As a Project Management Advisor, your role will involve leading all phases of energy projects, ensuring they’re completed on time, within budget, and meet the highest standards for quality, safety, and cash management—all while securing strong customer references. These projects will span energy efficiency measures, facility renovations, renewable generation installations, and carbon reduction strategies, helping public sector, commercial, and industrial customers across the U.S. become more sustainable, reduce costs, and improve operations.

Managing multiple projects simultaneously, you’ll oversee everything from early development through post-construction, including design, procurement, contract negotiations, and project implementation. Assigning responsibilities to the project team and establishing schedules will be key, along with handling technical aspects like scope development, conducting savings analysis, and assessing the feasibility of proposed solutions. Collaboration is essential in this role, as you’ll work closely with the Sales team to support customer presentations and interviews during project development. Partnering with the Legal department, you'll negotiate and prepare customer agreements and change orders, ensuring contractual obligations are met.

When it comes to budgeting, maintaining precise records of all cost components will be crucial. Any necessary adjustments will be promptly communicated to your supervisors. Together with the Construction Manager, you’ll establish a comprehensive project schedule, ensuring milestones are met and projects are completed on time. Your coordination with Accounting will ensure timely customer invoicing, and you’ll proactively resolve any payment delays. Compliance with local labor regulations will be part of your responsibility, as will overseeing the completion of monitoring packages and final job close-out.

This position will be remote, Illinois and will report to the Project Management Director.

What You’ll Bring

• A minimum of a four (4) year degree in which you have gained a knowledge of construction management, engineering elements, and project management functions
• A minimum of seven (7) years of related work experience in project management of complex projects including training and certifications
• You are proficient with MS Office; including, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Project
• Skillful in project accounting to manage project budgets

• Solid technical writing abilities

Compensation

Salary Range: $112,000-$172,500 USD

From conducting comprehensive site audits to specifying equipment and conducting savings calculations, the Project Engineer, Senior executes projects from development to completion. Projects encompass energy efficiency measures and renewable generation installations aimed at fostering sustainability, cost savings, and enhanced services for local cities, schools, and counties.

As a key contributor, the Project Engineer, Senior evaluates existing utility data to optimize customer loads and explore potential energy cost reductions through rate change options. The Project Engineer, Senior conducts surveys to identify energy savings opportunities across lighting, control systems, and Heating, Ventilation and Air Conditioning (HVAC), while also performing detailed assessments of renewable energy solutions such as solar photo voltaic and energy storage. The Project Engineer, Senior review utility incentive programs and permit requirements, ensuring compliance and timely submissions. The right person will be working in a fast-paced, team-based environment, at the direction of the Project Manager as well as their supervisor. In this role, you will manage one to several projects simultaneously from early development through post-construction, including design, procurement, contract negotiations, and project implementation.

In addition to assigning responsibilities to the project team and establishing schedules for individual team members, the Project Management, Advisor oversees various technical aspects of the project. This includes developing the project scope, conducting savings analysis, and ensuring the feasibility of proposed measures. Collaborating with the Sales team, you will evaluate and qualify opportunities and participate in customer presentations and interviews during the development phase. As one of the primary customer contact during the development and implementation phases, you will ensure complete customer satisfaction with ENGIE’s services. You will liaise with the Legal department to prepare and negotiate customer agreements and change orders, ensuring all contractual obligations are met. The Project Management, Advisor is also responsible for managing all cost components throughout project implementation, maintaining precise budget records, and promptly notifying supervisors of any necessary adjustments. As our Project Management Senior (PM) working in a self-managed team concept, you will be a part of the ENGIE capital projects team based at the beautiful University of Iowa Campus in Iowa City, Iowa.  Our projects are located on both the main and Oakdale  campuses and include the University Hospital. As part of this team you will be responsible for managing utility infrastructure capital projects associated with expanding and maintaining the utility system on the campus. Projects range in size from $100,000 to $50M, with completion of each taking the span of 1-5 years. 

This position is being hired in support of a fifty (50) year concession agreement to operate, maintain and enhance the University of Iowa’s utility system.  The projects you’ll take on will involve numerous and diverse projects in the areas of electric and thermal energy production and distribution, as well as storm and wastewater infrastructure.

No two days are the same, starting with the development stage  you will be submitting reports and conducting meetings with Team members, subcontractors and stakeholders on a regular basis, providing oversight and sharing updates on projects and planning, solving construction challenges through collaboration  and clearing the path and working towards successful completion. The key measurements of success are successful completion of projects with no health, safety or environmental and public relations,  on time and under budget.  You will be managing contracts for both Design and construction of capital projects within the central plants, and managing project teams made of internal staff, external consultants  and operations and maintenance staff.

Additional duties include the following:

• Administer contracts to include the development of project specifications, a detailed scope of work and principle contract provisions, working closely with corporate Contracts Management and the Procurement Department
• Work with the University stakeholders, ENGIE colleagues, and ENGIE contractors, including engineers, architects, construction firms, and other contractors to develop and execute projects
• Partner with Program Manager and Operations and Maintenance leadership to identify potential projects and develop business justifications

What You’ll Bring  

• You have earned a Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or in a technical field from an ABET accredited institution

• You will have gained a minimum of five (5) years of experience in the successful management of construction or maintenance projects in which you gained experience with managing complex projects to successful completion, such as those involving schools, hospitals, manufacturing or universities 
• Possess or have the desire to achieve a PMP Certification
• You will have experience in fostering and adhering to the highest safety standards, ensuring the safety of all employees, contractors, and the general public
• You will have gained expertise in developing work packages for execution to include: statement of scope, change management, performance testing, QA/QC requirements, parts/tools, man-hours, material procurement, technical data sheets, drawings/specifications, task procedures and job safety plans
• You will have gained experience creating and giving presentations and professional  communications, using Microsoft Office, Procore, or other project management tools, to create written reports, project updates, and reporting data for all stakeholders including your management team, contractors, clients, and regulatory agencies
