What You Can Expect

As our Senior Pre-Construction Project Manager, you will review available information for early-stage projects and support the Development, Origination, and Business Development teams by providing constructability reviews, preliminary budgeting, and scheduling assessments. The Sr. PM will collaborate with both internal and external engineering teams and should have a strong technical understanding of Solar and Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS) projects. Additionally, the Sr. PM will work with ENGIE’s procurement team to issue purchase requisitions and negotiate with contractors and suppliers. This position can sit in Chicago, IL, (preferred) also open to candidates based in Ohio, Pennsylvania, Indiana, Massachusetts, Minnesota, or remote applicants) reporting to Manager of Pre-Construction.

 

  • Manages multiple Distributed Generation (DG) and BESS projects through various development stages to handoff for delivery, ensuring adherence to Health and Safety guidelines
  • Collaborates with engineering teams to review project designs, offering constructability insights and identifying potential cost savings
  • Supports proposal preparation by conducting site visits, creating risk assessments, and establishing preliminary budgets and schedules
  • Creates and monitors project schedules and budgets, providing regular updates to internal and external stakeholders and addressing budget-related issues
  • Coordinates site visits, secures necessary permits, and manages contracts with contractors and suppliers
  • Mentors junior team members and ensures all projects meet ENGIE standards, specifications, and legal agreements

 

 

What You’ll Bring

  • You hold a Bachelor’s Degree in Construction Management, Civil or Electrical Engineering, or related field

  • A minimum of five (5) years of experience in Independent Power Producer (IPP) firms, DG Development, Project Management, Engineering or Construction roles
  • You are Experience within the renewable energy industry; specifically, solar photovoltaic arrays and/or battery energy storage systems
  • You are an effective communicator with strong verbal and written skills, able to manage multiple assignments accurately and on time
  • You have experience in distributed generation and energy storage projects, with demonstrated leadership, critical-thinking, and problem-solving abilities
  • You hold certifications in Project Management (PMP), OSHA or NFPA safety standards, First Aid/CPR/AED, with a working knowledge of NEC code and AC/DC electrical system design
  • You are proficient in MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Project), Power BI, Procore, RS Means, Kevala, ArcGIS, Anderson Optimization, and have familiarity with CRM tools like Salesforce
  • You demonstrate excellent time management skills and adaptability in a dynamic, evolving environment
  • You show a collaborative approach and take ownership of your work, actively driving projects to successful completion

Compensation

Salary Range: $96,1000 – $147,660 USD annually

ENGIE North America is searching for a Utility Performance Engineering Intern. This role is based on campus at the University of Iowa in Iowa City, IA.  Engie currently collects real-time data from thousands of process points from the utility and building automation systems on the University of Iowa campus. This information is vital to maintaining the efficient operation of the University’s utilities.

 

Daily, you will use real-time and historical data to drive efficiency improvements and cost savings for the campus utility system which provides steam, electricity, chilled water, water and sewer services. Most of this data is collected using the PI System software which connects to control systems at the campus Power Plant, Chilled Water Plants, Water Plant and Electrical Distribution Systems as well as real-time metering for steam, electricity, chilled water and water meters at approximately 90 buildings. This data is used to populate real-time graphical displays as well as being stored long-term for analyses and reporting. 

 

Reporting to the Utility Performance Engineer, This position will split time working in the Power Plant and at the Energy Control Center located in The University Services Building (USB).

 

Hours are flexible but this person should average 10-15 hours/week during the hours of 7 am to 5 pm Monday-Friday.

  • Build replicas of automation displays linked to live data using PI Vision software.  Add and update tag in the PI System. Design reports using PI Datalink add-in to Excel
  • Assist with any other data entry or reporting as necessary 
  • Assist in the preparation of performance improvement reports, testing plans, and procedure updates 
  • Assist Operations, Engineering, or Management with gathering data and putting together trends to support studies, projects, or operational needs

What You Can Expect

As an Augmented Maintenance Project Support (AMPS) Technician or Traveling Solar, Wind, Bess Technician, your role involves providing onsite support services in the central region of Texas and surrounding areas. You’ll be responsible for project commissioning, inspection, troubleshooting, analysis, maintenance, repair, and upgrades of operational assets. These assets include wind turbines, solar panels, BESS storage technology, and high or medium voltage substations. Your focus will be on optimizing generation availability, improving operational reliability, and ensuring compliance with health, safety, and environmental standards. Reporting to the Director of Field Services (AMPS), you’ll deliver reactive, predictive, and preventive maintenance support, adhering to NERC requirements for inspection, testing, and documentation. This encompasses a wide range of equipment, from wind turbines and solar inverters to batteries, weather stations, PV arrays, breakers, transformers, regulators, capacitors, and reactors.

 

As an active participant in the behavior-based safety program, ensure that all team members and contractors comply with safety procedures and task-oriented job safety analyses. Communicate and enforce site safety rules through Site-Specific Orientations, Job Safety Analysis (JSA), and meetings. Demonstrate procedural compliance in site operation and maintenance by following established procedures. Facilitate daily work, including report production. Inspect, operate, and repair site equipment both directly and remotely. Coordinate High Voltage (HV) switching and curtailments with local utilities and the Independent System Operator (ISO). Maintain site equipment to the highest standards for availability, reliability, efficiency, and profitability. Use work planning skills, schedule activities, and follow up to ensure work conformance. Conduct routine inspections, prepare oil analysis samples, and use safety tools and personal protective equipment (PPE). Manage on-site work coordination among contractors and vendors, support technology upgrades, and maintain cleanliness. Comply with contractual and legal obligations impacting plant operation. Provide equipment operation training to contractors and other site employees. Consistently apply Job Safety Plan techniques, hazard controls, and permits to work (LOTO) when addressing plant abnormalities and equipment failures. Utilize computerized Work Order, Purchase Requisition, and Receiving software.

 

 

What You’ll Bring

  • Minimum two (2) years diploma in a technical program where you have learned AC/ DC electrical theory, understand reading blue prints and schematics, industrial electrical equipment including breaker, disconnects, transformers, contactors or Equivalent Military or Trade school
  • Minimum two (2) years of experience in Solar generation sites, Battery Energy Storage Systems, (BESS), Wind generation sites, Utility scale power plants, Sub-station POI, or Controls & Instrumentation Maintenance. Renewables Solar and BESS construction experience or commissioning power plants a plus
  • HV Experience. Trades qualifications and certifications acceptable: (HV Lineman, Electrician, Substation Technician, or Controls Technician)
  • Obtain AVO certification or equivalent as substation technician within 12 months of hire date
  • Be proficient in using and maintaining SCADA systems

  • This is a field position requiring daily travel to client site(s)
  • Must be available to travel domestically to other solar plants for emergencies and assist with outages up to 70% of the time

As the Project Manager II, working in a self-managed team concept, reporting to one of the campus Program Managers. As part of the ENGIE capital projects team based at the University of Iowa, you will be responsible for managing utility infrastructure capital projects associated with expanding and maintaining the utility system on the two local University campuses. Projects ranging in size from $100,000 to $15M, with completion of each taking the span of 1-3 years.

 

 

This position is being hired in support of a 50 year concession agreement to operate, maintain and enhance the University of Iowa’s utility system.  The projects you’ll take on will involve numerous and diverse projects in the areas of electric and thermal energy production and distribution, and storm- and wastewater infrastructure.

 

No two days are the same, starting with the development stage  you will be submitting reports and conducting meetings with Team members, subcontractors and stakeholders on a regular basis, providing oversight and sharing updates on projects and planning, solving construction challenges through collaboration  and clearing the path and working towards successful completion. The key measurements of success are successful completion of projects with no health, safety or environmental and public relations,  on time and under budget.  You will be managing contracts for both Design and construction of capital projects within the central plants, and managing project teams made of internal staff, external consultants  and Operations and maintenance staff.

  • You have a Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Engineering or other technical field Or,  a Bachelor’s degree (any major) and an additional two (2) years of Project Management experience in industrial projects in lieu of the Engineering / Technical degree

  • Construct creative credit solutions for structured transactions incorporating a quantitative and qualitative analysis
  • Evaluate and challenge computations of potential future credit exposure as prepared by the risk team
  • Collaborate with legal, commercial and risk teams to negotiate master agreements related to bi-lateral trading and structured transactions, including Power Purchase Agreements (PPAs)

What You Can Expect

Our Site Administrator I will be working with ENGIE’s Water Plant Operations and Maintenance Team and will report to the Water Plant Manager. This position is located at the University Of Iowa Campus in Iowa City, IA. 

 

The schedule offered is 7:00am – 3:30pm or 8:00am - 4:30pm Monday-Friday.

 

  • Every day you will be working with our water distribution, and plant personnel.  You will be responsible for generating purchase orders to vendors, and assisting with the expediating, delivery and close out of purchase orders. You will be using a computerized maintenance system (CMMS) to assign materials to work orders. Other frequent tasks include assisting with onboarding/ offboarding employees, scheduling training, and maintaining certifications for staff, purchasing of uniforms.   
  • You will maintain and monitor inventory, process invoices and purchase orders. You will be assisting the Plant Manager with cost and procurement controls, budget preparation and review, resolution of billing, vendor management, reports and correspondence preparation. You will also serve as a member of the local safety committee. 
  • Additional tasks include, Production of documents and reports as requested by operational leaders.  Completing data entry for customer billing, and supervising Interns data entry assignments. Maintaining routine plant operating logs and reports.

 

 

What You’ll Bring

  • Minimum education of  a High School Diploma or GED is required
  • Minimum of two (2) years of administrative or other relevant experience involving, purchasing, inventory or data entry
  • Thorough knowledge of administrative and secretarial functions

  • Oversee the implementation of environmental surveys including, but not limited to: biological resources, vegetation resources, wetland and stream delineations, cultural resources, and Phase I Environmental Site Assessments
  • Responsible for creating and maintaining a Register of Environmental Legislation of all applicable environmental regulations and for providing strategic advice to senior management of how to mitigate associated risk 
  • Review and track environmental key performance indicators (KPIs) and develop quarterly and annual reports analyzing trends and developing environmental objectives and targets to meet company environmental goals
  • Manage environmental risk assessments through the due diligence and audit process for existing facilities and potential new development project sites
  • Assess company environmental tools, processes and management systems and determine the level of organizational maturity.  Develop a strategy that will lead to a self-directed culture
  • Provide environmental technical advice to senior legal counsel when required to accurately interpret regulatory rules for compliance
  • Present solution alternatives when project issues arise and advise the Company’s executive management in clear, concise content and format to facilitate sound and timely decisions
  • Develop close working relations with federal, state, and local environmental protection agencies, influencing an outcome-based approach to legislative regulation interpretation and implementation
  • Create a service organization among all regional environmental advisors and managers to meet the permitting and licensing needs of Business Development in cost, schedule, and activity coordination
  • Share subject matter expertise across the international regions by leveraging the knowledge management platform to capitalize on environmental sustainability initiatives, strengthening the learning continuum
  • Evaluate and provide advice on environmental liabilities associated with purchase and lease of properties 
  • Manage implementation of company environmental tools (e.g. Environmental Management System (EMS) program)
  • Manage development of environmental reporting documentation as requested by head office in Paris, France (“GROUP”)
  • Collaborate among consultants, contractors, plant and corporate personnel to leverage their array of expertise when providing technical service in support of new projects and existing assets
  • Manage relationships between partners, suppliers, government bodies, contractors and communities regarding environmental matters
  • Develop and conduct training programs throughout multiple business units to inculcate a culture of environmental stewardship
  • Carry out other duties as assigned

 

 

What You’ll Bring

  • Bachelor’s degree in which you completed courses in Engineering or Environmental Science or related disciplines 
  • A minimum of ten (10) years of operational and managerial experience in an environmental compliance and business development role within the energy sector
  • Experience working with US and Canadian Federal and State/Provincial, and local government laws and policies relating to aquatic and terrestrial environments and land use entitlements relevant to renewable energy development
  • Experience working on projects on federal or Bureau of Land Management (BLM) lands.
  • Familiarity with and understanding of the Endangered Species Act, Clean Water Act, National Historic Preservation Act, and the National Environmental Policy Act and general means for complying with those regulations.
  • Familiarity with environmental compliance strategies and processes    
  • Exhibit mastery of root cause failure analysis tools and their application for noncompliance events  
  • Possess superior verbal, written, interpersonal and public speaking communication skills when interacting with both internal and external stakeholders, to include media relations
  • Exhibit high levels of emotional intelligence as a team leader in the development and implementation of an environmental sustainability strategy  
  • Proficient in database management, modeling and analyses in direct support of essential job functions

  • This role is eligible for our hybrid work policy
  • Must be available to travel domestically up to 30% of the time

Compensation

Salary Range: $128,400 – $196,765 USD annually

 

This represents the average expected pay range for a qualified candidate.

Actual offered salary may depend on geography, experience, industry knowledge, education, internal pay alignment, or other bona fide factors.

In addition to base pay, this position is eligible for a competitive bonus / incentive plan.
