Context:

Power IS covers the IS landscape for all Power short term activities within Gems, ie business activities handled from 1 week before delivery to physical delivery. This encompasses the generation of optimal production plans for the physical assets under Gems responsibility, trading on short term markets to sell the energy produced, physical steering of the assets, and communication with Power grid operators (TSOs) and regulators for nomination and transparency processes.

Power IS teams (~100p between Paris and Brussels) are responsible for the maintenance and evolution of the IS systems needed by business to support these activities.

The newly created team Industrial connectivity is aligned to BP Trading power and BP Spaas for their short term activities, and focuses on Industrial connectivity to physical assets, enabling realtime steering of Power production assets.

Role:

The position reports to the head of Power IS and will cover the following activities:

  • build and maintain the technical services steering Engie’s owned assets with the biggest power production capacity (Thermal plants, Hydro plants, Offshore wind parks) – Scada technology
  • build and maintain the technical services steering the Demand Supply Management (Kiwi technology)
  • steer the connectivity strategy, in particular when it comes to dealing with external partners for assets connectivity (Emsys, Krakenflex).
  • Participate to the contracts establishment with these external partners on the IS area. In run, ensure that the service is correctly delivered by these external partners IS-wise (SLA, security, …)

The scope of these services is NWE as a primary focus (BE/FR/NL/GE), with the ambition to extend to Europe in the future (UK, IT, Spain) with local resources.

Main activities and responsibilities:

  • Management of the team (10 to 20 people, permanents and contractors), in London and in Brussels
  • Define the role and responsibilities within the team.
  • Identification of the key people build succession and backup plans.
  • Coordination and management of the relationship with business teams
  • Build a strong trust relationship with business
  • Ensure the stability of the provided services in production. Take the necessary actions to fix structural issues.
  • Budget Management and follow-up, in link with the Management Office
  • Small/medium project management: define suitable project organization, communication, functional and technical architecture proposal.
  • Ensure that the applications are developed in the adapted technology.
  • Coordinate with other Power IS teams to precise technical interfaces when it comes to steering.
  • Ensure that development methodology is state-of-the-art
  • Liaise with Gems IS transversal teams (Architecture, Digital accelerator, Infrastructure, Security) to align to Gems IS standards, or participate to their evolution if need be.

The development approach is agile and is focused on the value brought to business, in short, medium and long term.

  • Over 10 years’ experience.

Languages:

  • Fluent English mandatory
  • French or Dutch

Travels:

  • The position is based in Brussels, with regular trips to Paris
  • Punctual trips to various locations in Europe (Italy, UK, Spain, …)

Laborelec's Non-Metallic Materials Team is specialized in solving non-metallic related issues encountered by nuclear, thermal and renewable power plants, and in development of non-metallic expertise for new energy solutions. Our primary task is to boost power plant reliability by analyzing and preventing damage, determining the life span of critical components and analyzing failure cases in the field. This work is complemented with long-term research and innovation projects for evolving (renewable) energy businesses and technologies.

   

 

What you’ll be doing

 

Your responsibilities as (Junior) non-metallic Expert

•       You will work on solving tangible problems and carry out longer-term projects, offering the opportunity to build up practical experience in the field and to enhance technical knowledge in one or more areas;

•       You will essentially work for nuclear, thermal and renewable power plants;

•       You will work on non-metallic materials such as polymers, elastomers, composites, coatings, electrical insulating materials…;

•       You focus on failure and root cause analyses, and you will make recommendations to the customers in order to increase process quality, plant reliability and lifetime;

•       As the single point of contact for the customer, you will be in charge of defining the scope of a field intervention, coordinating the required lab analysis, interpreting results, and producing a report including recommendations for presentation to the customer;

•       You will grow in your field of expertise and beyond by continuous on-the-job learning and by training opportunities;

•       You will collaborate across Laborelec's various departments and areas of expertise, and will be in direct contact with our various customers, both nationally and internationally;

•       Alongside with your work for clients of the energy market, you will also contribute to collaborative research projects with external partners such as research institutes, universities and key ENGIE partners;

•       Depending on your preferences and your particular talents, you could progress to a top expert role, a multidisciplinary or project management oriented role, or an operational role with technical management aspects, within Laborelec or the wider ENGIE group.

Je wordt intensief begeleid doorcollega’s met tien jaar ervaring en werkt samen met senior experts.

 

Functiebeschrijving 

Je bent verantwoordelijke voor de uitvoering van zeer diverse hydrogeologische studies bij het ontwerp van bijvoorbeeld gebouwen, infrastructuur of havenbouw. Het gaat dan voornamelijk om bemalingsstudies waarbij de effecten van de tijdelijke grondwaterverlaging onderzocht worden en waarbij grondwaterverontreinigingen zoals PFAS een belangrijke rol spelen. Je staat dan ook in voor het uitwerken en implementeren van mitigerende maatregelen om de impact zo veel mogelijk te beperken. Het begeleiden van deze werkzaamheden tijdens uitvoering van een project behoort ook tot jouw takenpakket. Je stelt ook hydrogeologische studies op in functie van de ontworpen situatie waarbij bijvoorbeeld de waterhuishouding onderzocht wordt of het ramen van het ontworpen drainagedebiet. Je opereert in grootschalige projecten in samenwerking met een projectteam van experten.

 

Je werkt ook mee aan bodemonderzoeken waarbij je middels 3D grondwaterstromingsmodellen het verspreidingsgedrag van grondwaterverontreinigingen onderzoekt.

 

Het takenpakket bestaat uit:

  • Voorbereiden van de offertes en contact met de opdrachtgevers;
  • Ondersteuning bij de uitvoering van grondonderzoeken op locatie; 
  • Interpreteren van grondwatergegevens en de analyseresultaten;
  • Uitvoeren van berekeningen op basis van analytische formules of 3D grondwaterstromingsmodellen door gebruik te maken van de MODFLOW code
  • Je verwerkt alle resultaten en berekeningen in een gestructureerde nota met duidelijke conclusies;
  • Je geeft algemene en technische ondersteuning aan de projectleiders; 
  • Je blijft op de hoogte van nieuwe technieken en evoluties in je vakgebied.

 

Profiel

  • Bachelor- of masterdiploma in toegepaste wetenschappen (geologie, bio-ingenieur, biologie, chemie, milieutechniek, etc.); 
  • Ervaring is een pluspunt maar geen vereiste. Je wordt ondersteund en gesuperviseerd door een projectmanager. Je doorloopt een intensief opleidingsprogramma;

  • Gérer le projet EDF, que ce projet soit une modification matérielle ou intellectuelle.
  • Piloter et coordonner les différents acteurs de l’affaires en suivant le processus GIOP (EDF) .
  • Avoir une maitrise de son affaire afin d’être critique sur les solutions proposées (d’un point de vue planning, technique, contractuel, financier…).
  • Rédiger les livrables de l’IP et piloter les actions projet.
  • Piloter le planning de son affaire et faire remonter les informations nécessaires au planificateur..
  • Suivre et surveiller les entreprises titulaires de marchés (sous-traitants) pour EDF en phase réalisation et déploiement, d’un point de vue technique, planning, contractuel et financier .
  • Organiser et animer les réunions nécessaires au bon déroulement de l’affaire .
  • Être force de proposition quant à la meilleure stratégie à adopter pour mener à bien l’affaire (planning, coût, pérennité de la solution, REX…).
  • Gérer le projet Tractebel.

Context

The GEMS Legal & Regulation department (composed of 70+ legal counsels worldwide) is looking for a market regulation legal counsel to join a team composed of four people including a manager.

Your role will be to provide guidance to secure business activities in the day-to-day asset portfolio optimisation and trading operations in compliance with regulations and good market conduct. As part of this role, you will need to follow the evolutions in financial and energy regulations impacting GEMS trading activities, predominantly from an EU perspective.

Your role will also be to coordinate responses to regulatory investigations as well as to follow up any regulatory litigation.

As part of GEMS exciting environment, you will be able to discover both the physical and financial energy markets and fine-tune your regulatory skills in a wide variety of subject matters involving various stakeholders.

In your role, you will work closely with the business teams as well as with the other teams involved in market conduct topics, primarily the Compliance team as well as the team responsible for the surveillance of trading activities. You will be autonomous in collective projects with a very strong team sprit!

Role

You will be required to be agile to follow both significant regulatory developments as well as regulatory investigations and litigations.

 

With respect to regulatory developments, you will be required to:

  • Develop and maintain a deep understanding of market conduct, wholesale and financial market regulations impacting the GEMS activities;
  • Provide regulatory guidance to the business in respect notably to REMIT, MAR, EMIR, and MiFID;
  • Develop strategies, internal policies and solutions to facilitate market activities or regulatory compliance, and develop - together with other GEMS teams - the best practices in relation to market conduct topics, relevant financial regulations or wholesale energy market regulations;

With respect to investigations and litigations, you will be required to:

  • Lead, coordinate and structure replies to regulatory enquiries or investigations from financial and energy regulators, market exchanges, and transport system operators;
  • Lead and coordinate litigation matters;

Standards

  • Responsible for BIM standards development, implementation, and enforcement
  • Creation and maintenance of the software template files to assure standards
  • Automate routines in BIM to support standards and productivity
