What You Can Expect

As the Head of Interconnection you will be responsible for managing the interconnection and grid integration process to support the company's overall development and operational goals in California Independent System Operator “CAISO”. Focus will be on the Company’s existing ~10 GW pipeline of utility scale stand-alone energy storage projects in CAISO, MISO, and ERCOT as well as new project analysis. You will be responsible for transmission-related topics including tariffs, planning, technical evaluation, contract negotiations and the overall interconnection process through the full life cycle of development and construction of projects.

 

Every day in this role you will be responsible for managing the interconnection process and monitor key milestones throughout the lifecycle of the project from early-stage development to commercial operation.

 

  • Coordinate, review and interpret interconnection and transmission studies performed by utilities and outside consultants
  • Function as main liaison with project developers, and third-party consultants, on matters relating to interconnection to provide technical insight and business solutions to reduce interconnection cost and remove obstacles to project development
  • Perform/manage analysis to predict interconnection capacity, deliverability, and other key parameters to support project development and have experience with load flow modeling and analyses
  • Conduct due-diligence review for potential interconnection and transmission risks related to potential projects, portfolio acquisitions, and commercial transactions; provide recommendations to the acquisition team
  • Perform transmission assessments and policy reviews to forecast future system conditions and determine commercial viability to support development and construction activities
  • Negotiation of contractual agreements with utilities
  • Collaborate with engineering team in optimizing project’s engineering design in support of grid integration requirements 
  • Represent the Company to establish and maintain productive relationships with key utility and CAISO personnel, industry groups, regulators and other stakeholders on issues related to transmission and interconnection
  • Monitor regional transmission planning process and interconnection policy changes; participate as stakeholder in transmission and market-related regulatory activities as necessary with collaboration with the Company’s regulatory and development teams
  • Review utility transmission planning reports and present findings to the Company
  • Provide technical support for project development and acquisition activities in the evaluation of transmission system and planning issues
  • Actively monitor the progress of required system upgrades and identify creative mitigation solutions to support development of projects codes

 

What You’ll Bring

  • Bachelor Degree in Business, Construction, Finance, Economics, Engineering, Environmental Science, Management, or another Analytical field required
  • Minimum of fifteen (15) years’ relevant work experience and ten (10) years of experience in CAISO transmission planning or generation interconnection with a minimum at a developer or consulting firm
  • Deep understanding of the interconnection process in CAISO
  • Familiar with power system modeling and transmission planning/generator interconnection studies
  • Experience in transmission planning, grid operation and generator interconnection topics in CAISO
  • Have established or able to establish strong working relationships with utilities, CAISO, and industry stakeholders
  • Ability to analyze power flow and system impact studies for interconnection of multiple types of generation
  • Understanding of electrical diagrams/systems and preliminary site plans
  • Strong collaboration and problem-solving skills, capable of applying advanced engineering principles to identify and solve complex issues
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously under time constraints

 

Additional Details

  • This role is eligible for our hybrid work policy
  • Must be available to travel domestically 30% of the time and with the need for some overnight trips

Compensation

Salary Range: $232,900 – $341,550 USD annually

 

This represents the average expected pay range for a qualified candidate.

You will join Tractebel's Infrastructure Business Line. As Construction Manager, you will be immediately involved in a project where Tractebel stands as PMC for the Owner. You will directly report to the PMC Project Director and be responsible for the monitoring of the construction aspects of the project during the whole phases, in accordance with defined guidelines and in close collaboration with all project stakeholders (owner, A/E engineer, contractors, etc.).

Your responsibilities will include :

 

  • Supervision and management of the entire construction aspects of the project, including Foundations, Core & Shell erection and Mechanical, Electrical and Plumbing (MEP) Fit Out by :
    • Establish and follow up the construction management plan
    • Ensuring that safety rules are always respected on the construction site. Close collaboration and communication with PMC EHS team is required
    • Managing the construction PMC team and be an inspiring leader for the 3 PMC Packages Lead
    • Daily monitoring of the site activities :
      • Full awareness and follow up of the Project Schedule in collaboration with PMC schedule team
      • Leading morning briefing meeting and afternoon status meeting
      • Close follow up of Contractors activities with the help of the PMC construction team
      • Alert the owner, project manager and stakeholders of any deviation in regards to the schedule
      • Manage the site logistics in collaboration with Contractors
      • Ensure that Contractors reporting (daily, weekly, monthly, three weeks look ahead) is up to date
    • With the help of the PMC commissioning Lead and PMC QA/QC Lead, coordination of project commissioning phases, including handover to the customer.

 

  • Be aware of the different contracts battery limits and alert the PMC Packages Lead and PMC Commercial team in case of contractual deviations

 

  • Effective communication and collaboration with various stakeholders, including customers, subcontractors and internal project teams.

 

  • Developing and implementing project procedures and processes in line with Tractebel and customer standards.

 

  • Regular reporting on progress according to defined guidelines and project key performance indicators (critical path, EVM, etc.).

Profile

  • Master's degree in civil, industrial or architectural engineering or equivalent;
  • Minimum 15 years' experience in EPCM/PCM projects;
  • Experience on large-scale data center or similar infrastructure projects;
  • Knowledge of Primavera is a plus;

En tant que Directeur des Systèmes d’Information d’E&C et membre du Comité de Direction d’E&C (90% du temps) 

Rattaché à l’EC-IS (Expertise Center Information Systems) de GEMS et Membre du Comité de Direction d’E&C, sous la responsabilité hiérarchique du CIO B2B Supply au sein de GEMS et matricé avec le Directeur Général d’E&C, vos missions sont les suivantes:

  • Vous participez activement aux initiatives transverses Digital, IT et Data identifiées pour la communauté B2B Supply

Job Purpose: Mission

ENGIE Energy Access Benin is looking for a dynamic and entrepreneurial Head of Commercial, Marketing & Communications to take on a unique leadership role in a rapidly growing company at the front lines of renewable energy and mobile payment technology.

The Head of Commercial will play a critical role in ENGIE Energy Access Benin (EEAB). As Commercial Director, you are responsible for developing and implementing Sales, Marketing & Business Development (Partnerships and New Products) strategies to accelerate growth with our current and new, while maintaining strong customer repayments. You are also expected to identify new commercial opportunities, manage marketing efforts and coordinate the execution of market research and analysis to create business plans based on commercial opportunities.

 

Key Responsibilities, Deliverables and Activities

Responsibilities

  • Set and manage the overarching strategic direction, priorities and focus areas for sales commercial (sales, marketing and business development), cascading and ensuring alignment throughout EEAB.
  • Manage consolidated country P&L commercial performance (primarily revenue and gross profit), with a secondary focus on driving overall EBITDA (given sales team core responsibilities for credit, product, operations, and CX outcomes).
  • Where the country is underperforming on sales and commercial targets, manage turnaround efforts to remediate performance.
  • Establish a best-in-class commercial operating model, with a high-impact and right-sized organizational structure, tools, reports, standards and systems.
  • Lead our go-to-market strategy through understanding our customers, the market and competitive landscape then determining competitive positioning with regards to products, prices, channels and locations.

  • Develop the commercial strategy to drive efficient customer acquisition and revenue growth throughout EEAB, including directly owning key inputs with our go-to-market strategy (locations, distribution channels, marketing, partnerships, new products etc.) and collaborating cross-functionally to determine other key strategic inputs (e.g. product, pricing, CX, Operations, etc.)
  • Ensure regions have localised strategies in line with the country strategy and have robust plans to deliver the country targets, including allocating sufficient investment and resources to reliably execute.
  • As part of the management team, provide thought partnership for cross-functional leads, provide input into strategies, act as a key stakeholder on cross-functional decisions and ensure that core commercial and enabling functions align with the sales strategy.
  • Develop the sales, marketing and business development team budgets, and track departmental expenditures, financial goals and budgets.
  • Where required, both lead and oversee strategic commercial projects to drive sales growth across EEAB.
  • Own Sales Forecasting Process ensuring country ensuring that both short term and long-term forecasts are validated as per SOP and the country achieves industry standard forecast accuracy.

 

Governance, Reporting, Analytics & Performance Management (40%)

  • Continuously manage country P&L performance, including:
  • Primary focus on revenue (through sales volumes, kit mix and price), gross profit (through maximization of higher margin sales with lower COGS) and cost of sales.
  • Secondary focus on EBIT, given sales team core responsibilities for credit, product, operations, and CX outcomes.
  • Set the overarching sales target setting process, approve regional sales targets.
  • Oversee the development of reports, analysis and insights for financial performance and other operational KPIs for sales (per sales manager / agent, active agents) and marketing (brand health, marketing spend, referrals, etc.).
  • Establish the overarching governance framework to track performance against commercial goals, lead national governance forums and hold Regional Managers and other departments accountable for results and plans.
  • Where there is underperformance, provide hands-on support to turnaround and make key decisions to remediate performance.
  • Continuously monitor performance of other key functions that drive sales, including product, pricing, sales, distribution, portfolio health, customer experience, software, and service with potential partners, working with them to take remediation action to address underperformance.

 

Commercial & Marketing Operations (30%)

  • Lead and manage development of a robust sales operating model, including:
  • Develop procedures and policies for core sales operations functions (lead and opportunity management; recruitment and training, tools of trade, incentives, size and structure, government reporting and performance management etc.).
  • Implement procedures and policies throughout the sales function, monitor and ensure compliance, continually test and improve.
  • Lead and manage marketing operations, including:
  • Lead market research, including the market and competitive landscape to identify analyze threats and opportunities.
  • Segment EEA Benin’s customers and develop tailored strategies to target specific customers’ profiles (SHS, SBS, Minigrids).

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

The development of utility-scale energy projects and subsequent participation in government and corporate tenders in Engie Southern Africa is led by a Business Development Department and supported by the Engineering Department. The general role of a Technical Project Manager (TPM) is to:

The activities of Rehabilitation of Industrial Sites (RIS), in which you will be active, include carrying out studies and following up the works to be carried out regarding the removal of asbestos and the demolition of power plants and industrial facilities, waste management, soil and groundwater remediation.   • Develop and effectively execute the country resource allocation plan, using insights and a focus on opportunities, priorities, and capabilities for business growth. - Monitor cash flow to ensure effective cash management.
  • Oversee all operations in Mozambique including development of SHS distribution networks, inventory management, etc. to ensure successful completion of projects, protect health and safety, and reduce loss.
  • Monitor operational risks through the management of a comprehensive risk framework to assess risks and devise risk mitigation plans.

 

Health, Safety, and Security

  • Responsible for Health, Safety, and Security for all activities in the country.
  • Champion and maintain a culture of Health, Safety, and Security compliance, ensuring accountability throughout the organization for the safety of our staff and contractors.
  • Accountable for ensuring compliance by all teams in Mozambique to all EEA and ENGIE Group Health, Safety, and Security requirements.
  • Accountable for ensuring compliance by all teams in Mozambique to EEA and ENGIE Group Cyber Security requirements.

 

Ethics

  •  Adhere strictly to Engie's Ethics Charter, encompassing ethical conduct, conflict resolution, compliance with laws and regulations, and anti-wrongdoing standards.
  • Demonstrate ethical leadership by upholding the highest standards of integrity, corporate responsibility, and ethics, ensuring compliance with internal policies and external regulations.
  • Oversee the implementation and enforcement of ethics policies, report any violations promptly to the CEO and Head of Ethics, actively engage in ethics training, advocate a zero-tolerance stance against unethical behavior, and foster a culture promoting ethical conduct within the organization.
  • Ensure accurate financial and audit reporting and that all potential contractors complete an ethics due diligence.

 

Stakeholder Management

  • Locate, initiate, develop, and execute on key partnerships initiatives that can assist in distribution, branding, customer acquisition, and scale.
  • Own and ensure that EEA Mozambique maintains productive relations with all external stakeholders and partnerships (i.e., telcos, government, tax authorities, industry organizations, banks, multilaterals, donors, etc.)
  • Represent the country programs to authorities, donors, partners, and other relevant forums.
  • Engage with Group Executives on country operational matters and in the provision of input into high level strategy.
  • Participate in Country Board meetings and engage with shareholders and local chairpersons. - Strengthen EEA’s position nationally and regionally. - Leverage and collaborate with global team and other country leads for insight and support. At EEA, we have high expectations for our managers.

Knowledge and skills Experience:

  • 12-15 years in a senior leadership role in a growing business of a reasonable size in B2B and B2C contexts
  • Strong GM experience, P&L responsibility, and orientation
  • Sales, Marketing and Consumer-oriented
  • Multi-channel sales distribution experience e.g., door to door, in-house retail, third party retail, partnerships, Telesales)
  • Experience representing a large and leading commercial multinational entity to both internal and external partners and authorities
  • Government and Labor stakeholder engagement experience
  • Experience of managing budgets and multiple stakeholder’s contracts
  • Proven commitment to accountability practices and knowledge of quality assurance systems
  • Experience with rural African Markets and financial services highly beneficial
  • Experience with sales oriented integrated operations in renewable energies sectors is preferred
  • Outstanding analytical skills and ability to synthesize analysis into practical strategy recommendations.
  • Understanding of asset & non-asset based business models and economics.
  • Experience with multi-entity governance.

 

Qualifications:

  • A holder of a minimum master’s degree in Business Administration or equivalent in a relevant field

 

Language(s):

  • English - French or Portuguese is a plus

 

Technology:

  • Experience in technology required for the role
