Your mission

We are looking for motivated and experienced Senior/Principal Mechanical Engineers to work on the design of the Hinkley Point C (HPC) and Sizewell C (SZC) nuclear powerplants, as well as our future pipeline of projects. You will provide your mechanical expertise to successfully deliver our projects, in collaboration with clients, contractors, stakeholders and our project teams. 

 

Your key responsibilities

The key responsibilities will include a selection of the following points, depending on your technical experience and the position you take within our team:

  • Providing technical leadership and team management to deliver work packages effectively.
  • Coordinating and communicating on complex engineering problems between project stakeholders.
  • Working within a team responsible for a number of design elements, where you will conduct or review work on the following topics:
    • Engineering and design of mechanical structures and components, including seismic design.
    • Structural integrity assessment of mechanical components to British Standards, RCC-M and ASME Section III Codes for the construction or operation of new/existing nuclear power plants.
    • Finite element analysis for thermal and pressure fatigue evaluation of mechanical and piping components according to RCC-M and ASME requirements.
    • Support clients to safely restart their nuclear power plant units through prompt and sensible assessment.
    • Analysis / design of components, including pumps, valves and supporting structures.
    • Calculation of piping components, including classified components for existing or new structures.
    • Other: Fracture mechanics studies, ageing of structures and components, design and calculation of anchorage elements, seismic margin assessment of existing structures (SMA, SPSA), seismic qualification of active components.
  • Writing and reviewing of component technical specifications (performance, scope of supply and limits of supply definition, design requirements, applicable criteria to be fulfilled, etc.).
  • Providing technical review and responding to site queries and requested changes in a dynamic and fast-paced environment to support contractor activities on HPC site.
  • Developing strong relationships with clients and stakeholders.
  • Supporting the business development team during the tendering process for our future project stream.

To be successful in this role, the ideal candidate would meet the following requirements and criteria:

  • Bachelor’s or master’s in Mechanical Engineering.
  • Chartered or working towards Chartership with the IMechE, or with equivalent experience.
  • Significant experience in structural analysis and design of structural components.
  • Minimum 10 years of professional experience, including 5 years working in the nuclear industry.
  • Working familiarity with relevant technical Codes of Practice and Industry Standards (Eurocodes, British Standard, RCC-M and ASME).
  • Experienced in general purpose finite element and structural design software (e.g. PIPESTRESS, BEAMSTRESS, ANSYS, SYSTUS etc.) for static or dynamic loading, linear or non-linear analysis.

The main mission of TE BV is to establish, and facilitate the development and the commercialization of the engineering services both in Nuclear and outside Nuclear in the Netherlands. The engineering services in the nuclear sector are expected to cover Nuclear New Build Projects, Medical applications, Small and Modular Reactors (SMR) and other nuclear applications.

 

We are looking for a Managing Director (m/f) with strong and impressive track record in managing a technical consulting and engineering business, ideally within nuclear sector, and with leadership experience from a consultancy/engineering company, utility, EPC contractor or manufacturer combined with a strong relevant network.

 

Your new potential challenge is to lead Tractebel’s expanding subsidiary in Netherlands.

 

Your function

 

As Managing Director of the Tractebel Engineering SA Dutch Subsidiary, you represent the entity vis-à-vis third parties, including but not limited to clients, local authorities, and local stakeholders and counterparties.

The Managing Director is responsible to manage the overall day-to-day operations and resources of the Subsidiary, and reports to acting as the main point of communication between the board of directors or other governance body as applicable. He/she ensures that the Subsidiary implements, respects, follows and complies  with all Group policies and procedures and applicable local requirements.

He has also the overall responsibility for TE BV Profit & Loss covering business development and project execution. This includes effective planning, delegating, coordinating, staffing, organizing, and decision making.

 

 

In your function of Managing Director you:

  • Define the short-term, medium-term and long-term strategy for business grow and elaborate the business plan of TE BV;
  • Are responsible for the implementation of the strategic objectives of TE BV, being selective and performance-oriented in all decisions taken;
  • Based on the strategy of TE BV approved by the Board of Directors, you detail the operational plan and ensure its implementation;
  • Participate in the business development and sales activity of TE BV, in collaboration with the Business Development and Sales Department;
  • Are responsible for the performance to reach the targets (production, net result, performance indicators, QHSE, E&C) with a close follow-up of the SGA;
  • Oversee the elaboration / development of the activity in projects, compare the achievements with the initial estimates and propose / take the appropriate corrective measures, if necessary;
  • Buildup, develop and strengthen the local engineering and consulting team with competence and resources to fulfil the strategic targets;
  • Ensure the management of human resources, adapting and scheduling the human resources necessary for the realization of the projects;
  • Support the continuous development of technical skills and knowledge of the staff, in order to adapt to market requirements;
  • Ensure overall Quality, Health & Safety and Environment aspects involved in the business activities;
  • Ensure and develop the collaboration with other entities of Tractebel, either through the selected Design Centers, or on a commercial basis;
  • Represent the organization in the local community, the state, and at the national level

Your profile 

  • Master’s degree from an accredited engineering and/or business university
  • Your native language is Dutch and you have an excellent command of English. Knowledge of French is a plus
  • Minimum 15 years professional experience in engineering / consulting preferably in nuclear sector with at least 5 years in role with P&L or comparable responsibility preferably in general management;
  • Technical background in the field of nuclear and/or industrial projects that allows you to work on complex projects
  • Proven experience in the development of large business opportunities and in complex sales
  • Proven experience in large industrial project management, contract management and claim management
  • Entrepreneurial experience or willingness to take a true growth challenge
  • You are well introduced in the local market and have a relevant external network within the industry and have experience negotiating with external stakeholders (lobbying, regulatory, …)
  • Proven ability to develop, manage and guide people within a cross-functional, international organization coupled with presence, assertiveness and strength of personality

Your mission

 

As Project Director in our Infrastructure division you will contribute to our mission everyday by playing a crucial role in the proper follow-up and execution of major integrated infrastructure projects,  each characterised by their specific context and often involving major works of art (tunnels, bridges,...).

  • Supervising the commercial trajectory of large projects in close consultation with the URBAN commercial team, taking into account the following aspects:
    •     identification and analysis of technical, financial and contractual risks
    •     validation of the technical content

  • The allocation and planning of staff to projects
  • Ensuring the overall management of the realisation of the projects in consultation with the project teams (contractual, financial, technical and management aspects)
  • Managing the project teams by indicating the objectives and guidelines to be taken into account during the execution of the projects (quality, cost, deadline)
  • Being the direct contact of the clients for the execution of the contracts, in particular: invoicing, payments, drafting of appendices and claims;

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

The development of utility-scale energy projects and subsequent participation in government and corporate tenders in Engie Southern Africa is led by a Business Development Department and supported by the Engineering Department. The general role of a Technical Project Manager (TPM) is to:

  • Define and Lead the technical aspects of projects in Pre-Development (Feasibility), Development (Bid/Tender) and Final Development Stage (Financial Close) stage, including interfacing with internal stakeholders, engineering consultants, technology providers, suppliers and contractors with the aim of:
    • maturing technical solutions through each phase
    • improving bid competitiveness
    • and ensuring technical governance and sustainability criteria are respected (quality, health & safety, efficiency, environmental compliance) for the construction, operation and maintenance of the asset. 
  • Be responsible for choice of technologies, technical configuration and for setting relevant performance, statutory, safety and quality requirements.
  • Be responsible for the prescription, procurement specification, adjudication and management of technical services and products.
  • Be responsible for drafting and negotiating owner techno-commercial specifications, including the incorporation of the latest group experience and technical guidelines.
  • Be in charge of all technical-related agreements during the development phase, including documentation drafting and contractual negotiation (e.g. EPC, PPA, OMA, LTSA, OE, LTA, IE etc).
  • Define procurement strategies and construction strategies in collaboration with the Business Development Department, Procurement Department and Construction Department.
  • Prepare Capex and Opex costs including market consultation and integrating feedback from Group assets and Group specialists.
  • Prepare the Operations phase philosophy and technical related documents (OM organization chart, O&M references, O&M Philosophy, etc.).
  • Assess and evaluate technical risks and advise and/or draft professional reports during the various stages of the project approval process.
  • Perform technology watch and share knowledge within the Engineering team.
  • Hand-over technical aspects and documents to the Project and Operations companies, and Provide ad-hoc support and advisory to operational assets and construction projects.

Education

Core Experience & Skills

  • A minimum of 12 years of experience in the power generation sector, specifically able to demonstrate experience and engineering expertise across 2 or more power generation technologies, including:
    • Solar PV, Onshore Wind, BESS, Thermal, CSP  
    • Ability to provide senior guidance and mentorship to Engineering team members
    • Ability to support manager in implementing strategy, process and governance within Engineering
    • Ability to provide advisory, technical expertise and management across the value chain of a power generation project.
  • A good understanding of the techno-economic life cycle and risk profile of a power project and knowledge in financial indicators for project follow-up
  • A comprehensive understanding of power plant development, the IPP model and the associated Project Finance technical requirements and interfaces.
  • Experience in scoping the technical works, reviewing & evaluating technical proposals, setting & assessing the performance of the works, and providing lifecycle advisory, guidance and recommendations.
  • Experience in leading and project/contract managing technical workstreams and internal/external stakeholders to drive the overall project objectives. 
  • Experience in translating technical requirements into commercial & contractual concepts in collaboration with the BD, Legal and Finance teams.

Advantageous Experience & Skills

  • Experience across multiple power generation technologies
  • Experience across multiple project phases (development, construction, commissioning, operations. decommissioning)
  • Experience with various project types and structures (greenfield, brownfield, acquisitions, divestments, project finance, equity finance, government and corporate PPAs).
  • Knowledge of energy market players (Suppliers, Contractors, Consultants, Competitors) and industry practice would be advantageous

Werkomgeving

Je werkt als ingenieur stabiliteit (geotechniek) voor infrastructuurprojecten, vanuit ons kantoor in Gent of in Hasselt, binnen onze afdeling Transport Infrastructuur, de afdeling binnen Tractebel die voornamelijk projecten ontwerpt/studeert met betrekking tot wegen, tramverbindingen, luchthavens, tunnels en bruggen. 
Naast het ontwerpen van wegen is het ontwerpen van rioleringssystemen een tweede belangrijk onderdeel, rekening houdend met de klimaatsverandering en een duurzaam gebruik van het (regen)water.
 

Taken

  • Je werkt mee aan infrastructuurprojecten voor het ontwerp van snelwegen, gewestwegen, wegen in een stedelijke omgeving, openbare ruimten, tram,- metroprojecten...in België
  • Je werkt mee aan de algemene kwaliteitsverhoging van de projecten in kader van duurzaamheid en milieu-impact op de omgeving, niet alleen in ontwerp, maar eveneens om de impact tijdens de uitvoeringsfase te minimaliseren
  • Je werkt in een team en je bent de sturende kracht voor de opmaak van de taken hieronder opgenomen:
  •     Analyse van geotechnische eigenschappen op basis van on-line data
  •     Gerichte opmaak van een beproevingsplan geotechniek, desgevallend rekening houdend met richtlijnen van onze klant
  •     Interpretatie van geotechnische onderzoeken, vastleggen noodzakelijke verfijningen in het kader van  schadevrij werken
  •     Opmaken en/of begeleiden van zettingsberekeningen
  •     Opmaken en/of begeleiden van sterkteberekeningen leidingen in diverse materialen (in easypipe volgens norm ATV127 ), alsook opmaken/begeleiden berekeningen in Plaxis

Profile 

  • Je hebt het diploma van Master in de Industriële of Ingenieurswetenschappen (Industrieel of Burgerlijk Ingenieur): Bouwkunde
  • Je bent op de hoogte van recente ontwikkelingen binnen het gebied
  • Je hebt de ambitie om te innoveren (methodieken en in het vakgebied zelf)
  • Je hebt 10 jaren ervaring
  • Je kan je mondeling en schriftelijk vlot uitdrukken in het Nederlands en Engels. Frans is welkom
  • Je bent stressbestendig en weet onder druk je focus te houden met een gezonde dosis assertiviteit en diplomatie 
  • Communicatief ben jij heel sterk 
  • Werken in teamverband is voor jou vanzelfsprekend en motiverend (samenwerking met andere project/ disciplineleden, met overheden en stakeholders)

Jouw missie  

 

Als Sr Project Manager Infrastructure in onze afdeling Infrastructure, vanuit ons kantoor in Gent of Hasselt,  draag je elke dag bij aan onze missie door een cruciale rol te spelen in het ontwerpen en bestuderen van projecten zoals wegen, tramverbindingen, luchthavens, tunnels en bruggen. 
Daarnaast speelt het ontwerpen van rioleringssystemen een cruciale rol, met aandacht voor klimaatverandering en duurzaam waterbeheer.


Je belangrijkste verantwoordelijkheden  
 

  • Als Senior Project Manager Infrastructure ben je verantwoordelijk voor het geometrisch en structureel ontwerp van snelwegen, gewestwegen en stedelijke wegen, trams, metro's en start_en landingsbanen. Je richt je voornamelijk op projecten in België (Vlaanderen en Brussel), waarbij je betrokken bent bij alle fasen van het project, van initiatie tot oplevering.
  • In je rol houd je rekening met alle aspecten van infrastructuurstudies, waaronder ruimtelijk ontwerp, mobiliteit, veiligheid en duurzaamheid. Je zorgt ervoor dat projecten voldoen aan de geldende wet- en regelgeving en werkt samen met diverse stakeholders, waaronder overheidsinstanties, ingenieurs en aannemers.
  • Met minimaal 7 jaar ervaring breng je diepgaande kennis van infrastructuur en projectmanagement mee. Je hebt uitstekende communicatieve vaardigheden en werkt graag in teamverband, waarbij samenwerking en motivatie centrale waarden zijn.
  • Daarnaast blijf je op de hoogte van de nieuwste ontwikkelingen en innovaties in je vakgebied, zoals duurzame technologieën en slimme infrastructuuroplossingen. Je hebt een proactieve houding en draagt bij aan het verbeteren van processen en werkwijzen binnen het team.

 
We horen graag van mensen met  
 

  • Een relevante opleiding – Master diploma ingenieurswetenschappen of industriële wetenschappen, in civiele techniek, infrastructuur of aanverwante vakgebieden.
  • Minimaal 5 tot 7 jaar ervaring – Relevante projectmanagement ervaring binnen de infrastructuursector.
  • Technisch ontwerp – Kennis van geometrisch en structureel ontwerp van infrastructuur.
  • Regelgeving en duurzaamheid – Inzicht in relevante wetgeving en duurzame praktijken.
  • Softwarevaardigheden – Bekendheid met Ms Office, AutoCAD, Civil 3D en projectmanagementsoftware (MS Project)
  • Budgettering en risicobeheer – Vaardigheden in kostenbeheer en risicoanalyse.
  • Stakeholdermanagement – Ervaring in het beheren van verwachtingen van belanghebbenden.
