Context:

The Short-Term Thermal & Hydro Optimization IS team provides and maintains the Information Systems (IS) landscape supporting all short-term power market activities within GEMS. This includes generating and nominating optimized production plans for physical assets under GEMS' responsibility, as well as facilitating trading on short-term markets to maximize the value of generated energy.

The team is responsible for ensuring the maintenance, evolution, and continuous improvement of the IS systems that support these critical activities, adapting to evolving market conditions, regulatory requirements, and business needs. The core focus is on enabling efficient and competitive trading in Day-Ahead and Intraday power markets, ensuring seamless integration between optimization models and market operations

Role:

We are looking for a skilled Python Developer to join our team, which provides Information Systems (IS) solutions for short-term (Day-Ahead and Intraday) optimization and algorithmic trading of thermal and hydro-storage assets in Western and Central Europe. The role involves modeling and full or partial automation of complex business flows related to bidding, trading, plan nomination, and reporting. The ideal candidate must possess both strong technical expertise and the ability to communicate effectively with traders and business stakeholders.

The development approach is agile and is focused on the value brought to business, in short, medium and long term.

  Key responsibilities involve:

  • Develop, maintain, enhance, and deploy Python-based backend applications, including REST APIs, scheduling workflows (Airflow), and other backend services, to support short-term energy market optimization.   
  • Maintain high coding standards and best practices for clean, modular, and well-documented code.
  • Ensure code quality, maintainability, and adaptability to evolving business requirements and regulatory changes from TSOs (Transmission System Operators).
  • Collaborate with traders, analysts, and business teams to understand requirements and translate them into efficient technical solutions.
  • Solve complex problems independently and propose optimizations or simplifications for existing workflows.
  • Active and constructive participation in Agile ceremonies, explaining current tasks and showing interest for other colleagues’ work

Hard skills:

  • Python expertise – At least 3 years of professional experience in developing applications, with Python as a preferred or primary programming language. Must be well-versed in modern, recommended best practices within the Python ecosystem.
  • Problem-solving ability – Strong analytical and debugging skills, capable of solving issues independently.
  • Software quality focus – Write clean, maintainable and scalable code, easy to change and adaptable to    changing business needs. Strong emphasis on code readability, modularity, and best coding practices.
  • Scheduling & Automation – Good working knowledge of Apache Airflow as a scheduling tool for automation. Understanding of airflow components and concepts to manage and automate workflows efficiently.
  • Data handling and processing – Experience working with structured and unstructured data, APIs, and databases (both SQL and NoSQL). Good knowledge of SQL database schema design and manipulation, ensuring efficient data storage and retrieval. Working knowledge of Object-Relational Mapping (ORM) tools ( preferably SQLAlchemy) for managing database interactions in Python applications
  • Business process modeling – Ability to analyze, design, and implement complex business logic related to   energy market optimization with a structured and maintainable approach.
  • Version control and CI/CD – Proficiency in Git and experience with containerized and cloud-based solutions (preferably Azure or AWS). Solid working knowledge of continuous integration and deployment (CI/CD) workflows.

Contexte:

Vous intégrerez l’équipe de recherche et de modélisation quantitative (QRM) qui s’occupe de valoriser et modéliser les risques des produits financiers présents dans le portefeuille de GEMS. Ces produits peuvent être des produits financiers ou physiques comme des actifs de production d’ENGIE. L’équipe QRM est divisée en plusieurs sous équipes dont une spécialisée sur le marché de l’électricité (QRM Power). Elle est constituée d’environ une douzaine de personnes qui travaillent quotidiennement avec les traders, structurers, vendeurs et IT.

 

Elle fournit différentes librairies écrites en Python ou C# qui sont utilisées pour

  • Créer des prototypes utilisés pour l’analyse des positions, pour le pricing de nouveaux deals et pour le monitoring du marché.
  • Calculer le PnL et analyser les risques des portefeuilles d’Engie grâce à des modèles stochastiques implémentés dans ces librairies.

 

L’équipe d’analystes offre aussi une capacité d’analyse technique pour aider le Trading à mieux appréhender les problèmes divers qu’il peut rencontrer dans son activité quotidienne.

 

Role:

Au sein de l’équipe QRM Power vous serez chargé :

  • interagir régulièrement avec les traders pour mieux comprendre leurs besoins business et leur fournir un support quantitatif adapté dans le cadre de leurs activités quotidiennes, définir leurs besoins en termes de modèles et les traduire en développements concrets.
  • interagir avec les autres Quants pour échanger sur les modèles, avec pour but de faire émerger de nouvelles idées et tirer parti du partage de connaissances avec les pairs.
  • développer dans la librairie de pricing officielle (en C# et python) en suivant les règles générales et normes de codage, afin de produire un code de qualité.
  • développer des outils de pricing « ad hoc » et des prototypes utilisés par le Front Office, en s’appuyant dans la mesure du possible sur la librairie de pricing.
  • collaborer avec d’autres Quants et équipes de GEMS (IS, Risk Methodo, …).

Plus particulièrement vous serez amené à travailler sur deux sujets :

  • Travailler sur le modele en cours de développement qui est un modèle HJM avec une vol stochastique :
    • Calculer les grecques par différentiation automatique en utilisant tensorflow ou jax
    • Implémenter un Monte Carlo pour le modele HJM vol sto avec differentes methoses d’optimisation et de reduction de variance.
    • Ajouter à la version deterministe un markov fonctional adapter au HJM
    • Tester le P&L explain des différents modeles HJM
  • Continuer les travaux sur un modele generatif pour déduire des données historiques une nappe de volatilite
  • Travailler sur un modele de machine learning: a generative model for arbitrage-free implied volatility surfaces écrit par Milena Vuletić et Rama Cont

 

Début de la mission : septembre 2025 pour une durée minimale de 12 mois.

 

Compétences techniques:

  • Connaissances approfondies en probabilités, calcul stochastique et analyse numérique.
  • bonnes connaissances en finance quantitative et théorie des options seraient un vrai plus.
  • Bonnes compétences en programmation orientée objet (C#, Python) pour développer des prototypes et des modèles de façon autonome.

What You Can Expect

As a Software Developer, you will collaborate with a dynamic software development team to design and build web and cloud-based applications using the Microsoft .NET framework, the Azure platform, and/or Oracle PL/SQL. In this role, you will report to the Director of Solution Delivery, contributing to the team’s transformation by implementing redesigned systems and processes powered by the latest digital technologies.  

 

What You’ll Bring

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, MIS, or a related field, with a minimum of five (5) years of professional experience working with C# and NET frameworks or Oracle PL/SQL. In lieu of a four-year degree, you bring a minimum of seven (7) years’ experience in software development, during which you have gained a strong understanding of the field and demonstrated the ability to design and develop web and cloud-based applications
  • Experienced with Microsoft SQL Server, including database performance tuning, and have a strong understanding of Azure services such as Azure App Services, Azure SQL, and Azure Storage
  • Expertise in ETL tools and processes, with proven experience in data modeling, data warehousing, and writing complex PL/SQL scripts for data manipulation, validation, and management
  • Proficient in writing clean, maintainable, and efficient code, with the ability to troubleshoot and debug applications effectively
  • Experience with Git or other version control systems and follow best practices for version control and collaboration
  • Perform code reviews based on established standards and actively contribute to refining those standards
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with product owners, architects, and system owners in testing and deploying new features

What You Can Expect

As a Sales Representative II with ENGIE North America, your primary objective is to oversee ENGIE channel partner relationships and actively seek out and secure Commercial and Industrial (C&I) customers for ENGIE retail business in the New York (NYISO) & New England (NEPOOL) ISO regions to ensure a robust pipeline of opportunities.

  • Develop and Close Sales Opportunities while leveraging market knowledge and networking skills to build a robust sales pipeline and book of business within New York and New England retail sales territories through collaboration with channel partners
  • Assess and Qualify Customer Needs by gathering consumption data, account information, and creditworthiness details to provide tailored pricing proposals and evaluate customers' financial viability in line with Credit Guidelines
  • Articulate and Align Product Offerings: Master ENGIE's product offerings and clearly communicate how proposals meet or exceed customer requirements, ensuring alignment with their specific load patterns and business needs
  • Negotiate and Finalize Agreements: Use negotiation skills, margin guidance, and legal support to structure transaction terms and conditions, securing agreements that maximize revenue and customer satisfaction
  • Propose Competitive Offers: Present electricity supply and renewable product solutions to customers and brokers, ensuring proposals are evaluated on a like-to-like basis to enhance deal success rates
  • Collaborate for Strategic Success: Partner with Key Account Team members on significant transactions, utilizing regional and CRM expertise to improve closing rates and ensure seamless customer service delivery

 

What You’ll Bring

  • You hold a Bachelor’s degree in Business or a closely related discipline; in lieu of the educational requirement, we will accept a minimum of five (5) years of relevant industry experience where you gain experience in retail energy sales or developing and implementing effective sales strategies to meet or exceed sales targets
  • You have persuasive communication, effective negotiation skills, and interaction with executive-level decision-makers
  • You are a self-driven individual capable of quickly learning new products, processes, and systems
  • Ability Manage multiple assignments concurrently on a timely basis with a high degree of accuracy and professionalism

 

Additional Details

  • This role is eligible for our hybrid work policy, consisting of three (3) days in office and two (2) days working remotely
  • Must be available to travel domestically up to 15% of the time and with the need for some overnight trips
  • Must possess a valid U.S. driver’s license/clean driving record for travel and car rentals
  • Must be willing and able to comply with all ENGIE ethics and safety policies

 

Compensation

Salary Range: $76,750 – $127,875 USD annually

 

This represents the average expected pay range for a qualified candidate.

Role:

En tant qu'analyste en stratégie et décarbonisation vous vous attaquerez à des questions complexes liées à la stratégie, à la transformation durable de GEMS et à la décarbonisation. We have an exciting opportunity for a Hedging/Commercial Analyst to join the Local Portfolio Management Team based in Leeds, UK. As a Hedging/Commercial Analyst, you will be a key contributor to the portfolio management of ENGIE’s Renewable Energy portfolio of UK Businesses and Generation Assets.

What you’ll do

  • Quoting, transacting and confirming Power and Gas ‘over the counter’ trades with clients and ensuring client trades are sourced according to the hedging strategy.
  • Working with internal teams to ensure client trades and market index data is correct and updated within the billing system to ensure customers are billed accurately and on time.
  • Supporting the team by completing a number of operation tasks including but not limited to:
  • Daily trade and position checking to ensure ENGIE’s commodity risk exposures are correctly represented.
  • Production and monitoring of Daily Forward Price Curves used as part of the quoting process
  • Production of daily position summary as part of handover to 24 hour trading team
  • Working with account managers to respond to client queries and ensure all contractual documentation is provided at signature.
  • Evaluating sellback and MtM costs of fixed and flexible contracts.
  • The role may also include working on ad hoc analysis including but not limited to commodity price data, internal KPI monitoring and commodity risk premia.

 

What you’ll need

  • Strong communication skills to work with a range of internal stakeholders and external clients
  • Good numeracy skills to price customer price fix requests promptly
  • An eye for detail and ability to work precisely to complete processes to a high standard of accuracy
  • An interest in UK Renewable Energy, Trading and Risk Management
  • Degree level (or equivalent) in a relevant discipline, preferable.

We are seeking a dedicated Recoveries Manager to oversee the management of overdue debt through the disconnections process and both internal and external legal processes.  This is a hybrid role to be based in our Leeds office. On offer is a competitive salary and benefits package.

 

Job Purpose

The individual will be responsible for managing overdue debt through the disconnections process and both internal and external legal processes. This role will oversee the Recoveries function for both Industrial & Commercial (I&C) and Small and Medium Enterprises (SME) within the Energy Supply Division.

 

The successful candidate will provide direction, management, and continuous development for the Recoveries team, driving improvements in departmental efficiency and process development while minimising the cost to serve.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee the internal Recoveries team, ensuring efficient collection of outstanding debts, including management of the Warrant, Debt Collection Agency (DCA), and Legal processes and relationships.
  • Identify and enhance existing recovery strategies, ensuring alignment with business and industry standards, and implement new procedures where deficiencies are identified to reduce costs.
  • Manage relationships with external recovery agencies.
  • Liaise with the internal legal team and external solicitors regarding claims and queries.
  • Support internal stakeholders with queries and escalations requiring Recoveries input.
  • Provide timely reports on recovery activities, debt, and cash collections.
  • Assist and liaise with customers and their representatives to expedite the claim process and recover outstanding debts or achieve settlements where appropriate.
  • Review settlements, payment plans, and write-offs in a timely manner, authorising actions within set delegations.
  • Maintain the Legal tracker and manage the team's tickets (queries) within the delegations of authority.
  • Control and manage expenditure related to external legal and disconnection processes.
  • Validate and sign off Disconnection and External Legal Costs invoices in line with Delegations of Authority (DLAs).
  • Conduct monthly one-on-one meetings with direct reports, setting objectives and completing performance reviews.
  • Implement and drive Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) at both team and individual levels, monitoring performance.
  • Drive the training and development of the Recoveries team.
  • Attend monthly team meetings and present to the wider Collections Team to ensure awareness of the Recoveries team processes and initiatives.
  • Oversee the insolvency process, including contacting insolvency practitioners and informing the business of new insolvencies.
  • Manage the write-off process related to insolvencies and dissolutions.
  • Oversee the management of the full Detrimental Information process.

 

Knowledge and Skills:

  • Working knowledge of gas and electricity industry processes across SME and I&C.
  • Outstanding communication skills with the ability to operate at all stakeholder levels.
  • Understanding of the customer lifecycle and interdependencies between Collections, Recoveries, and interfacing departments.
  • Experience in people management.
  • Proven ability to organize and produce accurate work to tight deadlines.
  • Commercial approach to Recoveries.
  • Highly numerate with an awareness of cost recovery.
  • Strong verbal reasoning skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office.
