Purpose of the Job: 

To contribute to the safe operation of the Storengy UK Stublach Gas Storage Facility to ensure the protection of personnel, plant and the environment.  

Develop and maintain the Well Integrity Management System (WIMS) for all well-related assets. 

Provide direction and leadership in areas of Well Engineering to staff in the Operations, Maintenance and Engineering Teams, communicating on business and team objectives to ensure that staff work productively with a clear purpose to meet their objectives. Coach, mentor and develop staff to improve their skills, promoting a culture of collaboration and an environment where all staff are empowered to innovate.  

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Report all events (personal injuries, equipment damage, environmental and security) to your Line Manager and regularly raise proactive observations to help reduce the risk of an unsafe situation occurring.
  • Drive improvements in Process Safety across the site.
  • Provide engineering input into any investigations or operational studies
  • Interact with the UK Regulator on matters of Well Integrity on behalf of Storengy UK.
  • Act as the Technical Lead for the risk assessment of well activities and well operations using the principles of ALARP.
  • Manage and further develop all aspects of the Storengy UK Well Integrity Management System, ensuring the company is following best practice guidance: NORSOK, API, OGUK, ISO etc. 
  • Define a range of performance measures relating to Well Integrity. Set up and manage processes to record, communicate, analyse and make continuous improvement recommendations.
  • Own and update the Well Status Diagrams, Well Barrier elements and performance standards. 
  • Produce annual Well Integrity report for the Stublach Site.
  • Deliver on continuous improvements that minimise downtime / maximise plant availability / reliability.
  • Plan and provide operational support for well-related maintenance, interventions, workover operations etc. 
  • Provide technical input into design activities, including harmonising with group and UK standards.
  • Coordinate all well specific maintenance / inspections and corrective breakdown activities. 
  • Develop and formalise multi-year programmes for periodic maintenance regarding well integrity inspections.
  • Generate operational instructions/procedures relating to the operation and maintenance of wells.
  • Generate Scope of Work documents for tender. Develop the contracting strategy, contractor selection and perform regular contractor performance monitoring. 
  • Support the O&M team with key mechanical maintenance contracts; WHCP, Well maintenance, logging, Well site supervision etc.
  • Review and update mechanical drawings following any modifications to well related equipment.
  • Lead on site modification (MoC) relating to mechanical systems, acting as the Technical Safety Assessment leader when required – Ensure that modifications satisfy all statutory and best practice requirements (PED, PSR, PSSR, OGUK, NORSOK, API etc.)
  • Ensure that all well integrity related procedures are complied with, and all actions are auditable while also maintaining the highest personal, professional and ethical standards.
  • Implement the requirements of the Stublach Management System associated with documentation control for the Maintenance Team.
     

 

Qualifications & Experience:

  • Bachelors Degree, or equivalent, in Chemical, Mechanical or Petroleum Engineering, essential
  • IWCF Level 4 desirable
  • NEBOSH General Certificate desirable
  • 2 years’ experience in the oil and gas industry or process industries. Preferably in a well integrity role, but open to general mechanical integrity experience. 
  • Ability to coordinate activities across teams.
  • Ability to consult and influence.
  • Ability to use a CMMS system (Maximo) and document management software
  • Adopts a consistent approach, checks the quality of work and meets deadlines
  • High level of attention to detail – essential for this role
  • Advanced Excel skills – essential 
  • Able to search archives to find relevant construction data
  • Responsible, proactive and self-motivated with a ‘can-do’ attitude, able to work with a high level of autonomy.
  • Ability to absorb engineering standards and apply to SUK document updates.

About the role

The purpose of the role is to develop, negotiate and implement contracts to purchase electricity and gas exported to the Grid by generators, together with embedded benefits and any associated green certificates.

 

ENGIE are recruiting for an Energy and Renewables Originator based in Leeds. This is a Permanent role, working full time Monday to Friday. On offer is a competitive salary, bonus and benefits package.


 

Key Responsibilities

  • Accountable for the delivery of budget export margins on an individual basis within the Power Purchase team; sign New Business and renew existing business.

  • Business Development – Establish contact and build relationship with potential new business partners including banks, financiers, consultants, lawyers or direct customers.
  • Account Management - maintain and develop relationships with existing customers. Organise and attend events and meetings.
  • Build Portfolio – Origination of Power, Gas and Renewable Certificates. Propose PPA deals to internal stakeholders to attain sanction according to internal processes. Follow internal governance (including writing investment proposals) and present proposals to UK and European board level.
  • Contract Development and Legal Review - Liaise with ENGIE Legal department to tailor customer-specific contracts and review existing terms and conditions to maintain ENGIE’s commercial interests.
  • Investment Appraisal – build financial models to forecast expected margins and spend levels for proposed contracts.
  • Process Improvement – Ensure internal processes are efficient and fit for purpose.
  • Product Development - Provide intelligence for and assist the Product Development Team in researching and developing a range of market-leading Export Products, PPAs and Corporate PPAs.
  • Risk Management – Adhere to, and assist with the creation of, Risk Policy. Adherence to internal processes and risk frameworks.

Key Requirements

  • Experience in Sales and/or deal negotiation
  • Experience in Energy industry · Experience of contract development
  • Demonstrated ability to succeed in a complex environment
  • Degree level (or equivalent) in a relevant discipline, preferable
  • Ability to negotiate complex long-term contracts, often within multiparty scenarios.
  • In depth knowledge and understanding of UK Energy wholesale and Retail markets.
  • Excellent knowledge of all applicable current and future legislation impacting the renewable energy market.
  • Appreciation of key drivers and contract requirements for renewable generation developers, lawyers, banks and equity investors.
  • Ability to identify and reconcile business and customer needs in order to build bespoke products and develop current PPA product suit
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in order to present high value contract opportunities to the Senior Management team.

About the Role 

The Senior Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS) O&M Engineer is responsible for overseeing the operation, maintenance, and optimization of new and upcoming large-scale Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS) plants currently under construction and in the development phase. This role requires close coordination between the engineering, project management, and operations teams to ensure smooth commissioning and a seamless transition from construction to full operation. The Senior Engineer will also be responsible for setting up and implementing the O&M strategy for these newly built facilities, ensuring operational excellence, safety, and compliance with industry standards.

 

Key Accountabilities

  • Support FlexGen UK in shaping and building a future O&M organization for the existing and future BESS assets.
  • Collaborate with the project development and engineering teams during the construction and commissioning phase of new BESS plants.
  • Develop the operational and maintenance strategy for new plants, including preventive maintenance schedules, monitoring systems setup, and emergency response protocols.
  • Assist in the testing and commissioning processes to ensure the BESS systems meet operational requirements and perform as expected before handover to the O&M team.
  • Lead and enforce HSEQ (Health, Safety, Environment, and Quality) compliance, ensuring the plant meets all safety regulations, ISO standards, and environmental guidelines.
  • Schedule, coordinate, and supervise site activities performed by third parties, including BESS OEMs.
  • Handle tendering and management of maintenance and facility management contracts.
  • Implement and oversee an asset management strategy for BESS plants, ensuring all assets are properly tracked, maintained, and managed throughout their lifecycle.
  • Use SCADA systems and data analytics to continuously monitor plant performance and troubleshoot technical issues.
  • Develop and manage the O&M budget for new and existing BESS plants, ensuring that resources are allocated efficiently and that financial goals are met.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with ENGIE experts, central support, contractors, suppliers, and local stakeholders.
  • Continuously assess and implement best practices and innovative solutions to enhance plant efficiency, energy production, and overall performance.

Skills/Experience and Qualifications

  • Experience in the UK energy (power and gas) market, specifically the renewable sector.
  • Experience of delivering high levels of customer service through efficient operations.
  • Highly numerate – this role will involve understanding, changing, and creating mathematical models to reflect complex contractual arrangements.
  • Analytical skills and the ability to turn data into intelligence.
