Position Summary:

The Job Holder will work closely with other Electrical Technicians to ensure Plant Routines are carried out efficiently and to high quality standards;

Technical            

  • Responsible to ensure compliance of IMS.
  • Practical experience of maintaining instrumentation and control equipment gained through hands on experience and formal training.
  • Organizing spares, tools and equipment to carry out maintenance activities
  • Carry out maintenance activities on a range of major Electrical systems in accordance with OEM Manuals for the equipment.
  • Performs troubleshooting activities as necessary to determine failure conditions and rectifies the defects found.
  • Works with Plant Operations Personnel for resolving problems encountered with control equipment under the guidance of the ELECTRICAL Foreman/Engineer.
  • Ability to carry out duties with minimum supervision
  • Practical knowledge of plant isolations from system
  • Knowledge of health & safety and safe working practices

Position Summary

Plant Operations

  • Perform periodic sampling/calibration of lab instruments and checks of plant process water, sea water inlet and return (outfall) water and maintains a record of result.
  • Carry out routine Lab analysis of the plant process steam water cycle, Demin water, distillate, potable water and other random samples.
  • Knowledge on Co2 plant and Electro chlorination Plant
  • Monitor analytical results and take corrective and preventive actions.
  • Support and organize procedure for specialized acid cleaning, demister cleaning and degassifier cleaning etc.
  • Investigate and provide advice to operations about plant chemistry related issues and shutdown inspections along with report preparation (MED, Boilers, Condenser etc.)
  • Perform Lab analysis techniques, provide reports and recommend necessary remedial measures on material compatibility related issues to operations and maintenance teams.
  • Coordinates with external Labs for analysis results.
  • Responsible for maintaining material safety data sheets for all the chemicals used in Plant.
  • Responsible for managing and maintaining the lab chemicals, inventory and bulk chemicals consumption monitoring on routine basis

Core Competencies

Technical:

  • Good chemistry or chemical engineering foundation and practical knowledge of how it applies to modern power plant and desalination plant technologies.
  • Specific knowledge of: Cooling water chemistry, GT Evaporative Coolers, Closed Cooling Water system, HRSG, Multi Effect Desalination (MED), Distillate/Potable Water quality, DM plant Operation & Regeneration and related monitoring/dosing control
  • Ensuring compliance to legal obligations for monitoring and controlling potable water, ground water quality, stack emissions and effluents.
  • Update routine standard operating procedures/ COSHH assessment/ Risk Assessment
  • Provide training/Toolbox Talk related to bulk chemicals to Chemical Helpers
  • Performs Demin, potable water HRSG, condensate and feed water, sea water, outfall and cooling water quality testing, limestone analysis and makes correction to the process as necessary.
  • Performs routine chemical analysis, compare these with standards, prepares reports and performs or advises on chemical dosing.
  • Liaises closely with the operational team during any plant start-up, taking frequent water samples, performing the necessary chemical dosing and advising the shift staff regarding chemical process control across the range of plant.
  • Keeps logbooks and maintain reports
  • Ensures compliance with all environmental health and safety regulations
  • Looks after technical and quality standard for all lab and sampling activity and prepare reagents
  • Filling and associated documents management of environmental and water treatment reports, reading and other documents.

Internal:

  • Daily communication of plant maintenance issues and defects with the Maintenance Team and other teams.

Every day, you will be responsible for managing the Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS) to ensure the plants are operational. You will coordinate with various Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEMs), internal and external maintenance partners, and provide hands-on troubleshooting for on-site technical issues. Additionally, you will perform deviation detection and mitigation for the operating battery plants.

 

You will communicate with internal departments, including High Voltage, Performance Management, Asset Management, and Remote Operations teams, to report issues, address needs, and support issue resolution by coordinating with internal teams, OEMs, and EMS providers. Furthermore, you will support reliability improvement plans by collaborating with in-house and third-party technical engineering staff.

 

Reporting to the Field Services Manager, your primary duties encompass:

  • Oversee internal field service team for regional sites
  • Coordination with various OEMs/internal/external maintenance partners
  • Hands-on troubleshooting of on-site technical issues

This position requires a technical degree in electrical engineering or equivalent and experience with power systems and renewables. Every day you will work with a cross-functional team of systems engineers, subject level experts in power electrical engineering and battery engineering, software engineering,  commissioning engineering, and project managers. Additionally, you will act independently with minimal direction and, as a project team member, able to work cooperatively to deliver quality electrical engineering for the project, interconnection agreements, and the team’s goals for a successful project.

 

Work alongside engineering to design and commission stationary energy storage systems based on lithium-ion battery technology

In-take and implement improvement ideas from installation crews in the field and from operations

Understand the impact of design to installation and operation of the battery energy storage system (BESS) system, document lessons learned and create a feedback loop to escalate issues

Participate in solving problems with various components or at the system level

Identify and resolve conflicts, inter-dependencies, and program issues quickly and efficiently

Ensure BESS internal guidelines are followed

Job       Purpose/Mission 

The Service Network Intern supports ENGIE Energy Access Kenya’s Service Network unit by assisting in the delivery of excellent after-sales services to customers. This role involves supporting Zonal Sales and Collection Managers in conducting regular training sessions for all Installation and Maintenance Technicians to enhance customer experience. Additionally, the Intern provides technical assistance for field issues to ensure customer satisfaction with ENGIE products and helps maintain an effective and consistent quality of service across all customer interactions.

 

Responsibilities

  • Customer Satisfaction: Assist in ensuring timely product installation and resolution of service tickets according to company policies.
  • Documentation: Accurately document installation and maintenance cases using company systems like Power hub and Mysol Fix.
  • Installation Validation: Help validate system installations to ensure GPS coordinates and customer traceability for repossessions.
  • Cost Monitoring: Monitor transport costs and commissions for installation and maintenance cases.
  • Stock Management: Help provide weekly item swap projections and ensure sufficient stock levels in consultation with the Service Centre Manager and Logistics Team.
  • Process Documentation: Ensure all service network-related processes and policies are properly documented and up to date.

 

Knowledge and Skills  

  • Knowledge of Excel spread sheets and data entry skills
  • Ability to read and interpret electrical data sheets.
  • Good time management and organizational skills
  • Detail oriented and well-organized
  • Ability to balance multiple tasks while working under tight deadlines with close attention to detail, accuracy and quality always.

Qualifications:
