Compensation

What You Can Expect
The Attorney located in Houston, Texas, reports to the General Councel ENGIE Energy Marketing NA, Inc., will be responsible for providing legal support to the U.S. wholesale entity of ENGIE’s Global Energy Management & Sales (GEMS) business platform.  GEMS provides energy supply solutions and risk management services to support its clients through their decarbonization journey, while optimizing ENGIE’s assets and contributing to value creation.

  • Draft, review and negotiate:Master Agreements (e.g., NAESB, ISDA and REC agreements, together with relevant annexes) for various commodities and related derivatives (i.e., power, gas, emissions)
  • Long-term renewable power purchase agreements
  • Secured energy supply and credit facilities for retail electric providers
  • Other energy contracts (i.e., energy management agreements, hedging contracts, responsibly sourced gas agreements, gas storage and transportation contracts, intra-group contracts, brokerage contracts, etc.)
  • Pre-transactional documents, e.g., confidentiality agreements, letters of intent and term sheets
  • Credit management documentation (e.g., credit support annexes, letters of credit and guaranties) 
  • Ancillary agreements related to the GEMS’ team scope (IT Vendor Contracts, Service Level Agreements, etc.)
  • Assist in structuring complex hedge and other commodity transactions
  • Partner with GEMS compliance professionals to ensure maintenance of the highest commitment to regulatory compliance and satisfactory resolution of any related inquiries
  • Act as a subject-matter expert on legal and regulatory developments of commodities, provide training on topical issues to GEMS colleagues.
  • Provide legal support in relation to event-driven issues such as events of default, covenant breaches, claims of force majeure, acceleration, and enforcement and reservation of rights while advising on the impact on the company’s financial position

 

What You’ll Bring

  • Must have Juris Doctor (JD) from an ABA accredited law school Must be licensed to practice law in one of the fifty (50) United States

About the role

The purpose of the role is to develop, negotiate and implement contracts to purchase electricity and gas exported to the Grid by generators, together with embedded benefits and any associated green certificates.

Key Responsibilities

  • Accountable for the delivery of budget export margins on an individual basis within the Power Purchase team; sign New Business and renew existing business.

  • Business Development – Establish contact and build relationship with potential new business partners including banks, financiers, consultants, lawyers or direct customers.
  • Account Management - maintain and develop relationships with existing customers. Organise and attend events and meetings.
  • Build Portfolio – Origination of Power, Gas and Renewable Certificates. Propose PPA deals to internal stakeholders to attain sanction according to internal processes. Follow internal governance (including writing investment proposals) and present proposals to UK and European board level.
  • Contract Development and Legal Review - Liaise with ENGIE Legal department to tailor customer-specific contracts and review existing terms and conditions to maintain ENGIE’s commercial interests.
  • Investment Appraisal – build financial models to forecast expected margins and spend levels for proposed contracts.
  • Process Improvement – Ensure internal processes are efficient and fit for purpose.
  • Product Development - Provide intelligence for and assist the Product Development Team in researching and developing a range of market-leading Export Products, PPAs and Corporate PPAs.
  • Risk Management – Adhere to, and assist with the creation of, Risk Policy. Adherence to internal processes and risk frameworks.

Key Requirements

  • Experience in Sales and/or deal negotiation

As a Senior Quantitative Analyst, you will report to Head of Asset Portfolio Management & Structuring, you will leverage ENGIE’s large-scale Renewable and Battery Storage Portfolio to commercialize industry-leading Clean Power Product structures. You will play a pivotal role in developing next-generation models and strategies to facilitate first-of-a-kind market products. Working within the Renewable and Battery Storage Portfolio Management Team, you will apply knowledge of both traditional and exotic market products, coupled with a quantitative approach to modeling risk, that supports new transactions.

 

You will develop, maintain, and standardize models utilized to assess future value and risk associated with transactions conducted with the intent to maximize ENGIE portfolio value and minimize risk. You will utilize understanding of power markets, risk, renewables, and battery storage to formulate strategies by which to manage future risk introduced by new transactions and/or changing market conditions. Example functions include:

 

  • Developing statistical models that value current and future renewable and battery storage generation sold to downstream large energy consumers
  • Structuring exotic commercial products tailored to client’s sustainability needs and within desired risk limits
  • Standardized hedging and trading strategies intended to mitigate risk associated with complex bundled energy products
  • Pricing customized renewable off-take deals

 

In support of the aforementioned functions, you should also be able to assist in developing, maintaining, and streamlining fundamental and statistical models to assess market risk in Texas (ERCOT), Mid-Continent (SPP & MISO) , and Eastern (PJM) Power Markets. Example activities include:

 

  • Developing models to price bundled energy products in power markets
  • Establishing a fundamentally-backed perspective on future capacity and congestion markets across Wholesale Power Markets
  • Perform fundamental analysis in both Power and Gas Markets to understand the dynamics in demand, supply and infrastructure

 

You are also expected to support traders and originators during negotiations. Supporting responsibilities include:

 

  • Providing updates to pricing upon request, providing supplemental analysis and assisting in the negotiations of structured transactions
  • Proposing risk management strategies for the existing ENGIE portfolio with the intent of maximizing portfolio value and minimizing risk

 

 

 

 

What You’ll Bring

The Expertise Center Global Market Analysis (GMA) is looking for a Senior Expert Power Market Analyst.

He/She will report to the leader of market analysis for mid term power markets.

The market analyst teams develop consistent market views (gas, power, oil, emissions, weather) to explain market moves and forecast future evolution ; build and run forecasting & simulation models ; propose, enhance and follow trading strategies ; pro-actively seek innovative solutions to improve sales, traders and business developers performance as well as to support senior managers in their decision making process ; provide market analysis reports and services to a defined set of internal and external clients ; provide strategic insights on new businesses linked to energy transition ; represent GEMS in external forum or conferences in relation with energy market knowledge, meteorology or hydrology ; producing economic and financial analysis for origination, negotiation, valuation and management of assets.

 

Role:

 

The Senior Expert Power Market Analyst will focus on the development of multi scenario fundamental power price forecast over 5 to 10 years. This project is of high importance for GEMS and Engie to improve asset & portfolio valuation, risk management and investment decision making.

He/she will work closely with the GMA Power Market Analysis teams and the Meteo Analysis team to coordinate the work and build on their expertise. He will also drive the collaboration with Engie Impact Advisory teams who contribute to the project. He/she will contribute to GMA internal fundamental modeling platform.

 

The senior expert analyst is accountable for the analysis performed by GMA teams for the asset and portfolio valuations. He/she is the point of contact with the NWE Power Cluster, Risk, AIFA and the new S&EM Portfolio entity.

 

The senior expert analyst will work closely with all market analysis leaders to share transversal activities and competences in the expertise center teams.

He/she will be in close contact with the Regulation teams in charge of defining and defending GEMS/Engie positions for future market design and regulation.

Context :

The Credit risk Analyst role is part of EC Risk Europe, the Risk Division of GEMS in Europe and will be managing credit risk resulting from the Energy Management, Global Energy & B2B Supply activities in Europe. Main responsibility is to overview the creditworthiness of the counterparties in these portfolios and manage the credit risk exposure accordingly (credit risk mandate, overdue monitoring…). Role:

 

Credit Analysis

  • In-depth credit analysis of European clients (analysis of the financials, sector analysis, market & environment, peers and SWOT analysis)
  • Rating recommendation and validation in ECR rating tool

  • Develop and implement processes to ensure costing parameters and methodologies used for pricing new C&I client deals are as accurate, competitive and aligned with market trends
  • Collaborate with the Risk and IT teams to advance the development of risk metrics, ensuring accurate representation of contracts and existing hedges within the risk management systems

What You’ll Bring

Context:

As Short Term Trader, you will play a pivotal role within the Short Term Trading desk, organized within the Short term Power as a Service.

The mission of Short Term Trading is to maximize  the revenues of  the ENGIE  power portfolio within the CWE region and maximize the value of intraday trading activities in the developing pan-European Intraday markets. As an intraday trader, your key responsibility is to multitask and be able to take decisions on a very short time frame based on a large dataset.

These activities are executed within a sub team of 9 people organized continuous 24/7 and taking up both Trading & optimization activities.

You will interact very closely with the Algorithmic trading development team.

 

Role:

In the role of Short Term Trader, you will be responsible for: 

  • Maximizing the CWE power portfolio revenues in intra-day, including renewable management, sales exposure and asset flexibility
  • Leveraging on our market expertise in order to maximize the value of our trading activities.
  • You will act as a single window to the intraday Market in order to cover the real time physical needs of our clients and re-optimize the asset portfolio against the intraday power market prices.
  • Develop strategies to maximize revenues and minimize the costs for our clients over the different time horizons of the short term chain
  • Develop cross-maturity models which can serve the portfolio of assets, intermittency, DSM and develop efficient strategies to capture trading opportunities on those different markets.
  • Delivering 3rd party services for external Customers.
  • Ensuring correct and timely delivered reporting of portfolio and market activities.
  • You work in a 24/7 shift system.

Context:

Within GEMS, the cluster Power NWE oversees managing commodity risks for the upstream and downstream portfolio, optimizing and balancing our power portfolio on short term and ancillaries’ markets and developing a commercial power franchise (Renewables and Flexible power assets). Ideally placed between the front office organization and the FinOps organization, BO RES belongs to the BP Power Trading and EC FinOps. BO RES is responsible for designing and operating all necessary controls and processes ensuring correct and smooth closing and invoicing processes of the contracts related to RES activity (i.e. PPA contracts). 

Role:

Within the BO RES team, your main missions will be :

 

  • Validate the correct representation of the financial part of renewable contracts in the deal capture system.
  • Deploy and industrialize the closing/invoicing processes in close collaboration with Operations and Finance teams by validating the contract representation in the invoicing system and controlling the amounts sent to BO Transversal Operations for invoicing.
  • Support the Customer Support in his exchanges with external counterparties, based on technical and contractual argumentation, to settle financial discrepancies.
  • Support the front office teams (contract negotiation and management, optimization desks, study teams) by giving input on the realization of contracts, helping in constructing new contracts or in the case of change in the market design.
  • Leverage their expertise to collaborate with front offices to ensure alignment between contract clauses and the technical feasibility within our Information Systems (IS), facilitating seamless integration and compliance.
  • Propose optimization and/or simplification of the contracts and processes.
  • Participate in the development of GEMS by providing support in settlement, closing and invoicing processes for new contracts on renewable energy assets.
  • Play a transversal role in sharing best practices and identifying potential synergies across the BO RES  community accross in the different countries where GEMS is present.
