About the team

 

The Nuclear Business Line provides high added value activities and services to our nuclear clients and also to the other Business Lines of Laborelec. This covers applied research, products and technical assistance. The team offers, manages and realizes multidisciplinary projects leveraging the expertise and services from all expert teams of Laborelec and its different laboratories.

 

 

 

What you’ll be doing

 

Your responsibilities as Cluster Manager Nuclear Chemistry, Concrete & Waste

 

This role has a mixed function. You will work partly as a People Manager (more than half of the time) and partly as a Project Manager or as an Expert (depending on your competences).

What You Can Expect

As our Project Developer, you will support a broad range of pre-construction development activities on projects within ENGIE’s portfolio of utility-scale renewable energy projects across the United States and Canada. Your daily task will include working on all aspects of early to late-stage project development, such as local, state, and federal permitting, public and stakeholder engagement, public hearings, environmental site assessment, and project financing due diligence support. You will work closely with land and greenfield teams, interconnection experts, as well as pre-construction, engineering and project delivery departments, and other aspects of wind , solar and storage project development to ultimately fulfill the company's renewable energy aspirations and growth strategy within North America. This role offers flexibility in location, with options in either Santa Barbara, CA, Chicago, IL Denver, CO or Houston, TX.

 

The Development Associates and Project Developers will support the development team in order to:

  • Manage and actively drive development activities of utility-scale solar , wind and storage projects from feasibility to the start of construction
  • Manage all aspects of  environmental site assessment, permitting, transmission/interconnection, land acquisition, and design activities in close collaboration with SMEs
  • Engage consultants, review their findings, and ensure implementation
  • Research new industry developments, tax incentives, technologies, etc.
  • Manage permit application preparation and attend public permitting hearings
  • Manage agency and AHJ submittals and interactions on local, state, and federal level
  • Develop project model underwriting assumptions in alignment with investment criteria and off-take origination efforts
  • Engage with landowners and stakeholders to keep them informed throughout the development process, including attending community engagement events
  • Maintain database tracking project progress
  • Support energy offtake, financing, and project M&A discussions and document preparation
  • Prepare investment presentation materials for ENGIE investment committees
  • Review project pro forma financial models to understand how returns are impacted
  • Remain abreast of renewable energy opportunities in the United States and the national industry trends impacting the future of renewable development opportunities and their competitiveness as they relate to customers

 

What You’ll Bring

  • Bachelor's degree in which you complted courses in Engineering, Environmental, Business Administration or Economics
  • A minimum of two (2) years related experience, preferably in renewable energy development or other fields of project development with the ability to navigate permitting processes and community involvement
  • You are detail-oriented individual who will proactively pursue required information
  • Skilled in project management with the ability to multi-task and prioritize critical path tasks
  • You are highly capable of working constructively and maintaining good relationships with public officials and agencies

FRONT OFFICE COLLABORTATION:  Customer Engagement, Product Structure Refinement, New Product Development

 

Partner with Sales, Origination, and Marketing to support customer facing discussions and proposal development

Present opportunities to Supply leadership while stewarding transactions through approval protocols

Support new product development initiatives

 

MID OFFICE COLLABORATION:  Valuation and Booking

 

Lead solutions structuring activities across multiple opportunities

What You’ll Bring

  • You hold a Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics, Engineering, Mathematics, Computer Science or related field
  • A minimum of ten (10) years’ of relevant power experience in power trading and other wholesale power market activities, retail portfolio management, retail pricing, structuring and settlements
  • You possess strong analytical and data management skills
  • You have knowledge of ISO operations and settlement protocols across multiple ISOs (ERCOT, PJM, MISO, NYISO, ISO-NE)
  • You have strong quantitative and analytical skills, with expertise in developing and deploying complex Excel-based costing and structuring models
  • You are experienced in grid-scale renewables, on-site renewables, and battery storage
  • You are skilled in influencing cross-functional teams, possess strong project management discipline, and demonstrate excellent written and oral communication skills. You are comfortable presenting and defending transactions to Supply leadership

 

 

Additional Details

  • This role is eligible for our hybrid work policy; Business Development relies heavily on in-person collaboration. The successful candidate should expect to be in the office more than two days per week

  • Gérer le projet EDF, que ce projet soit une modification matérielle ou intellectuelle.
  • Piloter et coordonner les différents acteurs de l’affaires en suivant le processus GIOP (EDF) .
  • Avoir une maitrise de son affaire afin d’être critique sur les solutions proposées (d’un point de vue planning, technique, contractuel, financier…).
  • Rédiger les livrables de l’IP et piloter les actions projet.
  • Piloter le planning de son affaire et faire remonter les informations nécessaires au planificateur..
  • Suivre et surveiller les entreprises titulaires de marchés (sous-traitants) pour EDF en phase réalisation et déploiement, d’un point de vue technique, planning, contractuel et financier .
  • Organiser et animer les réunions nécessaires au bon déroulement de l’affaire .
  • Être force de proposition quant à la meilleure stratégie à adopter pour mener à bien l’affaire (planning, coût, pérennité de la solution, REX…).
  • Gérer le projet Tractebel.
  • Lorsqu’on est en workpackage l’IP doit donner de la visibilité au CE Tractebel sur les attendus en termes de :
    • Partage de la vision projet ;
    • Livrables (niveau de détails du contenu, objectifs du livrable pour le projet, forme) ;
    • Process à suivre (diffusion, contrôle interne, surveillance client) ;
    • Jalons et jalons intermédiaires
  • Lorsqu’on travaille avec un co-traitant, l’IP doit maitriser la responsabilité de chacun et tracer par écrits les échanges ;
  • Remonter au chef de projet, ou au leader thématique le cas échéant, tout risque ou potentiel risque identifiés (dérive planning, évolution du périmètre de l’affaire, sucharge/sous-charge, difficultés avec un sous-traitant ou co-traitant etc) ;
  • Remonter les indicateurs qualité au chef de projet ;
  • Respecter le process Tractebel (archivage des livrables sur tokamak, traçabilité des évolutions et des contrôles)
  • Pour mener à bien ces missions l’IP doit :
    • Prendre de l’autonomie le plus rapidement possible ;
    • Connaitre le scope de son projet, le respecter et le faire respecter ;
    • Être rigoureux et organisé dès le démarrage de l’affaire ;
    • Relancer les acteurs (internes et externes) afin qu’ils respectent leurs engagements ;
    • Tracer par écrits au maximum (mails, CR de réunions…)
    • Escaler pour remonter le problème au bon niveau de hiérarchie (avec le support du chef de projet).
  • Les première actions d’un IP sur une affaire :
    • Prendre connaissance et compléter la fiche de cadrage ;
    • Organiser une réunion d’enclenchement en interne : avec le chef de projet, le leader thématique et les chargés d’études Tractebel le cas échéant
    • Prendre connaissance de l’état de l’affaire ;
    • Identifier les données manquantes ;
    • Prendre connaissance du planning et s’assurer de sa cohérence ;
    • Identifier les risques projets (techniques, interface, planning…)
    • Organiser une réunion d’enclenchement externe : avec le prescripteur, le planificateur et les personnes jugées pertinentes
       

YOUR PROFILE

  • Ingénieur dans un domaine technique (Mécanique, Process , Fluid Systems) avec une connaissance en mécanique des fluides ;

Your contribution

 

Context

The GEMS Legal & Regulation department (composed of 70+ legal counsels worldwide) is looking for a market regulation legal counsel to join a team composed of four people including a manager.

Your role will be to provide guidance to secure business activities in the day-to-day asset portfolio optimisation and trading operations in compliance with regulations and good market conduct. As part of this role, you will need to follow the evolutions in financial and energy regulations impacting GEMS trading activities, predominantly from an EU perspective.

Your role will also be to coordinate responses to regulatory investigations as well as to follow up any regulatory litigation.

As part of GEMS exciting environment, you will be able to discover both the physical and financial energy markets and fine-tune your regulatory skills in a wide variety of subject matters involving various stakeholders.

In your role, you will work closely with the business teams as well as with the other teams involved in market conduct topics, primarily the Compliance team as well as the team responsible for the surveillance of trading activities. You will be autonomous in collective projects with a very strong team sprit!

Role

You will be required to be agile to follow both significant regulatory developments as well as regulatory investigations and litigations.

 

With respect to regulatory developments, you will be required to:

  • Develop and maintain a deep understanding of market conduct, wholesale and financial market regulations impacting the GEMS activities;
  • Provide regulatory guidance to the business in respect notably to REMIT, MAR, EMIR, and MiFID;
  • Develop strategies, internal policies and solutions to facilitate market activities or regulatory compliance, and develop - together with other GEMS teams - the best practices in relation to market conduct topics, relevant financial regulations or wholesale energy market regulations;
  • Contribute to GEMS’ public affairs position and lobbying strategy towards public authorities and regulators to build favorable market design in respect of market conduct issues, wholesale energy and financial market regulation matters;
  • Furthering GEMS’ interest by attending and participating to trade associations committees (e.g. EFET, EURELECTRIC, AMAFI) and liaise with relevant competent regional and national stakeholders, in concertation with other GEMS teams and ENGIE Public Affairs Department;
  • Coordinate GEMS contribution to national and European consultation papers on relevant market conduct, financial and wholesale energy market regulation topics;
  • Lead, coordinate and structure training courses on regulations impacting GEMS activities.

 

With respect to investigations and litigations, you will be required to:

  • Lead, coordinate and structure replies to regulatory enquiries or investigations from financial and energy regulators, market exchanges, and transport system operators;
  • Lead and coordinate litigation matters;
  • Contribute to internal investigations in relation to market conduct topics in respect of GEMS activities.

About You

Hard skills

  • At least 3 years of professional experience either as in-house legal counsel or as a lawyer in a law firm with international exposure;
  • Experience in dealing with regulatory topics, preferably in energy and/or wholesale and/or financial market regulations. Experience f.i. with MAR, REMIT, MiFID or EMIR is an asset;
  • Strong legal reasoning skills;
  • Experience with litigation/investigations;
  • Ability to understand complex products/market functioning.
