2. BACKGROUND |
ENGIE is a long-term partner for Africa’s growing energy needs and a carbon-neutral economy. Our purpose is to accelerate the transition towards a carbon-neutral economy, through reduced energy consumption and more environmentally friendly solutions.
The position is key to support ENGIE’s businesses within South Africa, in the context of existing key businesses and strong growth ambitions. ENGIE is involved in the development and operation of renewable assets (onshore wind, solar PV, and concentrated solar power), and flexibility assets (OCGTs, Renewable Hydrogen and Battery Energy Storage).

3. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES |
ENGIE’s presence in South Africa is already strong and is set to grow. To grow the business means that the company needs a strong government relations manager to steer and navigate an integrated stakeholder approach aligned to the business focus, delivery and ambitions.
The purpose of the Regulatory and Public Affairs Manager role is to develop and lead the integrated strategic approach of government relations for ENGIE South Africa. This position aims to (1) understand key business stakes, then establish and represent the company’s position, as well as (2) monitor and explain relevant regulatory matters within the company (businesses in South Africa and corporate). To succeed, the incumbent will affect collaboration with relevant authorities in the South Africa to review and help frame policy decisions, navigate regulatory frameworks, and foster strong relationships with key stakeholders. The person in the role will also liaise and coordinate with a network of experts within the Group, in particular the Public Affairs Department, which reports to the Group General Secretary. He or she will be involved in existing networks for exchanges between the heads of public and regulatory affairs in the Group's various geographies. The role will comply with all applicable laws and ENGIE’s Ethical rules and policies.
