As our Project Management Senior (PM) working in a self-managed team concept, you will be a part of the ENGIE capital projects team based at the beautiful University of Iowa Campus in Iowa City, Iowa. Our projects are located on both the main and Oakdale campuses and include the University Hospital. As part of this team you will be responsible for managing utility infrastructure capital projects associated with expanding and maintaining the utility system on the campus. Projects range in size from $100,000 to $50M, with completion of each taking the span of 1-5 years.
This position is being hired in support of a fifty (50) year concession agreement to operate, maintain and enhance the University of Iowa’s utility system. The projects you’ll take on will involve numerous and diverse projects in the areas of electric and thermal energy production and distribution, as well as storm and wastewater infrastructure.
No two days are the same, starting with the development stage you will be submitting reports and conducting meetings with Team members, subcontractors and stakeholders on a regular basis, providing oversight and sharing updates on projects and planning, solving construction challenges through collaboration and clearing the path and working towards successful completion. The key measurements of success are successful completion of projects with no health, safety or environmental and public relations, on time and under budget. You will be managing contracts for both Design and construction of capital projects within the central plants, and managing project teams made of internal staff, external consultants and operations and maintenance staff.
Additional duties include the following:
- Administer contracts to include the development of project specifications, a detailed scope of work and principle contract provisions, working closely with corporate Contracts Management and the Procurement Department
- Work with the University stakeholders, ENGIE colleagues, and ENGIE contractors, including engineers, architects, construction firms, and other contractors to develop and execute projects
- Partner with Program Manager and Operations and Maintenance leadership to identify potential projects and develop business justifications
What You’ll Bring
- You have earned a Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or in a technical field from an ABET accredited institution
- You will have gained a minimum of five (5) years of experience in the successful management of construction or maintenance projects in which you gained experience with managing complex projects to successful completion, such as those involving schools, hospitals, manufacturing or universities
- Possess or have the desire to achieve a PMP Certification
- You will have experience in fostering and adhering to the highest safety standards, ensuring the safety of all employees, contractors, and the general public
- You will have gained expertise in developing work packages for execution to include: statement of scope, change management, performance testing, QA/QC requirements, parts/tools, man-hours, material procurement, technical data sheets, drawings/specifications, task procedures and job safety plans
- You will have gained experience creating and giving presentations and professional communications, using Microsoft Office, Procore, or other project management tools, to create written reports, project updates, and reporting data for all stakeholders including your management team, contractors, clients, and regulatory agencies
- You are experienced with managing the financial and contractual aspects of capital projects
- You will have demonstrated ability to create a team culture of camaraderie, integrity and trust among the integrated project team members and exhibits excellent interpersonal skills that include listening to other’s ideas and viewpoints and the resolution of conflict situations
- Demonstrated ability to facilitate meetings and ensure performance expectations and resultant outcomes are met
Additional Details
- Must be willing and able to comply with all ENGIE ethics and safety policies
- Must possess a valid U.S. driver’s license/clean driving record, this role requires the safe operation of company vehicles
- Must be willing to work in the office a minimum of three days a week, or as required by project activities
- Ability to travel for general business and training purposes
- Could involve some lifting
- Strong acumen in financial and contractual aspects of capital projects
- Must be able to multi-task; utilize problem solving and interpersonal skills
- Strong management and leadership skills
- Physical ability to conduct regular site walks
- Hard work ethic, self-starter, can-do attitude
Compensation
Salary Range: $96,100 – $147,660 USD annually
This represents the average expected pay range for a qualified candidate.
Actual offered salary may depend on geography, experience, industry knowledge, education, internal pay alignment, or other bona fide factors.

In addition to base pay, this position is eligible for a competitive bonus / incentive plan.
