment
  • Degree level (or equivalent) in a relevant discipline, preferable
  • Ability to negotiate complex long-term contracts, often within multiparty scenarios.
  • In depth knowledge and understanding of UK Energy wholesale and Retail markets.
  • Excellent knowledge of all applicable current and future legislation impacting the renewable energy market.
  • Appreciation of key drivers and contract requirements for renewable generation developers, lawyers, banks and equity investors.
  • Ability to identify and reconcile business and customer needs in order to build bespoke products and develop current PPA product suit
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in order to present high value contract opportunities to the Senior Management team.

Context:

Within GEMS, the Risk Expertise Center’s purpose is to, on one hand, advise and help the Business Platforms in optimizing their activities making sure it respects all the rules and limits, and on the other hand, to manage, monitor and control the risks that GEMS is facing globally in its commercial and energy management activities.

In the context of its re-organization, the EC Risk has created new Transversal Risk functions with the general objectives to provide a sound global risk framework through the design of the global risk mandates and policies, and to harmonize and spread best practices across all GEMS local development areas.

Role:

As Transversal Risk Methodology Expert, you will report to the Transversal CRO and will be in charge of:

 

  • Model validation: you are accountable for pricing model validations across all entities outside of EGM and you will check compliance with MtM rules when migrating a book from S-P to MtM perimeter;
  • Cartography: you are responsible and accountable for the cartography of authorized products on MtM perimeter outside of EGM, and you maintain a clear list of validated metrics for each scope;
  • Model user support for market /credit / liquidity risk metrics outside of EGM;
  • New Business process outside of EGM : you ensure transversality of the market and credit risk framework across GEMS, in particular for countries;
  • Liquidity risk: you coordinate the EGM Risk Methodology Core Team work as designer of the Liquidity Risk metrics for the scope outside of EGM;

Hard skills:

  • Must have:
    • Digital mindset;
    • Financial Engineering skills with advanced knowledge in mathematical finance;

Soft skills:

  • Must have:
    • High level of Autonomy;
    • Good oral and written Communication skills;
    • Good Cooperation skills to work with many different stakeholders;

Education and professional background:

  • You have a university degree in a quantitative field (Engineering, science, economics,...) with a specific focus on financial mathematics;
  • You have a minimum of 3 to 5 years of relevant professional experience in the energy markets in a quantitative position;

 

Languages:

  • You are fluent in English
