What You Can Expect
As a Transaction Tax Manager in Houston, you will report to Tax Director and responsible for indirect tax compliance for all of ENGIE North America (ENA) reporting entities. The scope includes sales and use tax, gross receipts tax, Paid Up Capital (PUC), excise tax, Goods and Services Tax (GST), utility tax, and any other transaction based tax returns as required, and state indirect tax audits.
- Manage indirect tax compliance to ensure timely and accurate filing and tax payments for all ENA companies
- Manage all indirect tax audits, and review audit support provided by business units to ensure it is accurate and ties to the tax returns as filed and proactively communicate issues and resolutions to ENGIE management
- Set standards for clear and thorough documentation for tax audits
- Manage the tax account reconciliation process for indirect tax.
- Manage and review use tax reversals and assist staff with Coupa tax tolerances as needed
- Provide tax guidance to Accounting, Asset Management, Business Development, Legal, and third-party vendors regarding applicability of state and local sales and use tax rules to fact patterns to resolve transaction tax issues
- Review state and local sales and use tax exemptions certificates, business registrations and tax refunds on a timely basis
- Cultivate accountability and responsibility in direct reports
- Maintain IDT internal controls and ensure that these controls align with practice and document compliance
- Implement automation initiatives and process improvements and maintain the veracity of the Project procedure write-ups
- Acts as a team member with all employees of ENGIE North America
- Comply with all ENGIE North America policies and procedures.
- Carry out other duties as assigned
What You’ll Bring
- Bachelor’s degree in which you completed courses in finance and accounting, or other related disciplines
- A minimum of 7 years relevant public accounting or industry tax experience
- Proficiency in Excel, Word, SAP, Tax research software and IDT return software
- Must have the ability to research tax issues as needed make conclusions or recommendations and assess tax risk
- Should have the ability to collaborate with business unit personnel including executive management
- Indirect tax compliance and strong accounting skills
- Active learner who takes pride in high quality work product
- Organized and responsible in meeting deadlines

Compensation
Salary Range: $112,000 – $150,000 USD annually
This represents the average expected pay range for a qualified candidate.
Actual offered salary may depend on geography, experience, industry knowledge, education, internal pay alignment, or other bona fide factors.

In addition to base pay, this position is eligible for a competitive bonus / incentive plan.
