2. PURPOSE

 

Responsible for coordinating HSE requirements on site and ensuring that hazards and risks are identified in a proactive manner and appropriate controls, processes and procedures are in place and followed to ensure that work is performed in a safe and environmentally acceptable manner in line with Client (Anglo American) and ENGIE requirements and establish and influence a pro-active culture and good safety culture.

4. KEY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Primary contact for all HSE matters relating to Engie Hydrogen Mogalakwena (Pty) Ltd.
  • Ensure compliance with statutory or regulatory on site, in line with Anglo American and ENGIE group specific requirements.
  • Review Anglo American requirements on site and update the Governance HSE Plan to ensure that the interfaces have been identified and confirmed for each of the key areas.
  • Ensure ongoing communication with nominated Anglo American representative(s) and Hydrogen Plant Manager appraised.
  • Revise and update HSE procedures or processes to adapt for operational sustainability.
  • Advise on and Implement risk management programs such as  Job Risk Assessment (JRA), SLAM/ LMRA, working at height, confined spaces, Hot work, lifting operations.
  • Implement and ensure compliance with incident / event reporting program for both Anglo American and Engie line of reporting, including compiling of incident investigation report.
  • Review and ensure compliance with the Permit to Work procedure on site.
  • Develop and lead HSE inspection and audits programs.
  • Review and evaluate Contractor’s and Sub-Contractor / service provider HSE documents for accuracy and compliance to ensure Contractors do not mobilize to site unless their HSE plan has been approved.
  • Support and monitor Contractors / Sub-Contractors’ implementation and full compliance with the established Safety expectations.
  • Ensure that Environmental requirements, with specific attention to prevention of pollution and the management of the waste streams have been implemented and are being respected on site.
  • Conduct Risk Assessments and ensure contractor(s) are carrying out internal risk assessments
  • Co-ordination / focal point for all scheduling of work scopes / interfaces and to lead daily meetings of all safety representatives to ensure that all works are approved for the following day and week / month lookahead
  • Provide discipline safety expertise and advice (e.g., risk (Job Risk Assessment, SLAM) management, Visible Felt Leadership, compliance to ENGIE Life-Saving Rules, PTW, Critical procedures, Work at Height, Confined Space Entry, Lifting etc.).
  • Conduct and lead HSE promotion and awareness campaigns.
  • Conduct HSE training including HSSE Induction and awareness for personnel, supervision, visitors, and contractors as required.
  • Maintain Corrective Action management system and lagging & leading indicators.
  • Perform surveillance activities including inspections (equipment, hazards, and behaviors) and contractor audits and report / implement improvement programs as necessary.
  • Advise on training matrix and training plan for EHM team on site at the hydrogen plant.

 

 

 

 

Security & Emergency Response Management

 

  • Liaise with Anglo American and monitor implementation of security and access control protocols for site.
  • Lead and advise emergency management in conjunction on with Anglo American.
  • Advise on the implementation of the site emergency response program for EHM team.
  • Liaise with Anglo American Security services regarding local Security situations as necessary.
  • Report on Security Incidents and on any important security issues when needed and ensure reporting on Security incidents the ENGIE Security Correspondent for South Africa.

 

Key deliverables

  • Establish a HSE framework (policies, rules, procedures, templates, tools, HSE Objectives and action plans as required and advised by the ENGIE HSE Country Manager and required by the Operator and Anglo American.
  • Engage Anglo American, contractors, service providers on safety matters.
  • Coordinate Anglo American Passport 360 and onboarding requirements.
  • ENGIE and Anglo American HSE Reporting requirements.
  • HSE Training matrix and plan in line with Anglo American requirements, legislation and ENGIE/Risk based.
  • Coordinate with Anglo American representative for the conducting of hygiene surveys for the operations.
  • Establish Baseline HSE risk assessment.
  • Compile Operational HSE Plan, procedures and establish processes as identified.
  • Support Operations and maintenance personnel on HSE issues.
  • HSSE Induction specific for Engie Hydrogen Mogalakwena (Pty) Ltd.
  • Conduct and review risk assessments in conjunction with Operations and maintenance personnel.
  • Conduct HSE inspections, audits and incident investigations as required.
  • Organize, together with Anglo American and Crisis Alert Exercise for site.
  • PPE and signage requirements and procurement.
  • Compilation and maintenance of lagging and leading incidents.
  • Organize HSE Communications, toolbox talks, briefings and HSE team meetings.
  • Transfer of skills and knowledge as required to Engie Hydrogen personnel as required.

 

Governance

  • Direct report to Engie hydrogen Plant Manager responsible for HSE matter for site.
  • Member of Plant HSE Committee
  • Functional line report to ENGIE Country HSE Manager

Education

  • Degree/Btech/National Diploma in Health and Safety Management  or related qualification.
  • Min 5 years in plant operations, construction, or service industry.
  • 3 years’ experience in MHSA or Anglo American group standards.
  • Technical qualification background will be an added advantage.

Location / Travel

  • Location – Anglo American Mogalakwena mine, Limpopo Province
  • Travel not foreseen but may be requested.

Job Summary:

ENGIE South Africa is looking for a GET Implementation Project Leader. GET stands for Global Enterprise Transformation and is a key project launched by ENGIE in 2022 to standardize ERP systems and process around the world. This role involves leading the transformation of Finance and Procurement processes while identifying and addressing gaps to ensure the organization’s long-term growth and efficiency. The GET Lead will collaborate closely with functional teams, local leadership, and cross-functional departments to execute the transformation, mitigate project risks, and optimize processes. This position will report to the Country CFO and to the Regional (AMEA) GET Project Leader and is pivotal in ensuring the successful implementation of our new ERP system, allowing us to simplify and standardize our processes.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Global Enterprise Transformation (GET) Rollout & Implementation:
    • Oversee the implementation lifecycle of S4Hana and its satellite systems in South Africa, from planning and deployment to post-go-live support.
    • Coordinate with functional leads to identify critical gaps through analysis and assess whether a global update or local solutions are necessary.
    • Work closely with local leadership and teams to ensure the transformation is effectively rolled out, ensuring alignment with global goals.
  2. Gap Identification & Solution Implementation:
    • Identify major and critical gaps in processes and systems, coordinating with functional leads to address them.
    • Recommend solutions and drive necessary changes to meet local needs while aligning with global standards.
  3. Testing & Quality Assurance:

  • Technical Skills: Knowledge of SAP and S4Hana is a significant advantage. Expertise in Finance and Procurement processes is critical. Knowledge of process automation and digital transformation initiatives is a plus.
  • Project Management: Certification in project management is a plus.
  • Leadership: Proven ability to lead cross-functional teams and manage stakeholders effectively.
  • Communication Skills: Strong interpersonal and communication skills to engage with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Adaptability: Ability to lead in a fast-paced, evolving project environment.

Type of Contract:

  • Fixed term contract. The mission is expected to last 18-24 months.

2.  KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Be trained and developed in assisting the Shift Charge Engineer to supervise and oversee daily plant operations and maintenance in the Operations Shift Team in order to ensure that operational targets are achieved safely, efficiently and within the company rules and procedures, OEM guidelines, legal, environmental, contractual and other requirements;
  • Assist to establish the appropriate procedures and computerized maintenance management processes as applicable to a prudent operation management, in particular the permit to work system;

2.  KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Day to day efficient management of all plant operation activities through a team of site based staff according to good utility practice, dispatch instructions, the company rules and procedures, OEM guidelines, legal, environmental, contractual and other requirements;

 

  • Responsible for company safety rules and Permit-to-Work system and driving the safety culture

 

  • Development of the short and long term operation strategy for the plant and the development of capable staff to support that strategy;

 

  • Ensure the operation department staff is selected, mobilized and maintained as required;

4.  JOB CONTEXT:

 

  • Peakers Operations (“the Company”) operates two open cycle peaking power facilities through its O&M Agreements with the Owners of Dedisa Peaking Power Pty Ltd and Avon Peaking Power Pty Ltd;

 

  • Dedisa Peaking Power Plant and Avon Peaking Power Plant has capacity of 342 MW and 685 MW respectively;

 

  • The Company is fully owned by ENGIE with registered office: Block E, Lincolnwood Office Park, Woodlands Drive, Woodmead, 2191, Johannesburg, Republic of South Africa;

 

  • The Owner Company is 38% owned by ENGIE, 25% by Mitsui, 27% by BEE SPV and 10% by BBBEE SPV;

 

  • The projects are Independent Peaking Power Generation projects, having a 15 years Power Purchase Agreement (PPA) with Eskom Holdings as a single off-taker;

 

  • The Job Holder will be based at the Facility.

  • The Job Holder works as head of the operation department of the Facility and reports to the Plant Manager.

PURPOSE OF THE ROLE

  • Provide procurement support to all South African operational entities across a defined set of categories, assets, owners and O&M companies.
  • Implement the defined short and medium term procurement strategy with all concerned departments.
  • Consolidate the requirements from the entities, consult the market, identify opportunities to implement framework agreements and work closely with entities to place contracts and purchase orders.
  • Execute the sourcing events. Run the full process from start to finish.
  • Identity business synergies between the operating entities.
  • Support assets during the construction phase of the plants.
  • Coordinate entities’ needs by activity in compliance with Category Management and Hub/Entity Procurement organizations, rules and governance.
  • Contribute to achieving the department savings and performance targets.
  • Work closely with the H&S teams at the sites to implement the Engie minimum HSE standards for all sub-contractors.
  • Enforce the Group procurement policy and governance when procuring all goods and services.
  • Support the warehouse stock, inventory, ordering, and replenishment process for the entities in the scope.
  • Ensure good relations with suppliers and vendors and build up a vendor database;
  • Support the implementation and roll out of digital tools for procurement such as the ERP system;
  • Assist with procurement reporting and data collection as and when required.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

 

Help internal clients to formalise / express their needs

  • Assist with and optimising procurement requests.

Within the framework of the procurement category policy produced for a Group category:

•            Based on requirements, identify the budget and establish tender assessment criteria.

•            Issue RFP’s for tenders / requests for quotation among target suppliers.

In other cases, manage the whole Procurement process:

•            Based on requirements, identify the budget and establish tender assessment criteria and procedure.

•            Scan the market to identify potential suppliers.

•            Roll out the tender process.

•            Identify, analyse, evaluate, execute and document and exception (emergencies and urgencies) to the process with the proper authorisations.

Negotiate the specific terms and conditions with the suppliers.

Finalise the supplier and prepare the contract / purchase order.

 

Ensure proper execution of the contract / purchase order

  • Ensure Purchase orders / contracts are approved according to the Procurement delegation.

Co-ordinate with suppliers and internally
