Job Purpose:

     The Data Center Mechanical Facility Engineer will be responsible for Data Center Mechanical Engineering Operations within a Data Center including risk management and mitigation, corrective and preventative maintenance of critical infrastructure, vendor management and metric reporting. He is responsible for ensuring that all Mechanical, Pump, and Generator equipment within the data centre operates at peak efficiency. This involves both planned preventative maintenance of equipment, daily corrective work, and emergency response to emergent issues. They are expected to be a singular focal point for all Mechanical-related facility operations within a given data centre. Data centre equipment that supports mission-critical servers must maintain better than 99.999% uptime. This equipment includes but is not limited to, stand-by diesel generators, Secondary Pumps, Irrigation pumps and building automation systems.

Key Responsibilities:

The primary responsibility of the position is to manage (operationally) the data centre’s mechanical (cooling and Plumbing) infrastructure.

Ability to collaborate with the project team to establish new infrastructure equipment standards and operational methods for all the data centres and to ensure that existing standards are implemented.

Hold primary responsibility for the maintenance of data centre mechanical equipment from HVAC to complex piping and plumbing works.

Using industry best practices to ensure proper cooling analysis such as CFD analysis.

Liaise with the Operations Management team, facilities, IT teams, and procurement to ensure that all projects progress smoothly, on schedule, and within budget.

These projects include new installations, operational changes, scheduled maintenance, and equipment upgrades.

Manage contracts related to data centre infrastructure, liaise with legal on contracts, and work directly with contractors to ensure timely completion of all work.

Stay abreast of industry trends and new technologies related to cooling, monitoring systems, and floor layout.

Ensure best practices and global standards are in place for the data centre.

Perform daily checks of Mechanical Pumps, HVAC, BMS, VRV, VRF and life safety systems.

Collect and analyze data on various computing systems, maintain historical records, and provide management with statistical analysis as requested.

Monitor and adjust cooling in the data centre using DCIM and BMS to maintain optimal operating and environmental conditions.

Generate job cards & incident management tickets for the Data Center facility.

Work with DCO managers and other business leaders to coordinate projects, manage capacity, and optimize plant safety, performance, reliability, sustainability and efficiency.

Review DC contract compliance & ensure all SLAs are achieved.

Business interface with DC Management for day-to-day operational requirements.

Assist in recruiting efforts.

Delivery of exceptional customer service and satisfaction.

Maintain, and operate all Mechanical-related systems and associated equipment, building management system.

Responding promptly and efficiently to emergency calls.

Prepare and submit Monthly reports of conditions in buildings and recommend actions to be taken.

Comply with all safety procedures and requirements.

Maintain essential stock of spare parts.

Support any afterhours building needs and activities as required

Ability to handle rotation Shifts on Monthly basis

Familiarity with datacenter guidelines and standards especially Tier III design standards and ASME/ASHRAE/NFPA.

Skills Required:

 

Good knowledge of Mechanical systems like (Pumps, Chillers, Hydrant pump System, Irrigation pump Systems)

Basic knowledge of cooling systems (LV and ELV Systems)

  • You possess a High School Diploma or equivalent with 3 years training or experience in trade practice of steam engineering.  Must operate intuitively from previous knowledge in troubleshooting gauges and instruments on equipment to bring about satisfactory operation
  • You must have a 3rd Class DC Steam Engineers License
  • You are capable of understanding and operating complex operation of high-pressure steam and chilled water systems which can be operated several ways depending on operational needs
  • You have experience checking chemical analysis of boiler, condensate return, chilled water and condenser water system.  Adjusting chemical treatment to specified ranges established by chemical treatment company
  • You will record and monitor equipment operating conditions and report or adjust as required to maintain safe and efficient operation
  • You know how to review operational manuals, technical manuals and plant procedures
  • You have experience working from drawings and are capable of systematically and logically locating the problem when drawings are not available; as well as analyze plant processes, recommend, and implement improvements
  • You can translate and communicate operational problems to all levels of management
  • You will work with others to detect problems and implements solutions

What You Can Expect

Working remotely in the Northeast region, the Senior Photovoltaic (PV) Technician will be responsible for preventative maintenance, troubleshooting and repair of a large number of solar projects.

 

These are smaller scale projects currently the largest is about 5 Megawatts (MW). We do not do residential work. Knowledge of IT and SCADA would be beneficial. You will have gained strong customer service acumen, discussing scheduling of preventative maintenance, problems found and recommending options or requirements to repair or maintain the customers equipment. You will be responsible for ensuring that all work performed at client locations follows client and ENGIE’s required safety protocols. This position will require extensive travel with some overnight stays. Due to the remote nature of some facilities this position requires a valid state issued Driver’s License, and the ability to operate company provided vehicles.

 

Every day you’ll prioritize safety in everything that you do. You will be traveling to client sites, driving your Company provided truck. Servicing both ground arrays (up to 5 MW) owned by municipalities or corporations and smaller rooftop systems at some of your most recognizable retailers. Typical tasks are cleaning and testing panels, troubleshooting inverters, servicing, or updating networking / SCADA hardware/ software. You will be discussing service and upgrade options with the Regional Service Manager, and clients in the field, both on the phone and by completing detailed service reports explaining findings, actions taken and recommendations for future maintenance and upgrades.

 

  • Respond to trouble tickets
  • Develop work scopes for service work orders on repairs issues
  • Perform scheduled annual preventative maintenance services for PV systems
  • Review annual preventative maintenance service reports to identify issues that require corrective action
  • Provide feedback to the Regional Service Manager and plan the corrective action for scope of work
  • Maintain detailed expense records for all service calls including parts costs, tools, mileage, and timekeeping

 

 

What You’ll Bring 

  • A minimum of a High School Diploma or G.E.D.
  • A minimum of five (5) years of experience root cause analysis and repair of arrays and inverters; you will have learned to abide by and understand the safety requirements of the NEC electrical code, NFPA70 and OSHA 30
  • Developed expertise in PV design, installation, and/or maintenance
  • Troubleshooting experience with PV systems starting with the review of the PV System performance reports and then troubleshooting the underperformance issues as well as outages by troubleshooting arrays, inverters, and networking systems to the root cause
  • Ability applying technical requirements to commissioning, troubleshooting of solar electrical generation systems, and monitoring communication equipment
  • Experience in complying with contract terms as stated by an O&M and/or Performance Guarantee contract; specifically pertaining to the maintenance to be performed on customer sites with respect to customer safety requirements, DOJ Livescan and site access terms and conditions

As our Health and Safety Advisor in Houston, TX, you will be responsible for developing, implementing, and monitoring Health and Safety programs for the Operations and Maintenance (O&M) team, partnering with other Business Entities and Operating Companies’ and Health and Safety (H&S) staff to influence an organizational culture that leads to an injury free working environment. What You’ll Bring

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Safety Management, Engineering, or Business, certifications in OSHA Safety and Certified Safety Professional

What You Can Expect

As our Project Manager, you will work closely with the project development team from a project execution perspective, preparing projects for handoff to a construction PM. In this role, you will collaborate with our Engineering team to understand the technical aspects of system designs, facilitate the procurement of materials and labor to assemble the systems per validated drawings and specifications, and enforce strict health and safety requirements.   • Manage labor contractor relationships, master service agreements, health and safety registrations, contractor ethical requirements, and request for proposal documents to facilitate labor procurement and delivery for the construction management team
  • Track and analyze project-level spend and schedules against approved budget and schedule baselines, addressing any budget or schedule issues and processing changes to ensure accuracy before handover to the construction management team
  • Ensure contractual deadlines are met, required documentation is filed, and provide regular status reports to clients and external parties, including schedule and budget updates prior to handover
  • Collaborate with engineering and development teams to obtain permits, negotiate and comply with interconnection agreements, and deliver construction and staging drawings; assist installers and contractors by responding to Requests for Information
  • Work with internal and external procurement resources to obtain quotes and proposals for the project's entire scope across various suppliers

 

 

What You’ll Bring

  • You hold a Bachelor’s Degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or related field

  • A minimum of two (2) years’ experience in a Project Management, Engineering or Construction role
  • You have a working knowledge of the NEC code and AC/DC electrical systems design, with experience in the renewable energy industry, specifically solar photovoltaic arrays and/or battery energy storage systems
  • You are physically able to visit and walk renewable energy sites throughout the US for extended periods in hot or cold weather conditions, and you possess excellent oral and written communication skills
