Context:

For GEMS (Global Energy Management and Sales) in Brussels, we are currently looking for an IT Team Lead for the Sales & Customers team! The GEMS teams negotiate ENGIE natural gas supply contracts, optimize the assets (power plants) and the energy purchase and sales contracts, and provide customers with natural gas and electricity, as well as energy price risk management services.

 

Role:

You manage all the IS activities related to the B2B Belgium - Sales & Customers domain. This covers a team of approximately 15 people, focusing mainly our customer facing applications, like our public website, our customer area, Api’s, Salesforce, Marketing Cloud ,... Next to that, the team also manages technical integration components.

 

Your responsibilities include

  • Oversight and follow-up of the applicative and technological roadmap
  • Management of service contracts, commercial and contractual relations with suppliers
  • Ensuring the IT service level and user support
  • Supervision of IT projects

 

 

Hard skills:

    • Technical competences:
      • Proficiency in architecture principles, cloud (azure / aws), api’s, salesforce …
      • Co-construction and follow-up of the applicative and technological roadmap
      • Ensure and Control correct implementation of Quality, security and performance requirements in collaboration with related GEMS IS teams

 

    • Delivery and Project Management:
      • you are mastering of agile methodologies and have good capacity and field experience in applicative architecture.
      • Steering and follow-up of all project within his domain on all axes (Scope Budget, quality and timing)
      • Ensure the regular delivery of consistent IS software increments on consisting in bug fixes, enhancement on existing functions or new functionalities and large projects.

 

    • Reporting:
      • Budget monitoring and management.
      • Setup and follow-up of quality KPI
      • Responsible of the operational production continuity of used systems and applications.

 

    • Team Management:
      • Team operational management (internal + external consultants), team skills management and staffing, people development for Internal resources.
      • Demand management: put in place a team backlog, prioritized according to client needs, manage relationship with other IT teams and external clients (business and support functions).
      • Process management: define, adapt and enforce team organization and methodology (including development best practices and ALM methodology)

Travels:

Occasional travel (few times a year) to other Paris or other B2B countries.

Context:

Within GEMS, the Risk Expertise Center’s purpose is to, on one hand, advise and help the Business Platforms in optimizing their activities making sure it respects all the rules and limits, and on the other hand, to manage, monitor and control the risks that GEMS is facing globally in its commercial and energy management activities.

In the context of its re-organization, the EC Risk has created new Transversal Risk functions with the general objectives to provide a sound global risk framework through the design of the global risk mandates and policies, and to harmonize and spread best practices across all GEMS local development areas.

Role:

As Transversal Risk Methodology Expert, you will report to the Transversal CRO and will be in charge of:

 

  • Model validation: you are accountable for pricing model validations across all entities outside of EGM and you will check compliance with MtM rules when migrating a book from S-P to MtM perimeter;
  • Cartography: you are responsible and accountable for the cartography of authorized products on MtM perimeter outside of EGM, and you maintain a clear list of validated metrics for each scope;
  • Model user support for market /credit / liquidity risk metrics outside of EGM;
  • New Business process outside of EGM : you ensure transversality of the market and credit risk framework across GEMS, in particular for countries;
  • Liquidity risk: you coordinate the EGM Risk Methodology Core Team work as designer of the Liquidity Risk metrics for the scope outside of EGM;

Au croisement du centre d’expertise Global Market Analysis (GMA) et des business platforms Gas Supply & Trading (GST) et GNL, notre équipe se compose d’analystes du marché du gaz (Europe et GNL) et de data scientists. En interaction constante avec nos collègues météorologues et analystes des marchés de l’électricité, nous travaillons en salle de marché et aidons les traders à optimiser la valeur des actifs du groupe tout en assurant que nos clients soient livrés en toutes circonstances.

 

A travers le gaz, nous contribuons également à la stabilité du système électrique et à garantir la sécurité d’approvisionnement énergétique dans son ensemble. Aujourd’hui majoritairement fossile, le gaz est amené à devenir de plus en plus décarboné et participer de manière essentielle à la transition énergétique.

 

Nous combinons notre expertise sur les fondamentaux des marchés (équilibres offre/demande) avec des méthodes quantitatives basées sur 3 approches : la modélisation statistique, le machine learning et l’optimisation. Nous recherchons un(e) stagiaire pour contribuer à l’amélioration de nos modèles d’aide à la décision.

 

En particulier, nous souhaitons mettre en place de nouvelles méthodes de prévision des approvisionnements européens en intégrant une représentation statistique des maintenances et aléas de production, afin de mieux quantifier les risques en volume et en prix qui en découlent. Rôle :

 

  • Modéliser le risque statistique de survenance et de dérive des maintenances/fortuits affectant les infrastructures gazières européennes et GNL ;
  • Contribuer aux modèles de forecasting sur le marché GNL ;
  • Tester et intégrer dans les outils d’analyse fondamentale existants ;
  • Proposer des améliorations de modélisation ;
  • Communiquer les impacts à la communauté de traders et d’analystes.

 

Compétences techniques :

 

  • Très bonne maîtrise de Python, pandas et numpy ;
  • Solides connaissances en probabilités et statistiques (chaînes de Markov, distributions, probabilités conditionnelles, …) ;
  • Notions de modélisation de séries temporelles appréciées ;
  • Notions de base sur Git ;
  • Notions en SQL et services AWS appréciées.

As an intern in Houston, you will help improve grid modeling, analysis, and visualization of renewable generators for the purpose of power price forecasting by researching data using relevant databases and statistical tools.

  • Collaborate with IT personnel to maintain and improve trade tools

What You Can Expect

Bring tax expertise to the retail energy business unit by researching and applying tax law and regulation in a variety of business situations. Employ business communication skills and judgment to resolve tax exemption discrepancies and answer customer inquiries. Manage the accurate and timely review and application of customer tax exemption documentation, exemption-related refunds, and tax reporting.

 

  • Perform transaction tax research concerning the taxability of electricity usage for customers located in multiple jurisdictions and validate exemptions claimed.
  • Review and approve submitted Commercial and Industrial customer tax exemption documents – ensure documents are stored in compliance with data retention policies and laws.
  • Calculate and apply tax exemption adjustments and submit for approval, as required and according to company Delegation of Authority policies.
  • Maintain clear, thorough documentation with supporting tax research for all tax adjustments and complete assignments timely.  
  • Provide tax guidance to field offices, Business Control, and third-party vendors regarding the applicability of state and local sales & use tax rules to specific fact patterns and work with them to resolve transaction tax issues.
  • Assist with any required reconciliation of tax general ledger accounts.

What You Can Expect

As a Senior Credit Manager (Senior Advisor), you will lead traditional wholesale counterparty credit functions for renewable power products, gas and Renewable Energy Certificates (RECs). Your responsibilities include annual credit reviews, contract negotiations, deal approval and negotiation of credit terms for non-standard transactions.

 

  • Conduct ongoing monitoring for a portfolio of counterparties, tracking both individual counterparties and broader industry and market conditions
  • Assess credit risk associated with Power Purchase Agreements (PPAs) and recommend risk mitigation measures
  • Construct creative credit solutions for structured transactions incorporating a quantitative and qualitative analysis
  • Evaluate and challenge computations of potential future credit exposure as prepared by the risk team
  • Collaborate with legal, commercial and risk teams to negotiate master agreements related to bi-lateral trading and structured transactions, including Power Purchase Agreements (PPAs)
  • Prepare slides for quarterly credit committee and prepare and validate month-end credit reports used for management communication and financial reporting
  • Manage assigned team member(s) and develop both personal and company growth
  • Carry out other duties as assigned

 

 

What You’ll Bring

  • Bachelor’s degree in which you completed courses in Accounting, Finance or other disciplines
  • 10 years’ professional experience required, with at least 7 years in Wholesale Energy Credit Risk Management 
  • Knowledge of Excel and other MS Office suite software
  • Knowledge of CapIQ credit scoring tool or similar
  • Familiarity with CubeLogic or similar credit monitoring system
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written

GEMS APAC activities are managed out of Singapore. The Business Platform’s purpose is to perform and develop GEMS trading activities in the APAC &  Middle east region around 2 main pillars: Client and Asset management.

 

The APAC Green Solutions team plays a critical role in originating, negotiating, and securing contracts to drive value and manage revenue streams for ENGIE renewables portfolio and developing strategies to optimize the APAC generation portfolio.

 

As the PPA Structurer in APAC region, your scope will include driving the marketing efforts, sourcing, and securing of PPA customers and managing relationships with potential energy buyers. The candidate will lead the negotiation, execution, and management of Power Purchase Agreements (PPAs) and offtake contracts, ensuring the financial viability of projects through successful offtake agreements.

 

 

Role:

 

Green Solutions Originator & PPA Structurer Key Responsibilities :

  • Conduct market analysis to identify trends, potential buyers and opportunities for renewable energy, environmental products, biomass and low carbon fuel consumption.
  • Develop and implement commercial strategies for securing long-term offtake. agreements, ensuring projects’ profitability and financial sustainability.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with corporate buyers and power market related stakeholders.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for PPA negotiations and management, ensuring open communication and collaboration with all parties.
  • Identify and source prospective upstream and downstream PPA customers, green solutions corporate buyers, building a robust pipeline of interested parties.
  • Develop customized proposals and marketing materials to attract and secure long-term PPA customers.
  • Lead the negotiation and execution of PPAs and other offtake agreements with corporate buyers & industry partners.
  • Ensure agreement terms are commercially competitive and will optimize projects’ revenue potential.
  • Collaborate with legal, risk, credit, financial, and technical teams to draft and review contracts, ensuring compliance with regulations and contractual obligations.
  • Identify and manage commercial risks associated with PPAs and offtake agreements, including market fluctuations, regulatory changes, and counterparty risks.
  • Ensure compliance with local and international energy market regulations and reporting requirements.
  • Maintain and develop good working relationships and ensure effective communications with internal stakeholders.
  • Recognise the importance of customer service, providing responsive solutions to our clients’ needs.
  • Be able to produce concise and persuasive reports and presentations.
