Mission 

You will join the The Business Line Infrastructure of Tractebel.

As Project Director, you will be responsible for the management and implementation of Project Management Consultancy services of new build Large Infrastructures such as Data Center or other large multi-technics projects.

The role of the Project Director consists in the global project management on behalf of the Client of the project execution, including the organization of the staff, the elaboration of project procedures and processes, as per Tractebel and Client standards/tools, the Procurement of Packages to Specialized Contractors (SPCs), the Project Controls, the Commercial and Contract Management, the Construction Management, the QAQC, the Commissioning and Hand-over.

More specifically the Project Director has the following tasks and responsibilities :

 

  • Manage the PMC project team (approx. 40 persons), organize their works, meet them in groups or individually to ensure performance and well-being of the staff;
  • Organize presence of staff on site, back-ups, rotation during holiday period, or week-end/night works;
  • Manage the contact and interactions with the Client, and external stakeholders, formally (official meeting, correspondence) and informally (building relationships and interpersonal trust);
  • Report any major difficulties, concerns, risk to Tractebel Project Director / Project Sponsor, with anticipation;
  • Prepare the Project Execution Plan and others project supporting documents;  
  • Deliver the PMC services at the client satisfaction, together with the PMC team and the different project Key-persons, including but not limited to :
    • Project Controls : build-up the tools and monitor the schedule and cost progress as per Client’s requirement, including critical assessment of SPCs reporting and identification of any deviation/risk anticipatively;
    • Contract and Commercial Management : manage the different SPCs contract, manage the Change (requested by Client or by SPCs), keep records of changes, manage up-to-date financial reporting (earned value, invoiced amounts, etc.);
    • Risk Management ;
    • Construction Management : coordinate the works of the contractors on site, ensure optimized sequence of works, provide Work authorizations,
    • QAQC Management : including Factory Acceptance Test, quality control on site and hand-over to commissioning;
    • HSE Management : including design safety compliance (conformity and records of all law, regulation, standards to be complied with, at SPC level or at project level), Safety on site including Safety supervision and processes, compliance with Social Laws, etc.
  • Ensure good communication in the project: with the client, team members, vendors/partners, external stakeholders;
  • Monitor and ensure the satisfaction of the client and the Tractebel performance on the project (externally and internally);

Profile 

  • Master in Engineering or equivalent;
  • Minimum 20 years of professional seniority;
  • Minimum 10 years of experience in a Project Manager position on large Infrastructure Construction projects, preferably on multi-contractors project;
  • Experience on Data Center projects or similar large Infrastructure ;
  • Knowledge in procurement, construction, contract management, and multidisciplinary project are strong assets;
  • You think outside the box and dare to challenge the status quo;

The engineering services in the nuclear sector are expected to cover Nuclear New Build Projects, Medical applications, Small and Modular Reactors (SMR) and other nuclear applications. The office of Tractebel Engineering B.V. will be in the Randstad region with a hybrid mode of working.

 

Your function

 

The Project Manager (PM) will be responsible for the management and/or execution of the projects being led by TE BV with a deeper focus on the technical aspects while constantly striving to ensure alignment with the state-of-the-art and customer expectations. Acting in a support role to the E&O Manager and being responsible for:

  • Providing technical consultancy services to clients;
  • Reviewing project deliverables (design reports, analysis reports, calculations, documents, drawings…) and taking responsibility for the quality and technical integration of work being overseen;
  • Providing engineering support with the preparation of technical deliverables including design documents,  technical specifications, test procedures, commissioning plans, etc;
  • Interfacing with the Metiers to obtain data and resolve issues relevant to design;

Your profile 

  • You hold a Bachelor’s degree / Master’s degree from an accredited engineering and/or business university

Work environment

You will join the Finance Department of Business Entity Belgium which is responsible of business control, project control, invoicing and financial reporting of the Geographical Entity Belgium. 

 Mission 

As Finance Assistant in coordination with other colleagues:

  • You handle the requests for bank guarantees for our projects
  • You maintain the data in our database
  • You review on a regular basis the outstanding guarantees with the project controllers.
  • You follow-up the related deadlines.
  • You are in contact with our banks to discuss open issues 
  • You check posting in accounts to the correct project
  • You prepare re-invoicing of bank charges to other entities. 
  • You will work part-time (50%)
     
 

Profile 

•    You have a good knowledge of French or Dutch (English is a +)
•    You have an excellent command of office tools (MS Office) and you are particularly familiar with tasks relating to Excel (spreadsheet preparation and management), knowledge of SAP would be an additional asset.
•    You integrate easily in multidisciplinary teams, you are sociable, dynamic and prepared to take initiatives.
•    You have a strong analytical mind-set, you are well organised, accurate, rigorous, stress resistant and focused on meeting the schedules.

What You Can Expect

As our Project Management Director, you will need to be located in the Upper Midwest US with close proximity to a major airport. You will be responsible for the oversight of operational performance and delivery of energy projects located in the Detroit Metro area and upper Midwest region.   Projects are executed through a design-build-transfer or ENGIE asset-owned model. Every day, you will report to the Regional Operations Director of Distributed Energy Solutions focusing on the industrialization of activities inclusive of operational monitoring, refinement of key performance indicators (KPIs), and process improvement to operational activities to achieve given targets. The Director will have connection and involvement within all aspects of the engineering design and operational delivery process, as well as provide performance oversight on activities inclusive of forecasting, cash management, commercial development, and the expansion of the business into new geographies and/or market segments. Collaborating with the Sales team, you will evaluate and qualify opportunities and participate in customer presentations and interviews during the development phase, including Board and Council meetings as needed. As the primary customer contact during the development and implementation phases, you will ensure complete customer satisfaction with ENGIE’s services.

 

You will manage all technical aspects of project development, including scope development, savings analysis, and constructability of measures. Assigning tasks and responsibilities within the project team, you will document project progress. You will also create, edit, and review external deliverables, such as customer reports and contract documents, as well as internal documents like risk review packages and deal review documents.

 

Partnering with Legal and Finance, you will qualify vendors/subcontractors and negotiate all customer/vendor contracts and change orders. Coordinating with ENGIE’s construction manager and vendors/subcontractors, you will establish and monitor project schedules, making necessary adjustments and communicating changes with all stakeholders. You will manage installation budgets, approve revenue and expense invoices monthly, protect project cash flow by ensuring timely customer payments, and complete monthly forecasts. Ensuring all projects are properly set up and documented in Procore throughout the implementation and at project closeout will also be part of your responsibilities. You will coordinate with post-construction teams for savings guarantees and maintenance activities, ensuring a smooth transition at the end of construction.

 

You will primarily be working with public sector customers on infrastructure, renewable, and energy conservation projects. The bulk of your work will be with municipalities, K-12, and some higher education. Your ability to consistently deliver expected results will be a testament to your effectiveness as a leader in this role; setting metrics and objectives for your direct reports that align with company strategy and financial goals are essential.

 

 

What You’ll Bring

  • A minimum of bachelor’s degree in business, engineering, finance or related field; or a combination of related experience in the clean-tech industry inclusive of time pursing related education
  • A minimum of ten (10) years of experience in Project Management or similar experience
  • A strong understanding of energy analysis as well as engineering design in energy-related disciplines
  • Proficient in analyzing ECM costs and savings, and a thorough understanding of all ECM technologies being proposed
  • Experience in the low-carbon clean-tech industry, with preference for individuals whose roles have interfaced with solutions including but not limited to solar photovoltaic, battery energy storage systems (BESS), and energy efficiency activities
  • Extensive and proven knowledge of and experience in data construction management tools
  • Proven experience setting metrics and objectives for direct reports consistent with Regional and Company strategies and team financial objectives

 

 

Additional Details

  • This role is eligible for our hybrid work policy
  • This role requires attendance at a worksite on a rotation basis
  • Must be available to travel domestically up to 25% of the time with the need for some overnight trips
  • Must possess a valid U.S. driver’s license/clean driving record; with the ability to drive from office to customer sites
  • Must be willing and able to comply with all ENGIE ethics and safety policies

 

 

Compensation

Salary Range: $146,300-$224,135  annually   

 

This represents the average expected pay range for a qualified candidate.  Actual offered salary may depend on geography, experience, industry knowledge, education, internal pay alignment, or other bona fide factors.

In addition to base pay, this position is eligible for a competitive bonus / incentive plan.

YOUR FIELD OF ACTIVITY

As a Contract Specialist for Hydropower and Water Resource Projects, your responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:

 

  • Preparation and Compilation: Assist in or take full responsibility for preparing and compiling prequalification and tender documentation for the construction of hydropower, dam, and major water resource development projects. This includes Employer-designed, design-build, and EPC type contracts based on FIDIC standard conditions of contract (Red Book, Yellow Book, Silver Book, Pink Book, Emerald Book, and occasionally Gold Book and Green Book).
  • Support During Tendering: Provide support to the Employer during tendering, tender evaluation, and contract negotiations.
  • Contract Management: Manage construction contract matters on behalf of the Contract Administrator/Owner's Engineer, including preparation of variations, claim management, and representation during adjudication and arbitration.
  • Construction Scheduling: Support construction scheduling, including analysis and development for evaluating delay and disruption claims and determining extensions of time.
  • Technical Offers and Project Management: Participate in preparing technical offers for engineering services and provide support for related contract negotiations. Assist in project management for hydropower and water resource planning and implementation, including controlling interdisciplinary engineering teams.
  • Training and Development: Engage in training presentations, workshops, and continuous personal and professional development, including specialist training in construction law.
