Regional Operations Director, US Renewable Generation

What You Can Expect

As the Regional Operations Director, US Renewable Generation you will provide management direction to ENGIE North America (ENGIE NA) renewable generation projects. In this role, you will be responsible for management and oversight of assets, including responsibility to ensure safety, superior operational performance, profitability, contract compliance, decision making and problem solving, regulatory compliance, legal interface, guidance and direction to Regional and Site Managers, and monitoring plant activities. You will actively promote a safety-minded working environment and safety programs consistent with the ENGIE NA Health and Safety Principle and ENGIE’s global governance initiatives. On a daily basis you will set objectives for the team in alignment with ENGIE NA strategic plan and maintains a record of their performance through regular evaluations and make recommendations for merit increases and incentive pay. Every day you will monitor the day-to-day operation, maintenance, fiscal, and administrative functions of each operating facility.

 

The Regional Operations Director will optimize plant technical performance through enhancements, upgrades and modifications to physical site equipment. You are expected to improve plant financial performance through modifications to contracts, reflecting changes in market design or operating philosophy as well as apply emerging trends to add value to existing and future ENGIE NA projects. You are responsible for the oversight and direction of plant compliance with company policies and procedures, governmental regulations, Power Purchase contract compliance, operations and maintenance agreements, annual operating plans, and good engineering practices at each facility.

 

  • Establish project objectives, policies, procedures, and performance standards within boundaries of company policy and procedures
  • Supporting the VP Field Operations in the hiring, termination, and pay schedules for ENGIE NA operating facilities
  • Recommend the hiring, termination, and pay schedules for Regional and Site Mangers positions for approval by the VP Field Operations and COO at ENGIE NA
  • Prepare and submit for review and approval annual and long term strategic plans, budgets and periodic reports for ENGIE NA managed facilities
  • Direct lender-required technical and budget review programs.
  • Identify and direct professional development of subordinates, including identifying needs and supporting plans
  • Comply with all ENGIE NA policies and procedures
  • Interface with commercial organization to enhance communications, outage decision making, dispatch decisions, metric utilization, and plant capability to maximize economic performance and/or optimize the sale of energy output from the facilities
  • Oversee the management of a portfolio of power generation facilities as an independent power producer operating in regulated, merchant, and PPA environments

 

 

What You’ll Bring

  • High school diploma/technical degree or equivalent education where you gain knowledge and or experience with leadership, management, communication, organizational, operational and prioritization skills
  • A minimum of ten (10) years’ experience with demonstrated leadership and management of staff
  • Working knowledge with Development, Operations, Maintenance, Dispatch and Optimization of Wind and Solar Assets
  • In-depth knowledge of battery storage, wind and solar power generating facilities, equipment and technologies
  • Proficiency with personal computer applications, in particular, operational and financial modeling and budgeting

 

 

Additional Details

  • This is a field position that requires daily attendance at a worksite including regular travel to client site(s)

Compensation

Salary Range: $166,900 – $255,070 USD annually

What You Can Expect

As the on-site Wind Technician II, at the Prairie Hill Wind Site in Mart, TXyou will report to the Operations and Maintenance office to meet the Site Operations Manager to receive work orders and discuss project details. Adaptability is crucial as tasks may vary depending on operational needs and requirements. Your primary responsibilities involve troubleshooting, repairing, reconnecting, and inspecting electrical equipment, including substations and overall site performance.  At this site you will be working with high voltage energized equipment and must follow all safety procedures including Lock Out Tag Out (LOTO) grounding and other safety precautions. Collaborating with service providers and contractors, you will oversee daily work activities, produce various reports, operate site equipment, and coordinate with local utilities and Independent System Operators (ISOs) for switching and curtailments.

 

Ensuring compliance with ENGIE and regulatory agency standards, you'll conduct inspections and recurring checks on site equipment. You'll actively participate in behavior-based safety programs, enforce safety procedures, and conduct orientations and meetings to promote a safe working environment. Alongside routine inspections and serving as the main contact for landowners, you'll manage spare parts inventory, coordinate contractor work, and maintain cleanliness on-site.

 

Gaining and maintaining GWO training is required, as well as participating in turbine climbing activities. You'll provide recommendations for operational and maintenance improvements, offer equipment operation training, and utilize Root Cause Failure Analysis techniques to address failures. You will work on computerized work order systems for purchase requisitions and receiving statuses.  From time to time you will be required to support other wind assets during planned outages and emergencies, potentially requiring overnight stays. Furthermore, you'll be part of an on-call rotation and must reside within 50 miles of the site to respond promptly to outages and emergencies.

What You Can Expect

As the Operations Manager for this 200 MW power plant situated in Eldorado, TX, you bear the responsibility for overseeing total employment, training, schedules, safety, and the day-to-day financial operations of the site. In your capacity as lead of safety, it is imperative to ensure that all permits and reports are current, valid, and in compliance with both federal and state regulatory agencies. You will be tasked with the management of vendors, subcontractors, maintenance, and consultants, coordinating efforts with third parties. Additionally, you will handle the troubleshooting of Balance of Plant (BOP) switching, Lock Out Tag Out (LOTO) functions, and communicate with landowners and local communities.

 

Your managerial role extends to leading a team comprising one technician. Utilizing systems like Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA), you will monitor daily asset performance and regulatory compliance to meet standards set by organizations such as the National Electrical Renewables Council (NERC). Your responsibilities involve utilizing various computer-based systems, ensuring the timely update and maintenance of all documentation. Collaboration with cross-functional management may be necessary to provide reports on the status, progress, and development of various projects on-site. Additionally, to ensure swift response to emergencies caused by outages, scheduled maintenance, and on-call reporting, it is required that you live within a 50-mile radius of the site.

 

  • Able to provide technical and management support for the design and operations of the wind farm site
  • Must be willing to attain substation technician certification within 12 months of hire date
  • Carries out all responsibilities under environmental legislation to prevent environmental spills
  • Manages a safety program that complies with all Federal and State requirements ensuring the safe operation of the site regarding the public, employees, and equipment
  • Cooperates with internal and third parties including Electric Reliability Council of Texas (ERCOT) regarding safety and regulatory compliance and responds to their recommendations in a timely manner

 

 

What You’ll Bring 

  • High school diploma/ technical degree or equivalent education where you gain knowledge and or experience with leadership, management, communication, organizational, operational and prioritization skills
  • Must have five (5) years’ experience in a related industry where you have experience with industrial electrical equipment, power generations, thermal generations, line, and utility scale equipment

ENGIE North America is hiring a Solar Technician for our Solar Site located near Anson, TX.  

 

Your daily responsibilities begin with accessing tasks via SCADA, Maximo, or various SAP software systems and repairing, troubleshooting, and fulfilling technical repair work orders for solar panels. You will manage documentation, update parts inventory, and as well as submit on-site status reports, including daily, weekly, monthly, and quarterly reports, and initiate work orders for equipment repairs.

 

  • Coordination of high voltage switching activities with local utilities and independent system operators (ISO), which includes tasks like substation operations, equipment lockouts and grounding
  • Adhere to safety protocols such as conducting Site-Specific Orientations, Job Safety Analysis (JSA), and safety meetings
  • While you will primarily work independently on-site, there will always be a nearby technician for safety support; the site's team comprises of a site manager, a Balance of Plant technician, and the solar technician. You will also be a part of an on-call rotation for outages and emergencies; therefore, you must reside within 50 miles of the site.

 

 

What You’ll Bring

  • Minimum two (2) years diploma in a technical program where you have learned AC/ DC electrical theory, understand reading blue prints and schematics, industrial electrical equipment including breaker, disconnects, transformers, contactors

What You Can Expect

As the Solar Technician, your daily responsibilities begin with accessing tasks via SCADA, Maximo, or various SAP software systems upon arrival at the solar plant in Alpine, TX. Your duties encompass repairing, troubleshooting, and fulfilling technical repair work orders for solar panels. You will also manage documentation, update parts inventory, and as well as submit on-site status reports, including daily, weekly, monthly, and quarterly reports, and initiating work orders for equipment repairs. Coordination of high voltage switching activities with local utilities and independent system operators (ISO), which includes tasks like substation operations, equipment lockouts and grounding. You will be required to adhere to safety protocols such as conducting Site-Specific Orientations, Job Safety Analysis (JSA), and safety meetings. While you will primarily work independently on-site, there will always be a nearby technician for safety support. The site's team comprises (1) one solar team member and the Regional Operations Manager. You will also be a part of an on-call rotation for outages and emergencies; therefore, you must reside within 50 miles of the site.

 

 

What You’ll Bring

  • Minimum two (2) years diploma in a technical program where you have learned AC/ DC electrical theory, understand reading blue prints and schematics, industrial electrical equipment including breaker, disconnects, transformers, contactors  
  • Minimum two (2) years of experience in Solar generation sites, Wind generation sites, Thermal power plants, Manufacturing or Mining operations, or Controls & Industrial Maintenance
  • Must have or be willing to obtain certification by AVO as substation technician within 12 months of hire date

The Development Associate position will support the Project Development Team with a broad range of pre-construction development activities related to ENGIE’s portfolio of utility-scale renewable energy projects across the United States and Canada.

 

  • The Development Associate will work closely with land and greenfield teams, interconnection experts, as well as pre-construction, engineering and project delivery departments, and other aspects of wind, solar and storage project development to actively drive utility scale development activities from feasibility to construction.
  • Manage all aspects of environmental site assessment, permitting, transmission/interconnection, land acquisition, and design activities in close collaboration with the Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) in the functional groups
  • Engage consultants, review their findings, and ensure implementation of project goals
  • Manage agency, Authority Having Jurisdiction (AHJ) submittals, permit application preparations, interactions on local and state level, and attend public permitting hearings
  • Develop project model underwriting assumptions in alignment with investment criteria and off-take origination efforts. Support energy offtake, financing, and project Merger and Acquisition (M&A) discussions and document preparation. Prepare investment presentation materials for ENGIE investment committees and review project pro forma financial models to understand how returns are impacted
  • Engage with landowners and stakeholders to keep them informed throughout the development process, including attending community engagement events
  • Maintain database tracking project progress
  • Remain abreast of tax incentives, renewable energy opportunities in the United States and the national industry trends impacting the future of renewable development opportunities and their competitiveness as they relate to customers 

 

 

What You Will Bring

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Environmental, Business Administration or Economics 
  • Minimum two (2) years related experience, in renewable energy development or other fields of project development with the ability to navigate permitting processes and community involvement
  • Skilled in project management with the ability to multi-task and prioritize critical path tasks

What You Can Expect

As our Electrical Engineer Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) Advisor, you will be responsible for supporting the utility scale operations group by acting as a technical leader, providing mentorship for junior engineers, ensuring the safe operation of the facilities, and collaborating across multiple disciples by participating in design reviews. In this position you will manage the electrical design of battery-based energy storage systems and thorough understanding of BESS architecture including rack, module, container and plant-level controls. You will be expected to prepare site acceptance test (SAT) and integration test plan for BESS systems. Technical review of documents provided by vendors. This position will be based out of the Houston, TX office and will be supporting assets in both US and Canada.

 

  • Provide mentorship for Junior Engineers in technical matters relating to the operation of BESS and troubleshooting.
  • Coordinate with various groups within the organization on technical matters and represent the Operations function in the various stages of the project design including review of drawings and studies.
  • Perform complex engineering/design calculations specific to discipline (equipment sizing, load flow, short circuit, Arc flash, grounding, etc.)
  • Interface with various system operators including ERCOT, PJM, SPP and MISO on technical issues including those related to operations planning and modelling.
  • Lead the development and continuous improvement of commissioning, maintenance, and standard operating procedures.
  • Review maintenance records and recommend corrective actions to ensure reliability and compliance with the applicable NERC standards.
  • Develop structured feedback sessions for all lessons learned with the project team to include misoperations, root cause analysis (Six-sigma, DMAIC, fish-bone), and safety-related events

 

 

What You’ll Bring

  • A Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or an equivalent combination of education and utility experience
  • A minimum of seven (7) years’ of experience of directly relevant engineering experience working on energy storage systems
  • Basic knowledge of SCADA networks and protocols such as MODBUS, DNP3, and any proprietary SCADA protocols.
  • Working knowledge of battery chemistries and their impact on overall BESS system design
  • Knowledge of engineering standards including NEC, NESC, NEMA, IEEE and ANSI

Renewables Global Business Unit (R-GBU) is supporting the Group to accelerate Renewables (RES) asset development with an EBIT around €1.2 Bn end of 2021. Scope of the missions:

 

Drafting and negotiation of M&A transactions in France both buy-side and sell-side (NBO, BO, SPA, put and call agreement etc. ) from due diligence phase to post-closing;
Implementation and monitoring of partnerships: drafting and negotiation of shareholders agreement;
Drafting and negotiation of complex commercial contracts, such as non-recourse financings, including legal follow-up of financing agreements (waiver, security package, etc.);
Review of PPAs (for all geographies, not only France);
Participation in cross-functional issues related to the governance of the companies, etc.;
Supporting operational teams and management in their decision-making by identifying and assessing legal risks and making proposals and recommendations
 

Ensuring that these activities are conducted in compliance with applicable laws, ethical principles, policies and procedures in force within the Engie Group, and reporting on any non-compliance, encouraging a culture of compliance with these laws, principles, policies and procedures
