Head of Power Supply
Purpose of the Position:
As the Head of Power Supply at GEMS Mexico, your role will be pivotal in creating the conditions for growth, decarbonization and derisking of the power portfolio.
Responsabilities and Job Functions:
- Upstream origination:
Propose upstream strategy preparing for future growth & ensuring strict compliance with regulation
Build and deliver corresponding pipeline: power from conventional or clean sources, capacity (Potencia), CELs and other green products, financial products
Develop high-level relations with power generators and the industry
Negotiate and manage power purchase agreements
- Portfolio management
Implement high-quality portfolio management
Study and deploy proxy hedging strategies
Enable optimization strategies to maximize portfolio’s value
Enable cross-border trading with US, Guatemala and Belize
Ensure compliance with Risk Mandate
Ensure that contracts include appropriate clauses accordingly to the power industry (including but not limited to clauses for liability, pricing, structures and guarantees)
- Product structuration and pricing
Based on client segmentation, competitive watch as well as understanding of market needs and constraints, build a set of innovative, flexible, de-risked products all in accordance with the applicable law and regulations.
Build best-in-class pricing models
Guarantee efficient offering process
- Operations
Support clients’ migration process (connection of new clients)
Ensure adequate after-sales client service
Stay updated on changes in regulatory frameworks to adapt the operations or company’s strategy accordingly.
- H&S
Ensure strict compliance with HSSE Group guidelines to prioritize safety and sustainability.
Promote a collaborative working environment
Ocupational Profile:
Academic profile: A pertinent university degree (an MBA is advantageous).
Expirience: +5 years of experience in similar position
Technical Skills:
- Excellent understanding of the Mexican Electricity Market & regulation
- Oversee the drafting, negotiation and administration of energy-related contracts.
- Excellent knowledge of Electricity products and services, including risk management / trading products/financial markets culture
- Excellent understanding of utility industry and energy procurement within client organizations.
- Proven experience in managing sales organizations, especially for complex products.
- People management skills to lead geographically diverse teams across various customer segments and products.
- Maintain strong relationships with internal stakeholders and external partners.
