Context

Within GEMS, the goal of the business platform Power as a Service (PAS) is to deliver services and value for clients on the Short Term Power markets, through strong business expertise and digital experience.  Within PAS, the CWE Real-Time Power Dispatching team manages the real-time commitment of the ENGIE power production in Central Western Europe (CWE), meaning Belgium, France, Netherlands and Germany.

 

We are currently looking for a Real-Time Power Optimizer in Brussels to strengthen our team.  Your role will be to monitor and steer the ENGIE portfolio.

 

Your role  

  • Manage the contractual balance between the total power production and the real off-take of our clients; to keep this balance you will have to interact with the power plant responsible, the sales load forecasting team, and the power Transmission System Operator;
  • Optimize the portfolio positions and optionality in real time on the imbalance markets and maximize the value of the portfolio e.g. ancillary services contracts towards TSO, supporting the design of intraday strategies and provide real-time steering of flexible assets;
  • Intellectually challenging job with a mix of operations and project development;
  • A dynamic and innovative approach within a diversified environment active in multiple countries and multiple technologies;
  • Autonomy and accountability and have the ability to coordinate different stakeholders in the energy landscape.

 

Hard skills

  • Any interdisciplinary skills is a must: Engineering, Economical (trading, risk management), Financial (P&L, Reporting) & Digital (Data, Coding, PO);
  • Any knowledge of physical power and gas markets is a plus.

Education and professional background

We are seeking a dedicated and experienced professional to join our team as a Supplier & Relationship Lead.

 

In this role, you will oversee and manage strategic partners in Retail Operations, ensuring they receive accurate information and insights to maximise their service and commercial value to the organisation. You will also support the Operational Leadership team and Supplier Manager in negotiating commercial and contractual terms with third-party suppliers to secure optimal value and benefits.

Key Accountabilities:

  • Manage strategic partners to enable them to meet or exceed ENGIE’s and industry expectations in terms of cost, time, quality, and service.
  • Maintain and develop productive working relationships with current and new partners, negotiating new contracts with the support of the leadership team, Legal, and Procurement where required.
  • Regularly and efficiently communicate progress, key risks, and issues to the Supplier Manager for Retail Operations.
  • Act as the escalation point when issues cannot be resolved between partners and ENGIE delivery and support teams.
  • Provide a reusable framework to manage current and evaluate potential future strategic partners.
  • Establish and support best-value performance-based contracts (in line with legal, security, and data protection guidance).
  • Ensure strategic partners are aware of governance and internal control and assurance bodies and enable them to navigate ENGIE solution validation, security, and data protection policy.
  • Maintain and publish performance metrics.
  • Conduct regular and frequent service reviews of performance from strategic partners, ensuring improvement actions are managed in line with agreed plans.

Knowledge and Skills:

  • Experienced in negotiation of commercial agreements.
  • Excellent knowledge in how to quality assure externally supplied solutions.
  • Good knowledge of how to research, qualify, and assess new partners and their products and present conclusions for approval.
  • Good understanding of the procurement and contract management lifecycles.
  • Knowledge of B2B electricity and gas UK Retail business processes and systems is desirable.

Context:

Within GEMS, the Green Power Structuring & Origination desk is part of the structured power commercial activities within the BP Power Trading & Commercial (BP PT&C) operating across the full power value chain in Northwest Europe (NWE).

 

The main missions of the Green Power Structuring & Origination desk are:

  • Developing renewable power solutions that will address the needs of GEMS upstream and downstream clients (power purchase agreements (PPAs)), and ENGIE’s in-house renewable asset developer teams in NWE.
  • Developing lasting commercial relationships with renewable asset developers, expanding GEMS renewable asset portfolio under management to serve our downstream clients in their energy transition.

 

Responsibilities:

As a Green Power Originator you will be in charge of the Belgian market, your key responsibilities will be:

  • Develop a profitable external client business with renewable asset owners in Belgium (prospecting, building commercial pipeline and closing deals) and maintain existing client flow, focusing on:
    • Wind and PV power purchase agreements (PPAs)
    • Wind and PV guarantees of origin
  • Develop and maintain a professional network of renewable asset owners (from private owned companies to funds). This includes participating to industry conferences and representing the company on various events on renewables topics (both external and internal).
  • Assure timely response to requests for quotes coordinating with internal stakeholders (trading, structuring, legal, credit/KYC teams, etc.).
  • Negotiate contracts and assure timely implementation of contracts coordinating with internal stakeholders (operations, back office, etc.).
  • Follow up on any post-trade issues coordinating with internal stakeholders and liaising with the client, including managing conflicts.
  • Follow up on regulation and evolutions of the renewable energy sector in Belgium (market watch, market standards and products,... ).
  • Help GEMS to further grow its client business with renewable asset owners, pulling GEMS product catalogue and finding new value pockets for both GEMS and the client. This includes leading ad-hoc business cases to scale up GEMS renewable power solutions.
  • Contribute to the development/improvement of contract templates in close collaboration with legal and structuring.
  • Comply with GEMS internal procedures and compliance policies.

 

This is a front office role, working in a dynamic trading floor environment and in close collaboration with internal stakeholders.

 

Location:

Brussels, with occasional travels within NWE

 

Education and professional background:

  • 5-10 years of professional experience in business development in the renewable energy sector and/or energy markets.
  • Master degree in quantitative or commercial discipline (engineering, economics, finance, business school, etc.).

 

Hard skills:

  • Solid knowledge of the RES industry.

About the Role

We have a number of fixed term contract Sales Support Assistant opportunities.  The Sales Support Assistant role is key in facilitating the efficient functioning of the Enterprise Sales team. Le département Anti Money Laundering et Know Your Customer (AML/KYC) fait partie du département Risques.

 

L’équipe AML/KYC est en charge de réaliser des due diligences et des tâches transversales pour accompagner EGM et les activités de GEMS.

Nous sommes à la recherche d’un stagiaire pour 6 mois (date de début 06/07/2025).

 

Role:

 

Affecté au département EC Risk, l’analyste aura pour missions de :

- Fournir des analyses AML/KYC et Ethics (sanctions, corruption, E&S, risques de réputation), dans le cadre des demandes d’on-boarding et de revue ;

- Assurer le respect des réglementations en vigueur et des procédures internes ;

- Maîtriser les outils et processus GEMS KYC ;

- Participer à des tâches transversales telles que :

  • Gestion des alertes de sanctions et PEP
  • Surveillance de la presse négative ;

 

Compétences techniques:

 

• Vous avez des connaissances relatives au cadre réglementaire associé aux thématiques KYC / AML / Compliance / Sécurité Financière (sociétés avec une structure actionnariale complexe, PEP, sanctions, risques de réputation).

• Bonne capacité de synthèse et de rédaction des rapports d’analyse ;

• Des connaissances sur les transactions de matières premières : produits (physiques et financiers), mécanismes et risques seraient un plus.

  • Ensure all data used to input into systems is both complete and of appropriate quality “right first time” while meeting required turn-around times consistently throughout the year 
  • Defining, setting and managing quality standards within the team to ensure the expectations of both internal and external customers are met 
  • To manage and administer the HH, NHH and Gas Matrices (including improvements to these) 
  • To work with the Sales  Managers to ensure good working relationships between Sales Support and the Sales Teams 
  • To engage with Channel partners to support stated sales ambitions 
  • To drive sales automation to annual sales targets  
  • To provide robust reporting across all Sales Support activities 
  • To maintain effective communication across other departments, including involvement in wider Project Groups where Sales representation and action is required 
  • To ensure Company people management processes are well applied 
  • To ensure the wider business is aware of the Sales Support, the team members and its function within the Sales operation

 

Requirements:

  • Previous experience of providing sales administration
  • Previous management experience
  • Management and motivational skills experience
  • Ability to analyse problems and identify solutions using Microsoft Office
  • Proven ability to manage customer (internal and external) relationships

 

Qualifications:

  • Degree level or equivalent

The Role
You’ll lead the development, maintenance and quality control for quantitative models including Demand Forecasts, Asset Operation Optimization and Energy Products Valuations. You’ll work closely with our Spot Trading, Forward Trading, Portfolio and Origination teams to lead the development and support of quantitative tools for Australian Gas and Electricity physical and contract markets.
Additionally, you’ll collaborate with IT on requirements for models and projects including data platforms, compute resources, APIs to internal and external sources, Analytics reports and processes.

 

About you
•    Tertiary qualification in quantitative disciplines, combined with professional experience in a comparable role preferably within Energy industry.
•    Demonstrated experience leading on technical projects
•    Experience with time series, Monte Carlo or optimisation models as well as coding (preferably in Python), SQL and Microsoft Excel
•    Strong mathematical background and experience applying quantitative skills and statistical skills
•    Genuine interest building models, systems, and automation, and derives satisfaction from success
