Equipment Failure Trouble Shooting and Repair

 

  • Supports the 24-hour operation by being regularly available for call-out at short notice.
  • Attempts all possible means of reducing equipment downtime and ensuring high Plant availability
  • Performs troubleshooting activities as necessary along with the I&C Lead Engineer and colleagues to determine failure conditions and rectifies the defects found
  • Records and reports to the I&C Lead Engineer all rectification jobs undertaken.
  • Works with Plant Operations Personnel for resolving problems encountered with I&C equipment under the guidance of the C&I Lead Engineer.

 

Reporting and Planning

  • Perform all operational activities in line with the safety management system and environment management systems.

  • Perform the duties of stand in CRE whenever necessary.
  • Prepares plant for start-ups in accordance with operations procedure.
  • Performs plant shut down and extended shut down preservation of plant routines in accordance with operations procedure.
  • Perform manual intervention actions during trip conditions and maintains close supervision to ensure safe run down of plant. 
  • Practical application of safety rules performing safe plant isolations from the system to allow routine maintenance activities. De-isolates and restores plant equipment safely to the system. 
  • Perform routine maintenance activity on the plant such as lube oil top-up in the absence of maintenance personnel.
  • Support CRE during emergency situations.
  • Carry out the sample analysis of the plant process steam water cycle in cases where Chemist is not on-site and on Demin water, distillate, potable water and other samples
  • Monitors and evaluates performance of various plant systems and equipment.
  • Responsible for maintaining safety and housekeeping of the plant.
  • Initiates routine operational activities.

 

Maintenance activity

 

  • Perform lube oil top up as required on plant equipment.
  • Perform routine site inspections on routine basis to regular  update plant equipment status.
  • Carry out dewatering routine in specified areas of the plant as required.
  • Raising Work Orders Regarding Defects and Abnormal Conditions.
  • Raise service request in CMMS system for defects coordinates with the Shift Team Leader for approval.
  • Assistance to maintenance personnel to pinpoint equipment defects when necessary.
  • Confirm the performance of the equipment after attending the defects.

 

Management of Plant Chemicals

 

  • Responsible for changing over of chemical tanks.
  • Responsible for ensuring that sufficient chemical tank levels are available for plant operations.

 

Maintaining Water Quality

 

  • To ensure the export quality of potable water to meet with the WHO guide lines and potable water quality standards set in PWPA.

Job purpose

SWPC issued a Conditional Award to Engie for the Jubail 3B SWRO Project.  The plant is a fully contracted IWP producing 125 MIDD of potable water on coast of Persian Gulf, including a 570 000 m3 potable water storage facility and 59 km 380 kV transmission lines and substation.  Engie will construct a highly efficient and low carbon footprint plant design that fully utilizes the latest RO technology.

 

The Jubail 3B SWRO project is part of a major investment in additional SWRO facilities in KSA and is a major part of the expansion and diversification of the Kingdom.  The project site is located approx. 20Km South from the industrial city of Jubail, which has modern facilities. ENGIE operates various IPPs and IWPPs in this part of the kingdom, as Marafiq plant at 30 km and Fadhili Cogeneration plant at 70 km.

 

It is expected the CEO will be based in the Eastern Province of KSA.   It is also expected that there will be regular travel within KSA and occasional travel to Dubai or elsewhere in GCC.   The location may allow a commuting with Bahrain, under certain conditions and subject to further discussions.

The CEO is responsible for:

  • Dhuruma O&M company Ltd performs services through an O&M agreement for the Owner of the power facility: Dhuruma Electricity Company.
  • The project is a Greenfield IPP with a 20 year PPA with single off-taker (SEC) on BOO basis.
  • The Job Holder will be based at Dhuruma power plant (PP11), 125 km West of Riyadh;
  • Works in the Power Plant under the supervision of the I&C Engineer;
  • The Job Holder works closely with other I&C Technicians to ensure the Plant Routines are actioned efficiently and to high quality standards;
  • The Job Holder is required to understand and promptly act upon oral operational instructions, respond effectively in pressure situations, makes quick decisions in the event of breakdown or failure to safeguard the Plant, manage stress, coordinate and follow up on maintenance activities, ensuring high levels of safety and compliance with procedures.

 

6.  PROBLEM SOLVING:

  • The Job Holder is supposed to act and find solutions to (potential) problems within the Department; however he is responsible for keeping the I&C engineer informed.
  • The thinking environment is characterized by diverse, standardized operating procedures;
  • The Job Holder must consider how problems will be solved.  The focus is on working with the I&C Engineer to apply learned techniques, maintenance experience, initiative and judgment at problem solving.

 

7.  COMMUNICATION AND WORKING RELATIONSHIPS:

The Job Holder will work and communicate with:

  • Internal: The Maintenance, Operation, Administration, Finance and Accounting, HR, HSE;
  • The Job Holder must communicate with their own Team (other I&C Technicians), the I&C Engineer and Contractors as necessary.

 

8.  FRAMEWORKS, BOUNDARIES AND DECISION-MAKING AUTHORITY:

  • Operates within the approved budgetary limits;
  • The I&C Technician makes decisions within clearly defined parameters and under the guidance of the I&C Engineer;
  • The I&C Technician makes decisions in line with company objectives and objectives of the Maintenance Department.

10.  QUALIFICATIONS, EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS:

 

Essential Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma
  • Demonstrated competence supported with adequate education and training

 

 

Experience:

  • At least 10 years experience in the I&C maintenance of a large combined cycle power plant, 3 of which must have been in the capacity of I&C Technician
  • Use of safety systems
  • Use of computerized maintenance management system
  • Relevant experience in the instrumentation field is required, preferably in a combined cycle plant of industrial environment;
  • Good experience in the maintenance and repair of power plant equipment, preferably in a power and desalination plant;
  • Operational plant or construction site experience is an advantage.

 

Skills:

 

Behavioral:

  • Must be a strong team player and have good organizational skills;
  • Ability to plan and work independently and take responsibility for plant projects;
  • Willing to work sometimes irregular and extended hours and be “on call”;
  • Knowledge of types of equipment installed derived through a combination of hands-on experience and formal training performed in the manufacturer’s factory and/or at the jobsite;
  • Demonstrates skills in the use of tools, test equipment and calibration appliances;
  • Basic understanding of chemistry, physics, electricity and mathematics;
  • Some exposure to SAP Maintenance Modules is necessary;
  • Hands-on background in water treatment equipment maintenance as related to gas turbines, high-pressure boilers, desalination, cooling water systems and water purification equipment;
  • A working knowledge of Environmental Regulations as they pertain to the operations and maintenance of an Energy Generating Facility;

Must be able to perform First Aid and CPR.

 

Language:

  • English Language: excellent communication skills both written and verbal;
  • Arabic is an advantage;

 

Computer:

  • Computer literate: must have a some degree of skill in Business Computing Applications such as Databases, Word Processors, Spreadsheets, PowerPoint and Maintenance Management System, DCS/PLC system.
