ENERGY PROCUREMENT ANALYST 
NATURAL GAS EXPERIENCE REQUIRED

 

SUMMARY:

The Energy Procurement Analyst is a key role in providing comprehensive conventional/renewable energy procurement and analytic services by supplying product recommendations, energy market and utility tariff analysis, pricing evaluation, and contract management to ENGIE Impact client delivery teams and clients. They are experts in assigned deregulated and renewable energy markets. This role provides these services throughout North America markets, as well as globally on an as needed basis.

 

 

PRIMARY FUNCTIONS AND ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Provide conventional/renewable energy procurement consulting and analytic services to ENGIE Impact client delivery teams including, but not limited to: RFP development, market assessment, risk management, consultative procurement recommendations, strategy development, contract negotiation, contract management, and product management.
  • Collaborate and communicate regularly with ENGIE Impact stakeholders and clients.
  • Maintain thorough knowledge and understanding of assigned regulatory markets.
  • Communicate with suppliers, utilities, local distribution companies, and public utility commissions to gather timely, accurate, and complete energy market intelligence in advancement of client strategies.
  • Maintain relationships with supplier partners through frequent communication.
  • Develop conventional/renewable energy procurement services deliverables, tools, and processes. Evaluate and support new opportunities.
  • Develop and maintain comprehensive toolsets for risk management, conventional/renewable energy product comparison, and market assessment for ENGIE Impact teams.
  • Routinely prepare and deliver conventional/renewable energy market and product updates.
  • Develop and present training to Energy Supply Management (ESM) staff on conventional/renewable energy markets and products.
  • Assist in training new employees.

Education/Certification/Knowledge: 

  • Four-year college degree, or equivalent.
  • Engineering degree a plus.

Experience:

  • Three years of relevant experience, particularly in the areas of energy procurement, energy contracting, renewable energy products, utility tariffs, finance, risk management, or quanitative analyst. 
  • Utility experience or knowledge of utility bill calculations preferred. 

Skills/Abilities: 

  • Ability to work both collaboratively within teams and independently with minimal supervision.
  • Strong verbal, written, and interpersonal skills.
  • Intermediate MS Excel, Word, and PowerPoint skill level required.
  • Ability to create macros and programming within Excel and Power BI capabilities highly desired.
  • Quality presentation development and delivery skills.
  • Skilled in analyzing and interpreting utility, tariff, and wholesale market data.
  • Must be detail oriented, flexible, adaptable, and self-motivated.
  • Ability to handle deadlines and high stress situations on a periodic basis.
  • Occasional travel to client locations may be required.

The pay range for this role is: $63,000-$96,000. 

Pay range is based on several factors and may vary in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits. Final salary and offer will be determined by the applicant’s background, experience, skills, internal equity, and alignment with geographical market data. This position is eligible for our comprehensive and competitive benefits package including medical, dental, vision, and basic life insurance. Requisitos
• Profesional Técnico o Ingeniero titulado con experiencia comprobada en diseño de proyectos de líneas de transmisión de Alta Tensión.
• Imprescindible (demostrable) el uso y utilización de los programas de cálculo y diseño de líneas eléctricas aéreas PLS-CADD. Experiencia en el uso de los otros softwares derivados PLS POLE y PLS TOWER (no excluyente).
• Experiencia en la definición técnica de los trazados de líneas de alta tensión y conocimientos básicos de conceptos de topografía asociado a proyectos de líneas de transmisión aéreas.
• Conocimiento de la normativa Chilena de diseño de líneas aéreas (RPTD, NTSyCS), en particular, en lo referente a las distancias eléctricas de seguridad, aislación, franja de seguridad, etc.
• Conocimiento de normativas internacionales generales de diseño de líneas aéreas (IEEE, IEC, etc.)
• Conocimiento y experiencia para recurrir a las fuentes de información geográfica disponibles en la WEB para extraer ortofotos, curvas de nivel, modelos de terreno, etc.
• Conocimiento y manejo avanzado de otros softwares de ayuda al diseño: AutoCAD, Globbal Mapper, ArcGis (no excluyente).
• Manejo de las aplicaciones de escritorio MS Office.
• Capacidad para desarrollar planos típicos de proyectos de líneas AT en AutoCAD (trazado en planta, perfil longitudinal con ubicación de estructuras, franja de seguridad, aislación, planos generales de obra, servidumbres, etc.).

What You’ll Bring

  • You hold a Bachelor's degree in Business Administration were you studied business principles, management, and marketing or related discipline

  • Support internal approvals process for new economic commitments and associated financing arrangements

We are looking for a Pre-Sales engineer for onsite solar PV business.

 

What You Can Expect

 

  • Developing sourcing and cost-effective strategies for the purchasing of materials and equipment used in the solar PV business;
  • Develop Pre-sales activities working closely with the Sales Department in order to implement the necessary purchasing measures to increase the results;
  • Budgeting and developing solutions associated with the installation of decentralized solar systems;
  • Own, manage, and execute all stages of RFQ activities including supplier identification & negotiation;
  • Run tenders, evaluate bids and make recommendations, based on commercial and technical factos;
  • Maintaining relationships with suppliers while continually looking for alternatives;
  • Work with the Head of Procurement in order to develop the company terms and conditions for purchasing, and assist in the development of the procurement policies and procedures;
  • Manage supplier identification and onboarding process including risk management, supplier setup, and contract management;
  • Forecast price trends and their impact on future activities;
  • Ensure compliance with delivery times and prices stipulated in the contractual phase;
  • Evaluating spending operations while seeking ways to improve and enhance the quality of products purchased and the timeliness of deliveries;
  • Conducting cost analyses and setting benchmarks for improvement.

 

 

Who We're Looking For

 

  • At least 3 years of experience in Procuring for Solar Market;
  • Pre-sales experience in developing and budgeting technical solutions;
  • Engineering license degree.
  • Strong experience in procurement of small and large volumes;
  • Commercial and financial awareness as managing budgets and keeping costs down is a key part of the role;
  • Advanced knowledge of MS Office (MS Word, Excel, and PowerPoint);
  • English proficiency (other languages are a plus);

What You Can Expect

As the Head of Commercial Strategy and Market Analytics you will support the Flexible Generation Business Unit’s (FGBU) Development team in the US by leading strategic activities to maximize the value of ENGIE’s existing pipeline of energy storage projects in development as well as develop and maintain the investment thesis/recommendations across markets.  Managing a team for ongoing energy market analysis, competitor analysis, and overall evaluation of energy storage business models across markets will be required and paramount to the long term success of the Flexible Generation business unit.  The position reports directly to the Chief Development Officer and will have high visibility with strategic decision makers at ENGIE.

 

Every day you will oversee all aspects of strategic activities, including development optimization/prioritization, market analysis, strategic partnerships, mergers and acquisitions (M&A) and business/investment case optimization. Additionally, you will lead market analysis to identify emerging trends, competitive landscapes, and investment opportunities within the energy sector. In this role you will develop and lead new business strategies for new ventures, considering market dynamics and competitive landscape.

 

  • Critical role in driving the growth and success of this Flexible Generation business (FGBU) unit by leading the strategic direction and execution for the existing Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS) pipeline
  • Develop and execute strategies to drive investment optimization and market expansion
  • Maintain strategic relationships and understanding of key industry stakeholders including offtakers, utilities, regulatory agencies, financial markets, technology suppliers, etc.
  • Work closely with trading team at ENGIE to formulate views on maximizing revenue opportunities in existing and new markets
  • Maintain detailed assessment of risk across the FGBU portfolio and understanding of market related risk across existing and new markets to help inform proactive decision making
  • Build and mentor a high-performing team by providing industry wide experience and expertise that will be able to deliver quantitative views to inform strategic direction
  • Collaboration with internal ENGIE teams, development, construction, trading, finance, operations, engineering will be critical to the success of this position

 

What You’ll Bring

  • Bachelor Degree in Business, Construction, Finance, Economics, Engineering, Environmental Science, Management, or another Analytical field
  • A minimum of fifteen (15) years’ work experience and ten (10) years of experience in the traditional energy, renewable energy or energy storage industry
  • Deep understanding of all aspects of energy project development, construction and operations including general development matters, interconnection, power marketing, technology, and financing
  • Have established or able to establish strong working relationships with utilities, Independent System Operators (ISO) and Regional Transmissions Operators (RTO), competitors, financing parties, offtakers and other industry stakeholders
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously under time constraints

As our Acquisitions Investment Financial Advisory (AIFA) Senior Analyst, you will be responsible for supporting the valuation and risk analysis of new projects, the structuring and execution of Mergers & Acquisitions (M&A), and project financing transactions. You will work a hybrid schedule from our Houston, TX office.

 

Every day you will manage interactions with internal project stakeholders and external financial partners to drive the implementation of investment and acquisition financing plans.  In this role, you will develop and maintain detailed financial models to support investment decisions from the start of the development process through the successful closing of an investment or acquisition.  Other responsibilities include:

  • Leading the financial modeling and analysis supporting investment decisions for project development and acquisition opportunities
  • Managing internal stakeholders to maintain financial model assumptions, while retaining responsibility for the accuracy and correct incorporation of relevant inputs to such models
  • Presenting investment opportunities to ENGIE leadership, defend project economics and risks in review committees, and prepare the financial analysis required for Investment Committee
  • Providing valuation and structure guidance throughout the business development process, advise on commercial agreements, risk allocation, bankability of contracts, financing alternatives, and expected investment returns
  • Identifying and articulating main project economic and financial risks, define appropriate contingencies, develop creative financing strategies, and negotiate the key financial terms of the transaction documents
  • Coaching and mentoring junior members of the team

 

 

What You’ll Bring

  • Bachelor’s degree in one of the following fields: Finance, Business, Economics, Accounting, Engineering, Math, or a STEM-focused degree program where you have learned project management, project financing, investments, equity, mergers, acquisitions, power, energy, or renewable market skills
  • Minimum of five (5) years of experience conducting M&A and project finance transactions at an investment bank, private equity fund, or strategic energy company
  • Expertise in analyzing data and utilizing detailed financial models, including Excel-based tools
