What You Can Expect

As a Utility Scale Resource Assessment Intern for grid-scale renewable energy at ENGIE North America, you will assist with the resource assessment capabilities of our wind, solar, and battery storage project development platforms. You will work directly with ENGIE resource assessment professionals to support our growing portfolio of grid-scale projects across North America.

 

In this role, you can expect to:

  • Gain valuable resource assessment and data management skills
  • Gain exposure to current renewable energy policies
  • Develop an understanding of wind and solar project development

 

You will support resource engineering by conducting large spatial and temporal data analytics and monitoring the health of meteorological towers.

 

 

 

What You’ll Bring

  • Must be at least a junior or senior (by the end of the spring semester) with a GPA of 3.0 or higher, working toward a bachelor’s degree in science, atmospheric science, physics, engineering, math, computer science, data science, statistics, or a related field.
  • Proficiency in Python scripting
  • Experience in wind and solar resource data processing
  • Experience with Windographer, Openwind, and Pvsyst
  • Proficiency in MS Excel macros and VBA scripting
  • Experience with GIS tools such as QGIS
  • Must have excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Must have the ability to think analytically, present ideas professionally, and work in project teams

 

 

 

Additional Details

  • The internship work term will be from June 2, 2025, to August 22, 2025, and with the ability to work a minimum of 20 hours per week, up to 40 hours per week for the Summer Intern session
  • This role is eligible for our hybrid work policy

Compensation

Hourly Range:  $24.00 - $34.00 USD hourly

Contexte:

Vous intégrerez l’équipe de recherche et de modélisation quantitative (QRM) qui s’occupe de valoriser et modéliser les risques des produits financiers présents dans le portefeuille de GEMS. Ces produits peuvent être des produits financiers ou physiques comme des actifs de production d’ENGIE. L’équipe QRM est divisée en plusieurs sous équipes dont une spécialisée sur le marché de l’électricité (QRM Power). Elle est constituée d’environ une douzaine de personnes qui travaillent quotidiennement avec les traders, structurers, vendeurs et IT.

 

Elle fournit différentes librairies écrites en Python ou C# qui sont utilisées pour

  • Créer des prototypes utilisés pour l’analyse des positions, pour le pricing de nouveaux deals et pour le monitoring du marché.
  • Calculer le PnL et analyser les risques des portefeuilles d’Engie grâce à des modèles stochastiques implémentés dans ces librairies.

 

L’équipe d’analystes offre aussi une capacité d’analyse technique pour aider le Trading à mieux appréhender les problèmes divers qu’il peut rencontrer dans son activité quotidienne.

 

Role:

Au sein de l’équipe QRM Power vous serez chargé :

  • interagir régulièrement avec les traders pour mieux comprendre leurs besoins business et leur fournir un support quantitatif adapté dans le cadre de leurs activités quotidiennes, définir leurs besoins en termes de modèles et les traduire en développements concrets.
  • interagir avec les autres Quants pour échanger sur les modèles, avec pour but de faire émerger de nouvelles idées et tirer parti du partage de connaissances avec les pairs.
  • développer dans la librairie de pricing officielle (en C# et python) en suivant les règles générales et normes de codage, afin de produire un code de qualité.
  • développer des outils de pricing « ad hoc » et des prototypes utilisés par le Front Office, en s’appuyant dans la mesure du possible sur la librairie de pricing.
  • collaborer avec d’autres Quants et équipes de GEMS (IS, Risk Methodo, …).

Plus particulièrement vous serez amené à travailler sur deux sujets :

  • Travailler sur le modele en cours de développement qui est un modèle HJM avec une vol stochastique :
    • Calculer les grecques par différentiation automatique en utilisant tensorflow ou jax
    • Implémenter un Monte Carlo pour le modele HJM vol sto avec differentes methoses d’optimisation et de reduction de variance.
    • Ajouter à la version deterministe un markov fonctional adapter au HJM
    • Tester le P&L explain des différents modeles HJM
  • Continuer les travaux sur un modele generatif pour déduire des données historiques une nappe de volatilite
  • Travailler sur un modele de machine learning: a generative model for arbitrage-free implied volatility surfaces écrit par Milena Vuletić et Rama Cont

 

Début de la mission : septembre 2025 pour une durée minimale de 12 mois.

 

Compétences techniques:

  • Connaissances approfondies en probabilités, calcul stochastique et analyse numérique.
  • bonnes connaissances en finance quantitative et théorie des options seraient un vrai plus.
  • Bonnes compétences en programmation orientée objet (C#, Python) pour développer des prototypes et des modèles de façon autonome.
  • Esprit d’analyse et de synthèse, rigueur, réactivité, autonomie, bonnes capacités rédactionnelles.

Commercial Correspondence:

  • Digitiza elementele de rețea (conducte, branșamente, stații, vane) și vei urmări încadrarea în termenele stabilite prin proceduri;
  • Introduce atribute în baza de date GIS pentru elementele de rețea trasate;
  • Extrage din GIS tabelele de degrupare a investițiilor;
  • Realizează corecții primare în GIS pe baza documentelor transmise de exploatare;
  • Printa hărți tematice (BEX și ORIGAZ).

 

Experiență, calificări, cunoștințe și abilități:

  • Studii medii finalizate cu diploma de bacalaureat;
  • Cunostinte operare aplicatii GIS: AUTODESK MAP 3D Enterprise, utilizare echipamente de tip GPS, soft prelucrare date GPS, MapEDIT, Microsoft Office – Excel;
  • Cunostinte functionalitati de transfer date GIS spre sistemele SAP (PM si FI-AA);
  • Demonstreaza raspundere pentru actiuni si rezultate;
  • Atentie la detalii;

Ce vei face:

Vei:

  • Realiza activități de actualizare baze de date GIS cu respectarea procedurilor, instrucțiunilor de lucru și asigurarea satisfacției clientului;
  • Executa lucrări stabilite de șeful ierarhic cu respectarea procedurilor de calitate și instrucțiunilor de lucru specifice.
  • Satisface cerințele clientului intern sau extern cu privire la respectarea programării și promptitudinea efectuării lucrărilor, precum și la calitatea acestora;
  • Realiza integral sarcinile de serviciu stabilite, comunicate în scris sau verbal de șeful direct sau superiorii ierarhici;
  • Răspunde de calitatea datelor introduse în sistemul GIS;
  • Trasa rețele  de distribuție gaze naturale în termenele stabilite de procedurile în vigoare;
  • Realiza modificări GIS în baza notificărilor primite prin intermediul aplicației integrate SAP PM-GIS;
  • Păstra și folosi în bune condiții toate mijloacele fixe și obiectele de inventar din dotare;
  • Răspunde de calitatea și eficiența lucrărilor, a datelor introduse în aplicațiile pe care le gestionezi;
  • Înregistra și arhiva documentele tehnice (PVRT, Fișa tehnică, planuri execuție) primite de la CEL și Exploatare;
  • Realiza prelucrarea și post-procesarea măsurătorilor topografice;
  • Digitiza elementele de rețea (conducte, branșamente, stații, vane) și vei urmări încadrarea în termenele stabilite prin proceduri;
  • Introduce atribute în baza de date GIS pentru elementele de rețea trasate;
  • Extrage din GIS tabelele de degrupare a investițiilor;
  • Realizează corecții primare în GIS pe baza documentelor transmise de exploatare;
  • Printa hărți tematice (BEX și ORIGAZ).

 

Experiență, calificări, cunoștințe și abilități:

  • Studii medii finalizate cu diploma de bacalaureat;
  • Cunostinte operare aplicatii GIS: AUTODESK MAP 3D Enterprise, utilizare echipamente de tip GPS, soft prelucrare date GPS, MapEDIT, Microsoft Office – Excel;
  • Cunostinte functionalitati de transfer date GIS spre sistemele SAP (PM si FI-AA);
  • Demonstreaza raspundere pentru actiuni si rezultate;
  • Atentie la detalii;
  • Capacitatea de a respecta termenele limita;

What You’ll Bring

You must be at least a sophomore (by end of spring semester) working toward a Bachelor’s or Master’s student working towards a master’s in Finance, Economics, Data Science degree or related field

You enjoy collaborating with several groups on projects, not afraid to ask questions

You will gain an understanding in forecasting models for renewable products based on market and economic growth indicators

You will assist in building and updating sales and marketing dashboards from multiple systems.

You have completed academic projects or gained experience in analytical skills, analyzing CRM data to identify potential customers for renewable product upgrades

What You Can Expect

As the Controls Engineer II for ENGIE FlexGen (Flexible Generation including Storage, Thermal, and Hydrogen) North America you will be a key developer in a cross-functional development group. Within ENGIE’s dynamic environment, you will be expected to design, implement and test control algorithms for Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS). Every day, you will provide input on controls, simulation and modeling development in a wide range of software development activities and occasionally be the sole development resource on a project.

 

 

 What You’ll Bring

  • Bachelor's degree in Control Systems, Electronic/Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or related field of study
  • A minimum of two (2) years of professional experience in developing controls systems
  • Experience in developing controls code using CodeSys, MATLAB/Simulink or other PLC Programming platforms
  • Experience developing or working with Human Machine Interface (HMI) development software such as Ignition, PanelView
  • Strong understanding of network communication architectures, telemetry, and protocols (Modbus, DNP3, OPC-UA, MQTT etc.)
  • Knowledge of Software in the Loop (SIL) and Hardware in the Loop (HIL) testing paradigms
  • Experience with software development lifecycle tools and version control using GIT
