What You Can Expect

The Project Development Senior Advisor will manage and grow a regional portfolio of pre-construction utility-scale renewable energy projects within ENGIE’s development pipeline in the U.S. and Canada. The Senior Advisor will collaborate with a cross-functional team to ensure projects advance on the appropriate schedules and within allocated budgets to support origination, financing, and construction, to ultimately fulfill the company's renewable energy aspirations and growth strategy within North America. The Senior Advisor will help develop regional strategy, including identifying markets of interest, guiding greenfield prospecting efforts, and pursuing project acquisition opportunities.

 

Every day you will support regional development strategy for utility-scale wind, solar, and storage projects. Manage development activities of utility-scale wind, solar and storage projects from feasibility to the start of construction and evaluate viability of early stage and acquisition projects. Engage with staff to coordinate energy assessment, environmental, permitting, transmission interconnection, land acquisition, and design activities.

 

  • Support energy offtake, financing, and project M&A discussions, including due diligence activities
  • Ensure projects are progressing on schedule and within budget
  • Obtain local project permits and tax agreements
  • Select, manage, and direct third party consultants and review their reports
  • Engage with landowners and stakeholders to provide information throughout the development process
  • Review project pro forma financial models
  • Conduct site visits to define site characteristics and develop relationships with local stakeholders
  • Remain abreast of renewable energy opportunities in the United States and the national industry trends impacting the future of wind and renewable development opportunities and their competitiveness as they relate to customers
  • Represent ENGIE in industry advocacy groups and at national wind and renewable energy events as speaker, panelist, and wind energy leader

 

 

What You’ll Bring

  • Bachelor’s degree in which you have completed courses in Engineering, Business Administration, Environmental, or Economics

  • Minimum 10 years of project development experience in renewable energy utility-scale projects (Wind/Solar/Storage) with the ability to navigate permitting processes and community involvement
  • Proven record of accomplishment in renewable energy development, including experience taking projects through financing
  • Demonstrated ability to identify and resolve potential project flaws and to prioritize critical path tasks
  • Track record of successfully working with public officials to obtain development permits, tax abatements, and corresponding documents
  • Working knowledge of technical development disciplines, including interconnection, resource assessment, turbine operation, and GIS
  • General understanding of market trends and resulting impacts on project development
  • Superior verbal and written communication skills with a high level of attention to detail, ability to present to a wide range of audiences, including landowners, potential off-takers, government officials, and corporate leaders
  • Results-oriented leader with the ability to work independently within a large matrixed organization while effectively interfacing with the various cross-functional employee groups

Additional Details

  • This role is eligible for our hybrid work policy

Compensation

Salary Range: $146,300 – $224,135 USD annually

 

This represents the average expected pay range for a qualified candidate.

As the Regional Operations Manager, for this the West Texas region you bear the responsibility for overseeing total employment, training, schedules, safety, and the day-to-day financial operations of three (3) Solar project sites. In your capacity as the head of safety, it is imperative to ensure that all permits and reports are current, valid, and in compliance with both federal and state regulatory agencies. You will also be responsible for managing and reporting on Profit and Loss responsibility for regional performance.

 

Your managerial role extends to leading a team comprising eleven (11) Solar Technicians and Groundskeepers.  Utilizing systems like Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA), you will monitor daily asset performance and regulatory compliance to meet standards set by organizations such as the National Electrical Reliability Council (NERC). Your responsibilities involve utilizing various computer-based systems, ensuring the timely update and maintenance of all documentation. Collaboration with cross-functional management may be necessary to provide reports on the status, progress, and development of various projects on-sites.

 

  • You will need to provide technical and management support for the design and operations of the solar sites
  • Must be willing to attain substation technician certification within 12 months of hire date
  • Carries out all responsibilities under environmental legislation to prevent environmental spills
  • Cooperates with internal and third parties regarding safety and regulatory compliance and responds to their recommendations in a timely manner
  • Due to the amount of travel needed for outages, emergencies, and site management you will be required to reside within 50 miles of an ENGIE site within the region (Anson, Gail, Alpine), TX.

Your daily responsibilities begin with accessing tasks via SCADA, Maximo, or various SAP software systems and repairing, troubleshooting, and fulfilling technical repair work orders for solar panels. You will manage documentation, update parts inventory, and as well as submit on-site status reports, including daily, weekly, monthly, and quarterly reports, and initiate work orders for equipment repairs.

 

  • Coordination of high voltage switching activities with local utilities and independent system operators (ISO), which includes tasks like substation operations, equipment lockouts and grounding
  • Adhere to safety protocols such as conducting Site-Specific Orientations, Job Safety Analysis (JSA), and safety meetings
  • While you will primarily work independently on-site, there will always be a nearby technician for safety support; the site's team comprises of a site manager, a Balance of Plant technician, and the solar technician. You will also be a part of an on-call rotation for outages and emergencies; therefore, you must reside within 50 miles of the site.

  • Minimum two (2) years diploma in a technical program where you have learned AC/ DC electrical theory, understand reading blue prints and schematics, industrial electrical equipment including breaker, disconnects, transformers, contactors

The Director of Pre-Construction is a critical role within ENGIE’s Engineering and Delivery (E&D) team, focusing on the contracting of grid-scale renewables projects, including Onshore Wind, Solar, and Battery Energy Storage Solution (BESS).

 

ENGIE seeks a highly experienced and motivated Director with passion for renewable energy to join the E&D division of the team.  The Director of Pre-Construction will report to the Head of Strategic Supply and Optimization whilst also working closely with multiple parts of the overall E&D division and wider ENGIE business.

 

The position will have primary focus on both the preparation and management of contract bidding, and associated pre-construction phase activities, while also directing Contract negotiations and making recommendation to the ENGIE Leadership team for contract awards. Following successful placement of contracts, the Director of Preconstruction will take accountability for the handover and effective legacy support to the Director of Delivery ensuring ultimately the delivery of safe, timely, cost effective and class leading renewable energy projects. 

 

  • Successful execution of this position requires clear and consistent coordination of multiple project stakeholders including developers, contractors, vendors, owners, and financing partners. The Director of Pre-Construction must have exceptional project management skills and possess the ability to successfully lead a project team through challenging problems.  The Director of Pre-Construction will also manage a team of six direct reports.
  • Project management services, coordination, and support for large and complex wind, solar, and storage projects during the pre-construction phase of the project
  • Liaise with project development teams to support and coordinate earlier project engagement and coordination efforts to support ease of transition into delivery phase
  • Support and provide delivery expertise and oversight around engineering design and permitting efforts
  • Direct, control and manage adequate resourcing plans to support the delivery of all preconstruction deliveries for renewable energy projects as required
  • Direct and manage request for proposal (RFP) process for engineering, procurement, and construction (EPC) services 
  • Direct and manage commercial aspects of all project related contract negotiations
  • Provide direction and coordination for pre-construction activities including site studies, surveys, preliminary engineering, and estimating
  • Support and direct efforts to resolve a range of technical / specialist issues during bid phase
  • Actively identify and manage critical path issues and risks to remove and minimize project impacts
  • Provide direction and primary inputs for project capital expenditure compilation and subsequent approval processes to secure budget for Project Delivery scope  
  • Provide critical liaison for internal stakeholders including development, engineering, interconnection, and power marketing teams with Capex input requests
  • Coordinate and manage key project stakeholders including Balance of Plant (BOP), Engineering, Procurement, and Construction (EPC) contractor
  • Support and provide critical feedback for major equipment (modules, wind turbines, batteries, and substation) procurement processes
  • Participate in the negotiation of key project contracts including Major Equipment Supply Agreements and BOP-EPC Agreement
  • Ensure project schedules and costs are managed and tracking to plan
  • Continually assess project risk and maintain project Risk Register during preconstruction phase
  • Establish and maintain effective working relationships with all parties involved in the development and approval of the project
  • Seek to be accountable for a portfolio of projects as the team grows

What You Will Bring

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, or a related science field where you have equivalent combination of technical training  
  • Minimum 10 years of project management and procurement in utility scale renewable energy and/or heavy construction experience
  • Project Management Professional Certification (PMP) or equivalent

The Partnership Management Team at ENGIE oversees multiple partnerships within our ~6GW operational fleet of Wind, Solar, and Battery Storage assets. These assets are situated in both the United States and Canada, and they operate across various Independent System Operators (ISOs), including ERCOT, SPP, PJM, and MISO. The number of partnerships will expand alongside our rapid growth.  We expect to place in service approximately 2 GW/y over the next decade with the expansion into new ISOs and new technologies.

 

The Partnership Management Senior Contracts and Reporting Analyst, located in Houston, TX, will be an integral part of the Partnership Management Team. Every day, in this role, you will support the Partnership Management Team in the maintenance of partner relationships by producing reports and other deliverables as required under the partnership agreements, organizing and retaining documents per company policy, refining processes, automating recurring tasks to promote scalability of our operations, liaising with cross-functional teams to meet partner requirements, conducting contract review and ensuring compliance.

 

  • Play a key role in timeliness and accuracy of key deliverables to our partners including yearly budget, board materials, minutes of board meetings, monthly operating reports
  • Coordinate with Partnership Management Team and other departments to respond to partner inquiries

What You Will Bring

  • Develop the Request for Proposal (RFP) packages relying on discussions and documentation from the Project Team members to provide a complete package meeting that includes the project schedule and incorporating stakeholder requirements
  • Administer the contract bidding process for contracts as bidder single point of contact using coordination meetings, site visits and issuing RFP addenda as required. Prepare bid tabulations incorporating Project Team member’s reviews to make final bidder recommendation
  • Notify the selected bidder and unsuccessful bidders providing bid feedback as appropriate. Support the negotiations with the selected bidder and release the other bidders
  • Administer and control the negotiations with the selected bidder using a documented process and good judgment to resolve Scope and Terms and Conditions differences
  • Prepare final contract, award letter and Notice to Proceed as appropriate
  • Review supplier/contract project invoicing for contract compliance

Compensation

Salary Range: $24.70– $35.48 USD hourly  

 

This represents the average expected pay range for a qualified candidate.

Actual offered salary may depend on geography, experience, industry knowledge, education, internal pay alignment, or other bona fide factors.

In addition to base pay, this position is eligible for an incentive plan.
