What You Can Expect

Our Steamfitter will be working at the University of Iowa Campus in Iowa City, and the satellite campus in Oakdale.  This employee will be performing preventative maintenance and repair services on utility distribution piping systems for steam, domestic water, hot water for heating and chilled water for cooling.    Our responsibilities on campus include both direct-buried and tunneled systems as well as sanitary and storm sewer systems.

 

ENGIE at the University of Iowa employs over 100 energy professionals in the trades, technical specialties, engineering, management, and support to operate the utility production and distribution systems, driving toward greater use of renewable and sustainable fuels.

 

A typical day consists of performing preventive maintenance and repairs on utility Distribution Piping Systems, and servicing equipment used by the department to perform services such as Diesel powered pumps, compressors, backflow equipment.  In this role you will Install operate, troubleshoot, and repair High-pressure Systems (90 psig or greater) You will service steam pressure reducing stations, expansion joints Steam meters, steam traps, steam valves.  Inspect and service direct buried pre-insulated, large diameter buried domestic and chilled water mains, valves, and fire hydrants, hot water lines, valves, and expansion joints, compressed air lines, air regulators, and valves storm and sanitary sewers, utility access holes. Install piping systems and equipment (i.e. pumps, valves). Repairing or fabricating by Welding  using arc, gas, Heli arc, and spot-welding techniques.  You will be Interpreting and maintaining diagrams, schematics, system logs, drawings, and documentation on utility systems You Assists in arranging building shutdowns of all mechanical distribution utilities for Service work ensuring that customers and stakeholders are notified and that work is completed with employee and customer safety as an absolute priority. You determine Jobsite work sequences and safety procedures required, procures materials, coordinates outages, complete work, and place systems back into service.

 

 

What You’ll Bring

  • A Minimum of a High school diploma or GED or equivalent

  • Four years’ experience in one or more aspects of the trade, pipefitting, welding, plumbing, or similar; or a combination of work and education such as an apprenticeship, trade school or military training.
  • Knowledge of  work processes used when working with steam at pressures greater than 90 psig.
  • knowledge of utility systems and equipment
  • Knowledge of tools and methods necessary to troubleshoot and maintain utility piping systems
  • Knowledge of principles, methods, and techniques used in the steam and piping trades
  • Knowledge of trade occupational hazards and safety precautions while working in confined spaces, aerial or elevated locations, extreme temperatures, excavations, and other environmental caused conditions
  • Knowledge of building and piping codes, utility standards, and safety programs as governed by rules, regulations and guidelines of local, state, and national safety codes, equipment manufacturers, and others
  • Experience reading and understanding blueprints, schematics, control system drawings, and repair manuals
  • Experience with welding techniques and equipment
  • Experience maintaining records and system documentation
  • Ability to perform basic measurements, and  math computations
  • Ability to analyze system problems, recommend, and implement system changes
  • Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing with other department personnel, vendors and suppliers, students, staff, and the public

 

 

Additional Details

  • A minimum of a state issued driver’s license, and the ability to obtain a commercial driver’s license in the future. This Employee will be operating company owned vehicles

  • Ability to communicate effectively, both written and verbally
  • Ability to train and instruct employees on safety and work tasks
  • Ability to meet highest attendance requirements
  • Ability to manage multiple assignments on a timely basis with a high degree of accuracy
  • Ability to use a company computer, and work with Microsoft Office software applications
  • Ability to understand and execute oral and written instructions
  • This position consist of 50% of outdoor work, while performing the duties of this job, the employee is exposed to weather conditions

 

 

Compensation

Salary Range:  $27.45 – $39.42 USD hourly

As a Project Management Advisor, your role will involve leading all phases of energy projects, ensuring they’re completed on time, within budget, and meet the highest standards for quality, safety, and cash management—all while securing strong customer references. These projects will span energy efficiency measures, facility renovations, renewable generation installations, and carbon reduction strategies, helping public sector, commercial, and industrial customers across the U.S. become more sustainable, reduce costs, and improve operations.

 

Managing multiple projects simultaneously, you’ll oversee everything from early development through post-construction, including design, procurement, contract negotiations, and project implementation. Assigning responsibilities to the project team and establishing schedules will be key, along with handling technical aspects like scope development, conducting savings analysis, and assessing the feasibility of proposed solutions. Collaboration is essential in this role, as you’ll work closely with the Sales team to support customer presentations and interviews during project development. Partnering with the Legal department, you'll negotiate and prepare customer agreements and change orders, ensuring contractual obligations are met.

 

When it comes to budgeting, maintaining precise records of all cost components will be crucial. Any necessary adjustments will be promptly communicated to your supervisors. Together with the Construction Manager, you’ll establish a comprehensive project schedule, ensuring milestones are met and projects are completed on time. Your coordination with Accounting will ensure timely customer invoicing, and you’ll proactively resolve any payment delays. Compliance with local labor regulations will be part of your responsibility, as will overseeing the completion of monitoring packages and final job close-out.

 

This position will be in Chicago or remote, Illinois and will report to the Project Management Director.

 

 

What You’ll Bring

  • A minimum of a four (4) year degree in which you have gained a knowledge of construction management, engineering elements, and project management functions
  • A minimum of seven (7) years of related work experience in project management of complex projects including training and certifications
  • You are proficient with MS Office; including, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Project
  • Skillful in project accounting to manage project budgets
  • Strong negotiation skills
  • Solid technical writing abilities
  • Capability to create and execute project development and delivery schedules
  • Excellent adherence to schedule, and collaborative problem-solving skills to maintain budget, schedule, and customer satisfaction

The Project Manager/Engineering Intern is a critical role responsible for supporting the development and installation of energy conservation measures and renewable energy at large-scale public sector customers.   • Participate in technical design of energy-related customer improvements including such as solar photovoltaic (PV), energy storage, microgrids, energy efficiency, and Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA) upgrades
  • Learn and apply knowledge of Heating, Ventilation, and Air Conditioning (HVAC) and Controls, including modeling software
  • Analyze utility data to verify existing customer loads, consider rate change options, and calculate energy and water cost savings
  • Perform renewable energy designs, including solar PV and energy storage system site surveys, and understand metering and measurement tools and data
  • Evaluate various types and locations of renewable energy systems

What You Can Expect

As a Senior Photovoltaic (PV) Technician based in Minnesota, you will perform preventative maintenance, troubleshooting, and repairs on solar projects up to 7 MW across the Midwest. With at least five years of PV experience and strong customer service skills, you will support ground mount and commercial rooftop systems while ensuring safety compliance. A valid driver’s license and willingness to travel extensively, including overnight stays, are required.

 

Daily responsibilities include servicing ground arrays and rooftop systems for municipalities, corporations, and major retailers using a company truck. Tasks involve cleaning and testing panels, troubleshooting inverters, updating networking/DAS systems, and preparing detailed service reports. You will collaborate with the Regional Service Manager and clients to discuss maintenance and upgrade options.

 

  • Respond promptly to trouble tickets
  • Develop work scopes for repairs requiring subcontractors
  • Conduct scheduled annual preventative maintenance for PV systems
  • Review maintenance reports, provide feedback, and plan corrective actions with the Regional Service Manager

  • A minimum 5 years of experience with NEC electrical code, NFPA70, and OSHA 10 safety standards

Compensation

Salary Range: $112,000 – $165,000 USD annually

What You Can Expect

ENGIE Distributed Solar and Storage(DSS) is looking for a Project Manager to join our Pre-Construction team. As a Pre-Construction Project Manager, you will work closely with DSS project development, origination, business development, engineering, procurement and delivery teams to advance distributed generation (DG) and/or battery energy storage system (BESS) projects through the development cycle and prepare for handoff to the Delivery Team.

 

As the Project Manager, you at all times adhere to and promote ENGIE’s health and safety requirements and culture.  The projects will be in different regions of the contiguous United States.   

 

You will review the available information for early-stage projects / prospects and support the Development, Origination and Business Development Teams from constructability review, preliminary budget and scheduling perspectives.  You are expected to work with internal and external engineering teams and have a good grasp of technical aspects of Solar and BESS projects.  You will work with E’s procurement team to issue purchase requisitions and negotiate with contractors. 

 

  • Manage and/or collaborate on numerous DG or BESS projects simultaneously through various stages of development to notice to proceed to the Delivery group
  • Work with internal or external engineering / design team to understand and review the project design and provide inputs on constructability and potential cost savings  
  • Support proposal preparation, including due diligence site visit, project risk register, preliminary budget, scheduling, constructability review
  • Audit ENGIE employees and contractors to ensure all parties adhere to the company’s Health and Safety oriented guidelines on active sites
  • Create project schedule baselines and reports on progress to various internal and external stakeholders
  • Coordinate preconstruction site visit and site surveys, as required.
  • Track and analyze progress on project-level spend in relation to approved budget baselines 
  • Prepare budgets for projects at approval milestones and cite any budget-relates issues and evaluate ways to ensure budget baselines are accurate
  • Ensures contractual deadlines are met and required documentation is filed
  • Provide regular status reports to clients and other external parties as necessary, including previously-mentioned schedule and budget/cost updates
  • Ensure that all installations meet ENGIE plans and specifications, permitting and interconnection requirements, and client expectations
  • Ensure all projects adhere to requirements listed in applicable legal agreements
  • Works with engineering and development teams to obtain construction-related permits, negotiate and comply with interconnection agreements, and deliver construction and staging drawings, as require.
  • Works with internal and external Procurement resources to contract the entire Scope of the project across various suppliers (GC selection, PO issuance and follow-ups)
  • Mentor junior team members
  • Carry out other duties, as assigned

 

 

 

What You’ll Bring

  • Bachelor’s Degree in which you completed course in Construction Management, Civil or Electrical Engineering, or related field
  • Experience within the renewable energy industry; specifically, solar photovoltaic arrays and/or battery energy storage systems
  • A minimum of two (2) years’ experience in Independent Power Producer (IPP) firms, DG Development, Project Management, Engineering or Construction roles
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Proficiency with or familiarity with MS Office including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Project and Power BI, Procore, RSMeans, Kevala, ArcGIS, Anderson Optimization
  • Leadership, problem-solving skills and critical-thinking
  • Employ time management skills
  • Familiarity with Customer Relations Management (CRM) tools such as Salesforce
  • Ability to lead and adapt in a demanding, ever-changing environment
  • Ability to work with a collaborative approach to getting the work done
  • Show a bias for action; take ownership of projects
  • Project Management Professional certification
  • Experience on distributed generation and storage projects is a plus
  • OSHA, NFPA, or other prior safety training and certification
  • First Aid, CPR, AED certification
  • Working knowledge of the NEC code and AC/DC electrical systems design

 

 

Additional Details

  • This role is eligible for our hybrid work policy
  • Must be available to travel domestically up to 50% of the time and with the need for some overnight trips
  • Physically able to visit and walk renewable energy sites throughout the US for extended periods of time in hot or cold weather conditions
  • Must possess a valid U.S. driver’s license/clean driving record to drive a company vehicle to site locations
  • Must be willing and able to comply with all ENGIE ethics and safety policies;
  • Could involve some lifting up to 40 lbs

 

 

Compensation

Salary Range: $86,100 – $132,020 USD annually

 

This represents the average expected pay range for a qualified candidate.
