What You Can Expect
As the Engineering Associate you will be a key player of a diverse team developing cutting-edge energy storage solutions. This position requires a technical degree in electrical engineering or equivalent and experience with power systems and renewables. In this role you will be working with the rest of the engineering team in identifying project requirements, designing battery energy storage systems, specifying system components, supporting the business development team, managing projects from design to operation, and supporting the operations team. This position is part of the Flexible Generation & Retail Global Business Unit (FGBU) in North America.
Every day you will work with a cross-functional team of systems engineers, subject level experts in power electrical engineering and battery engineering, software engineering, commissioning engineering, and project managers. Additionally, you will act independently with minimal direction and, as a project team member, able to work cooperatively to deliver quality electrical engineering for the project, interconnection agreements, and the team’s goals for a successful project.
- Work alongside engineering to design and commission stationary energy storage systems based on lithium-ion battery technology
- In-take and implement improvement ideas from installation crews in the field and from operations
- Understand the impact of design to installation and operation of the battery energy storage system (BESS) system, document lessons learned and create a feedback loop to escalate issues
- Participate in solving problems with various components or at the system level
- Identify and resolve conflicts, inter-dependencies, and program issues quickly and efficiently
- Ensure Engie’s BESS internal guidelines are followed
What You’ll Bring
- Bachelor's Degree in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering; or related field
- Knowledge of renewable systems, battery storage, generation system design
- Understanding of relevant standards and electrical studies for utility applications
- Knowledge of development of the electrical construction drawing set and Controls, Networking, supervisory control and data acquisition (SCADA)
- Ability to create, read and interpret construction plans and specifications
Additional Details
- This role is eligible for our hybrid work policy
- Must be available to travel domestically 50% of the time and with the need for some overnight trips
- Must be willing and able to comply with all ENGIE ethics and safety policies
Compensation
Salary Range: $62,400 – $90,505 USD annually
This represents the average expected pay range for a qualified candidate.
Actual offered salary may depend on geography, experience, industry knowledge, education, internal pay alignment, or other bona fide factors.

In addition to base pay, this position is eligible for an incentive plan.
