Objective & responsibilities

Provide expert technical support in a broad domain of chemical processes to the operating assets and the center of excellence for water desalination with the objective to:

• Develop O&M corporate & local governance procedures for new and existing projects.
• Raise the operational performance of the assets.
• Develop action plans to preserve asset integrity and maintain life span of equipment.
• Improve chemical process safety through Risk identification and mitigation.
• Lead analyses programs required to identify critical operational performance and process safety.
• Reduce operating costs involving chemical processes and optimize investments.
• Improve the assets availability, reliability and efficiency involving chemical processes.
• Support investigations and Root Cause Analysis of chemical process failures.
• Conduct Peer reviews under ENGIE Operational Excellence Framework.
• Provide support on specific asset or project based assignments on request.
• Expertise is extended to new technologies incorporating  NH3, and H2.
• Identify and assess new chemical suppliers

Provide expert technical  and engineering support to the Project Development Team and ETSG team to:

• Support & review operational & technical requirements to optimize efficiency for new projects.

• Support in optimizing consumption of chemical consumables and budgetary estimates.
• Investigate on alternative to the actual and commonly used chemicals in the Power and Water plants.
• Review and approve final dosing rates during development phase of the project.
• Contribute as needed to HAZID, HAZOP and other technical assignments related to project development and Chemical process Safety.
• Support review and development of new technologies involving Chemical process engineering.
• Expertise is extended to new technologies incorporating  NH3, and H2.

Bring expertise and contribute to transversal initiatives launched within the BU on chemistry related projects and actions, more particularly by :

• Support procurement team in fleet level optimization of chemicals contributing to efficient commercial bids.
• Support identification and evaluation of new suppliers & products.  
• Support sustainability and environmental compliance initiatives.
• Provide training and pursue professional development, including research, review and validation of latest technological advances in the field of chemistry processes and asset integrity.
• Liaise with Engie Group competence centers and expertise to ensure experience sharing and best practice for the BU activities.
• Lead the Chemistry Networking Group to develop community, cross functional knowledge and group targeted initiatives.
• Lead initiatives and projects including but not limited to corrosion management of installations.
• Support programs around digitalization of data management and KPI’s.
• Expertise is extended to new technologies incorporating  NH3, and H2.

Reporting Line

The Head of chemical process Engineering will report to the Head of Operational Excellence & Process Safety within the TOS (Technical & Operational Support) team.

Degree / Experience     

Master of Science in Chemistry or Chemical Process Engineering.

Minimum 10 years technical & management expertise within a management position in the field of industrial chemical process engineering.  Fundamental knowledge of new technologies including, but not limited to ammonia and hydrogen production processes.

Specific Knowledge / Skills

• Expertise in process and chemical treatment of in Power Plants.
• Expertise in Process and chemical treatment of Desalination Plants (MED,MSF and RO).
• Knowledge of International and local Standards and policies that govern the Chemical treatment of Power and Desalination Plants.
• Expertise in

• plant condition and inspection protocols.
• COSHH, MSDS and laboratory safety protocols.
• plant preservation protocols & chemical cleaning processes.
• Process failure investigation and remediation related to chemical processes.
• Laboratory processes for sampling, calibration, monitoring and analysis.
• Emergency actions to be taken in the event of plant contamination or prevention of environmental breaches.
• plant materials and selection, protective coatings, cladding and linings.
• Cathodic protection & corrosion drivers, prevention and remediation.
• Process and potable water production methods.
• Knowledge of waste water treatment systems.
• Environmental compliance requirements and emergency protocols.
• Ammonia and hydrogen production on industrial scale.

• Strong abilities to utilize Microsoft Office tools and administrative reporting.
• Proficient in using / introducing digital tools and packages to facilitate operational activities.
• Curiosity required to stay up to date in technical fields of interest.
• Ability to translate quantitative analysis, field experience & best industry practices.
• Ability to understand the nature of a technical issue quickly and effectively, and to define a few potential alternative solutions.
• Good knowledge of diverse sources of in-depth technical expertise both internally (within O&M companies, at ENGIE AMEA, at ENGIE Group) and externally (vendors, engineering companies, …)
• Ability to mobilize technical experts and bringing them together for the solution of an issue.
• Champion the use of various knowledge management and sharing practices and tools, including Yammer, email, teams, share-point, conference calls and face-to-face meetings
• Sound analytical skills required to identify individual and common  commercial opportunities across the fleet.
• The ability to translate a complex technical issue in clear management language.
• Solid understanding of the economic aspects of technical solutions (e.g. for new project development, maintenance optimization, asset lifetime management, vendor negotiations, …)
• Ability to play an important role in inter-departmental projects, both as a leader & team member.
• Strong interpersonal and network management skills.

Job Purpose/Mission 

The Head of Product Management is responsible for developing and executing a product strategy that brings life-changing impact to our customers while meeting the business goals of EEA. This is a cross-functional leadership role, requiring experience and understanding in customer research, product and technology development, and business strategy. The Head of Product Management will facilitate the Product team to execute on discovery, definition, development, launch, refinement, and end-of-life of EEA products. The incumbent of this role owns EEA global product catalog and will work closely with EEA global and country management to ensure the EEA product catalog is the most competitive and meets the needs of customers and the business across all markets.  

Responsibilities   

• Lead creation and realization of a competitive global product strategy 
  • Coordinate with company leaders to develop the 3-5 year product strategy to meet the company goals 
  • Create and maintain EEA product roadmaps aligned to the overall corporate strategy 
• Own the execution and management of the complete product portfolio across all stages of the product life cycle 
  • Drive the timelines and standards along the life-cycle 
  • Work with Strategic Marketing organisation to develop the product partnerships that  maximize the product value proposition 
• Recruit and manage a team of product managers to realize product goals 
  • Set product team KPIs and manage team resources 
  • Drive the adoption of best-practices in product management through mentorship 
• Support and implement the EEA product development processes 
  • Coordinate with Engineering and Supply Chain managers on how to best deliver solutions to markets with given resources 
  • Facilitate the Build vs Buy decision process 
• Manage the P&L for the consolidated product portfolio across all markets 
  • Develop and track standards and KPIs for measuring the product performance 
  • Guide the decision to create, keep, or remove products 
  • Be responsible for the commercial viability and cost management of the product portfolio 

Deliverables & Activities 

• Work cross-functionally with managers from commercial, credit, customer experience, finance, operations, quality, and manufacturing to develop the most effective product strategy for our customers. 
• Represent the voice of the customer as it relates to EEA products globally within the management team. 
• Ensure the EEA product portfolio is always meeting EEA’s goals for quality, inclusivity, customer experience, and profitability. 
• Support development of strategic product partnerships necessary to realize a competitive product lineup 
• Provide global oversight of product positioning, pricing, and promotion for country teams 
• Represent EEA products and product strategy within the company, to shareholders, and to 3rd party partners.

Experience: 

• 10+ years of experience working in product management and related fields 
• Leadership experience in portfolio or program management 
• Management of planning and executing against product vision, product strategy, and product roadmaps 
• Ability to collaborate with cross-disciplinary and geographically diverse teams as well as external parties and partners. 
• Experience building & maintaining pricing and sales models 
• Experience managing the P&L of a product or portfolio of products 
• Commitment to serving the needs and improving the lives of rural households across Africa 
• Experience delivering products into Sub-Saharan African markets particularly in the last mile environment 
• Ability to deal with both operational and strategic topics 
• Exceptional quantitative analysis skills and an understanding of effective technical communication and data visualization methods. 
• Excellent written, verbal, and presentation communication skills 
• Excellent Microsoft Excel and Powerpoint skills (Sharepoint experience nice to have)

Your responsibilities as an Electrical Transformer Expert

You will join a team of experts based in the client offices. The team will be composed of 4 Experts and one project Manager responsible for the overall client management. During the onsite assignment, you will be required to :

• Support the client on Transformer asset inspection and health index estimation
• Recommend preventive and reactive maintenance activities based on the condition of the client Transformer assets.
• Support client during major incident by providing recommendation to repairs or restore failing Transformer equipment.
• Challenge OEM on the recommendation given to our client and support client during repairs activities on Transformers.
• Collaborate with Engie Laborelec Headquarter colleagues to study or analyse major equipment failures
• Serve as specific field’s expert Transformer technical advisors for our client on the subject matters.
• This assignment will require the experts to visit the sites jointly with the client maintenance crew.

Your profile as an Electrical Transformer Expert

• An engineering background with 10 years experiences as a Transformer Expert. You did your studies or have experience in Europe, North America, or Australia.

Our international team of 21 Mechanical and Thermal Processes engineers is already well known for its competence in complex problem solving for different component issues in the power energy business as well as general industry. We are also responsible for the online monitoring of more than 100 turbine shaft lines for clients around the world and are regularly called for on-site dedicated measurements and analyses in case of problems. Within Laborelec, our team works closely with the Materials, Non-Destructive Testing and Electrical expert teams.

What you’ll be doing

Your responsibilities as Vibration Project Engineer (F/M/X)

In order to meet the demand for activities related to the identification of problem root causes or design assessment within the Cluster Mechanical & Thermal Processes, we are looking for a Vibration and Mechanics Project Engineer who wants to develop his/her career in the field of Condition Monitoring and Vibrations analysis. 

In this role, you will be fully involved in the follow-up of vibration behaviour of turbo generator shaft lines involving complex root cause analysis of rotating machinery. You will also advise our customers regarding the best condition monitoring strategies for their specific assets based on your sound technical and up-to-date solutions knowledge.

You will work alongside a supportive team, and will have access to professional development opportunities to help you grow in your own career.

Specifically this means:

• Performing detailed vibration analysis of turbo generator shaft lines.
• Analyzing mechanical problems and vibration issues of power plant components, adding value in the interpretation of the results and proposed solutions.
• Providing advice regarding the condition monitoring potential of existing or new technologies.
• Participating in the remote condition monitoring service shifts of power plants main shaft lines.
