Context:

Power IS covers the IS landscape for all Power short term activities within Gems, ie business activities handled from 1 week before delivery to physical delivery. This encompasses the generation of optimal production plans for the physical assets under Gems responsibility, trading on short term markets to sell the energy produced, physical steering of the assets, and communication with Power grid operators (TSOs) and regulators for nomination and transparency processes.

Power IS teams (~100p between Paris and Brussels) are responsible for the maintenance and evolution of the IS systems needed by business to support these activities.

The newly created team Industrial connectivity is aligned to BP Trading power and BP Spaas for their short term activities, and focuses on Industrial connectivity to physical assets, enabling realtime steering of Power production assets.

Role:

The position reports to the head of Power IS and will cover the following activities:

  • build and maintain the technical services steering Engie’s owned assets with the biggest power production capacity (Thermal plants, Hydro plants, Offshore wind parks) – Scada technology
  • build and maintain the technical services steering the Demand Supply Management (Kiwi technology)
  • steer the connectivity strategy, in particular when it comes to dealing with external partners for assets connectivity (Emsys, Krakenflex).
  • Participate to the contracts establishment with these external partners on the IS area. In run, ensure that the service is correctly delivered by these external partners IS-wise (SLA, security, …)

The scope of these services is NWE as a primary focus (BE/FR/NL/GE), with the ambition to extend to Europe in the future (UK, IT, Spain) with local resources.

Main activities and responsibilities:

  • Management of the team (10 to 20 people, permanents and contractors), in London and in Brussels
  • Define the role and responsibilities within the team.
  • Identification of the key people build succession and backup plans.
  • Coordination and management of the relationship with business teams
  • Build a strong trust relationship with business
  • Ensure the stability of the provided services in production. Take the necessary actions to fix structural issues.
  • Budget Management and follow-up, in link with the Management Office
  • Small/medium project management: define suitable project organization, communication, functional and technical architecture proposal.
  • Ensure that the applications are developed in the adapted technology.
  • Coordinate with other Power IS teams to precise technical interfaces when it comes to steering.
  • Ensure that development methodology is state-of-the-art
  • Liaise with Gems IS transversal teams (Architecture, Digital accelerator, Infrastructure, Security) to align to Gems IS standards, or participate to their evolution if need be.

The development approach is agile and is focused on the value brought to business, in short, medium and long term.

Context :

Common application Development & B2E is a transversal team within GEMS IS with the purpose of addressing all IT needs of every team or expertise center that does not have a dedicated development team.

WHAT WILL BE YOUR ROLE

 

Organization

As part of the Finance and Account Team, you will report to the Head of Accounting and Back Office.   You will collaborate to the fulfillment of the missions of the department and may be involved in projects spanning multiple groups across commercial functions and staff.

 

Role

  • Responsible for the day to day accounting functions of commodity trading clients
  • Take charge of the month-end and year-end closing process and reporting
  • Prepare consolidated financials, assist with audit matters and ensure controls are in place.

 

Main activities

  • Reconciliation between accounting and trading P&L
  • Handle full set of accounts (AR, AP, bank reconciliations, journal and general functions)
  • Prepare the Company’s financial reports and monthly balance sheet reconciliations
  • Manage inter-company transactions and reconciliations
  • Consolidation Reporting with HQ
  • Quarterly GST-Filing
  • Liaise with external auditors, tax agents and professional advisors on related matters.

  • Strong knowledge in Singapore Financial Reporting Standards, taxation, hedging, transfer pricing and mark-to-market (MTM) accounting

 

Technical skills

Context:

The Expertise Center (EC) Quantitative Research and Modeling (QRM) within GEMS is a team of 30 quantitative analysts. Its mission is to provide advanced quantitative expertise to all Business Platforms (BP) of GEMS.

The quantitative developer would be part of the “Gas & Oil” quant team (approx. 10 people) but fully dedicated to Market Access Business Platform, and more specifically to Market Making Option Desk.

 

Role:

The quantitative developer should design and provide robust and performant quantitative tools that have a concrete impact on business.

Context:

The GEMS APAC team is based in Singapore and offers trading services to both internal and external clients in the APAC region. We specialize in providing optimization, hedging, market operations, and analytics services to support our clients.

Role:

As a KYC Analyst, you will report to Head of KYC APAC for BP APAC. You will collaborate to the fulfillment of the missions of the department and may be involved in projects spanning multiple groups across commercial functions and staff.

 

The main responsibilities are:

  • Perform due diligence (of all risk level) on new counterparties, request KYC information, review and verify received documents, enter information into KYC systems, and make an analytical assessment of counterparty risk.
  • Review KYC clearance of existing counterparties, both on a regular review schedule and triggered by emergent events.
  • Perform bad press screening & monitoring, PEP identification, adverse news screening, and present KYC files to management .
  • Escalate and present high risk clients to senior management, Compliance, CSR, and group Sanctions Team.
  • Monitor and update internal databases for statistical reporting

 

Hard skills:

  • Experience with AML monitoring and screening tools is required.  World Check, Transparint, Lexis Nexis preferred
  • Strong research and analytical skills with good report writing skills required

The RES/BESS Trading desk is managing risk from renewable and BESS assets in 5 countries: Germany, Belgium, Netherlands, France and we are now expanding to Poland.

 

At RES/BESS Trading, we currently oversee a substantial wind and solar portfolio, generating 12 terawatt-hours across Belgium, the Netherlands, Germany, and France, encompassing both power and guarantees of origin. As part of our strategic growth, we are now actively seeking to extend our presence into the dynamic market of Poland.

In this exciting phase of expansion, we are looking to welcome one new trader to spearhead our activities in Poland. The chosen candidate will be based in Brussels, positioning themselves at the forefront of our strategic initiatives. This is a remarkable opportunity to be a key player in the development of a thriving renewables market and contribute to the success of our global enterprise.

 

Role:

 

As Renewables Trader in the RES Trading team we expect you to:

  • be able to perform pricing, develop/improve models and adapt hedging strategies for the Polish renewables market
  • assist in developing and monitoring performance measures  which will be instrumental to the expansion of our portfolio (cooperating with pricing, origination),
  • be Pnl driven, and respectful of your risk mandate,
  • be an excellent team player, within your own team and across others (Short term trading, pricing, origination, structuring, quants, IS, GMA…),
  • show a continuous drive to uncover profitable trading & hedging strategies ,
  • manage short term trading strategies across CWE markets (Day Ahead, Intraday, Curtailments),
  • assist in developing flexibility solutions to manage the intermittency of the portfolio in a cost-effective manner.

Hard skills:

  • Analytical and quantitative skills, combined with a hands-on approach,
  • Good knowledge of the Polish renewables power market,
  • Good knowledge of office tools as Excel as well as interest,
  • Strong understanding of information management tool and trading systems,
  • The capability and/or interest in code languages (Python etc),
  • A good understanding of accounting mechanisms (both industrial and trading), of market finance (hedging, derivatives, etc), of the power business and associated trading strategies are required,
  • The use of trading transaction systems will also be required.

Soft skills:

  • Assertive, inquisitive and stress resistant,
  • You also have a high level of integrity,
  • Well organized and pro-active,
  • Able to perform during specific reporting cycles with tight deadlines,
  • You are eager to learn, tenacious, with a strong business drive,
  • A real team player able to transfer your knowledge, and able to coordinate the inputs/actions of various units.

Education and professional background:

You have at least 2 years experiences in managing a renewables portfolio.

Languages:

You are fluent in Polish and English.

Other languages are a plus.
