What You Can Expect

As a Retail Power Portfolio Senior Advisor  in Houston, you will be directly accountable to deliver expected gross margin originated from retail contract sales, focusing on PJM and MISO deregulated power regions. You will own all aspects of Profit & Loss (P&L) related to your retail power book, including detailed explanation of delivery month actuals, Power Purchase Agreements (PPA’s), forward book Market to Market (MTM) changes, and budget planning. You will be responsible for identifying risks, recommending hedge strategies, and taking direct action to hedge and manage all price and volume risk exposures inherit in retail power business. In collaboration with other key members of the Portfolio Management Team, you will share responsibility in formulating forward price curves for all Cost of Goods Sold (COGS) components of full- requirements products and continuous calibration of costing assumptions to ensure ENGIE remains competitive in retail space and share accountability to meet Sales goals.  You will also interact with other internal teams to meet Engie Resources’ objectives, including Sales, Business Development, Origination, Trading, Operations, Risk Management, Marketing, and Digital teams.

 

  • Trade financial and physical instruments for Energy, Capacity, Renewable Energy Certificates (RECs), Ancillaries, Firm Transmission Rights (FTRs), Power Purchase Agreements (PPAs), Power Options, and Weather derivatives in support of retail business
  • Validate load forecasts and oversee day-ahead demand bid schedules
  • Produce and reconcile daily Net Open Position (NOP) and MTM reports
  • Aggregate revenue and cost data to measure portfolio profitability
  • Contribute to daily formulation and regular calibration of forward price curves for Energy, Capacity, Ancillary Services, Renewable Portfolio Standard (RPS), Network Integration Transmission Service (NITS), and all other cost components of full-requirements electricity products
  • Manage the price and volume risks associated with serving retail power load with various contractual obligations, i.e. fixed price, index, or hybrid 
  • Research complex business problems and identify opportunities to design, develop, and propose actionable solutions in support of pricing, portfolio management, and margin analysis activities
  • Coordinate with various functional groups to review and validate customer revenue and ISO settlement data to gain insights into portfolio profitability
  • Provide insight into the drivers of portfolio Profit & Loss from budget development through final settlement
  • Follow and comply with industry specifications, standards, regulations, and laws
  • Research and produce ad-hoc analysis on market fundamentals, risk exposure, customer load characteristics, various cost components and regulatory issues to enhance competitiveness, optimize risk exposure, and optimize the profitability of the portfolio 
  • Prepare and present market fundamentals presentations to internal and external customers
  • Participate in conference calls in support of Sales efforts with end-user customers, brokers, and other partners
  • Contribute to the development and enhancement of models and system platforms in support of costing and portfolio management activities
  • Support new product development activities through coordination with various internal functional groups
  • Operate as a team member with all employees of ENGIE North America staff

What You’ll Bring

  • Bachelor’s degree in which you completed courses in a quantitative discipline majors in Business, Economics, Engineering, Accounting, Mathematics or Computer Science
  • Minimum of 10 years work-related experience
  • Retail power portfolio management experience and expertise in full requirements cost components, with emphasis on PJM and MISO preferred
  • Problem solving, strong analytical and statistical skills and ability to convey complex technical analysis to a broader audience including senior leadership
  • Understanding of energy market fundamentals, including customer usage properties and pricing methodologies
  • Understanding of options and hedging practices to manage retail power shape and swing risk
  • Strong oral and written communication skills
  • Strong knowledge and proficiency of MS Excel
  • Experience in extraction, transformation, and management of large quantities of data using such tools as VBA, SQL, Microsoft Power BI
  • Strong analytical, planning, and organizational skills
  • High level of attention to detail
  • Ability to think logically and with clear reasoning

Compensation

Salary Range: $128,400 – $196,765 USD annually

You will bring forward your broad knowledge of long-term price modelling and energy market principles including NEM or gas markets dispatch processes, generator behaviour, network constraints, and power system operations as well as long-term price drivers.

You will also have keen interest in understanding energy market drivers as well as experience in liaising with internal and external stakeholders, including project management. Data analytics proficiency including SQL, Python, R, VBA, and PowerBI will be advantageous.

Your role :

 

  • Ultimate responsible for managing a portfolio of approximately 50 customers and prospects. A portfolio will be federally composed of accounts almost active in building management (syndic), property management (offices and warehousing) and retail. Most activities are located in Flanders.
  • Striving for a long-term partnership and value creation with the customers in your portfolio. Giving support in offering, invoicing, switching and dunning processes to ensure a high level of control over all activities in the entire customer portfolio
  • Work together with colleagues within the premium sales team and other B2B salesteam. You will meet the premium sales team on a weekly bases during a sales meeting. The purpose is exchange of information and best practices to enhance the global level of professionalism in the team. Team spirit, trust, care and one Engie our the basic principles of the team dynamics
  • Organize dedicated meetings to solve specific files/problems and build up a broad network within Gems with colleagues in downstream, legal, IT, marketing& energy transition services,  finance,… and within the broad Engie group (mirror supply B2B organizations in other countries)
  • Promote the image and values ​​(ethics, safety, sustainability, etc.) of the Engie group in all your contacts, both within and outside the group
  • Report to the Sales Manager B2B Premium Sales

Must have:

  • Results-oriented and very dedicated to achieve your goals. A sufficient dose of entrepreneurship is a must. Organize your agenda and account plan independently

Education and professional background :

Travels :

  • The place of employment is Brussels. Present in Brussels at least once a week on Friday.
  • The rest of the week will be completed flexible in relation to customer visits, projects, administrative follow-up, from home, from Brussels or via other Engie locations.
  • International travelling is possible, but rather exceptional

What You Can Expect

As part of its development plan in North America, ENGIE Energy Marketing NA, Inc. (EEMNA)  is looking for a VP Structured Gas Origination.

 

As a VP Structured Gas Origination, you are responsible for developing the origination, structuring and marketing for customers and commercial opportunities with consumers, producers, and marketers of natural gas and related products in North America. You are responsible for leading the strategic direction whilst directly working in marketing efforts for Natural Gas and related products to customers across North America.

 

  • Develop and execute the Gas Origination strategy with short- and long-term objectives working together with the EEMNA Leadership, Origination team, Trading, and support functions
  • Deliver gross margin targets and business returns considering risk/reward through the development and execution of customer hedging strategies and structured deals
  • Responsible for project management on resource assignments and deliverables supporting Structured Origination
  • Manage relationships with various trade desks and functional teams to work transactions through the front to back process, while providing excellent client focused service and information flow (i.e. Credit, Legal, Contracts and Compliance / Regulatory)
  • Work in collaboration Risk and Finance to propose and approve risk management strategies and new products in order to optimize, model and manage the wholesale portfolio
  • Coordinate with Origination team to identify existing and new customers for our offerings while developing and maintaining trusted relationships with customers as part of marketing efforts
  • Remain current on fundamental/financial market conditions and drivers impacting the energy markets in North America
  • Demonstrated ability to deliver results, timely management of deals,  and proven  contract negotiation skills from initiation to execution
  • Represent ENGIE at conferences, client events and presentations

 

 

 

What You’ll Bring

  • A minimum of Bachelor’s Degree in which you completed courses in Business, Finance, Economics, Engineering or other Analytical field
  • Minimum of 15 years in North America natural gas markets including trading, marketing origination and/or structuring with a track record of adding value through originating commercial delivery and business growth
  • Origination, negotiation and portfolio risk analytic skills to develop the platform
  • Demonstrated knowledge and experience with commodity derivative products to structure highly complex transactions with producers or consumers
  • Strong knowledge of North America energy market
  • Excellent commercial instinct, creativity and ability to find and create commercial value from multiple sources
  • Visionary and strategic leader with ability to inspire and motivate internal clients on deliverables of objectives
  • Demonstrated leadership and initiative within a business environment, especially with key stakeholders and EEMNA leadership team
  • Strong communication and presentation skills and ability to present to senior executive management both internally and externally
  • Collaborative team player with demonstrated willingness to widely share knowledge and expertise
  • Strong working knowledge of Capital and Project Finance
  • Experience in contract negotiations and execution

Compensation

Salary Range: $232,900 – $341,550 USD annually

 

This represents the average expected pay range for a qualified candidate.

Actual offered salary may depend on geography, experience, industry knowledge, education, internal pay alignment, or other bona fide factors.

In addition to base pay, this position is eligible for a competitive bonus / incentive plan.
