What You Can Expect
As an intern in Houston, you will help improve grid modeling, analysis, and visualization of renewable generators for the purpose of power price forecasting by researching data using relevant databases and statistical tools.
- Provide analytical support in business functions, such as analyzing the drivers of congestion market outcomes based on macro-fundamentals (supply, demand, renewables) and micro-fundamentals (specific transmission and generation outage impacts, bids, facility limits)
- Build dashboard and visualization Structured Query Language (SQL) queries on large datasets
- Develop and maintain Excel tools using Visual Basic for Applications (VBA), macros and advanced formula
- Develop and maintain adhoc tools using python and large datasets
- Provide grid modeling support by identifying model gaps and recommending appropriate solutions
- Participate in Independent System Operator (ISO) meetings as appropriate and assess commercial impacts
- Collaborate with IT personnel to maintain and improve trade tools
What You’ll Bring
- Junior/Senior Undergraduate/Masters/PhD in which you have completed courses in Engineering/Business/Finance/STEM
- Academic project or internship experience in data analytics and visualization using advanced tools such as Python, Tableau, R, Excel
- Demonstrated strong analytical skills in one or more of the listed job functions
- Proficient in Tableau and Python/R
- Proficient in data management (data wrangling, cleansing, and querying)
- Power markets domain knowledge
- Knowledge of statistical techniques
Additional Details
- The internship is for Spring 2025 semester and it starts in January, 2025 and ends by end of May, 2025.
- This role is eligible for our hybrid work policy
- Must be willing and able to comply with all ENGIE ethics and safety policies
Compensation
Salary Range: $21.00-$34.00 USD, hourly
This represents the average expected pay range for a qualified candidate.
Actual offered salary may depend on geography, experience, industry knowledge, education, internal pay alignment, or other bona fide factors.
