Your mission
As Project Director in the Infrastructure Business Line of Tractebel, you will play a pivotal role in the management and delivery of Project Management Consultancy (PMC) services for large-scale infrastructure projects, such as Data Centers or other multi-technical constructions.
Your primary responsibility will be to oversee the entire project lifecycle on behalf of the Client, ensuring successful execution from concept to commissioning and hand-over. This includes assembling and leading a high-performing team, managing project controls, ensuring compliance with quality and safety standards, and maintaining strong client relationships.
Your key responsibilities
- Managing and organizing a PMC project team of approximately 40 staff members, ensuring performance, well-being, and efficient deployment.
- Overseeing staff presence on-site, managing back-ups, rotations during holiday periods, and coordinating weekend/night work as required.
- Acting as the primary contact for the Client and external stakeholders, building strong relationships and ensuring clear, effective communication both formally and informally.
- Anticipating risks and challenges, and reporting critical issues to Tractebel’s Project Director or Project Sponsor.
- Preparing essential project documentation, including the Project Execution Plan.
- Delivering PMC services to the satisfaction of the Client, covering areas such as:
- Project Controls: Developing tools and monitoring schedule and cost progress, critically assessing contractor reports, and identifying risks.
- Contract and Commercial Management: Managing multiple contractor agreements, overseeing changes, maintaining financial reporting, and ensuring contractual compliance.
- Risk Management: Identifying and mitigating project risks.
- Construction Management: Coordinating contractors’ on-site work, optimizing work sequences, and providing authorizations.
- QAQC Management: Conducting quality control, including Factory Acceptance Tests and ensuring proper hand-over to commissioning.
- HSE Management: Ensuring compliance with safety standards, regulations, and social laws at every project stage.
- Maintaining transparent and efficient communication with all project stakeholders, including the Client, team members, vendors, and external parties.
- Monitoring Client satisfaction and ensuring Tractebel’s high-performance standards are upheld.
We would love to hear from people with
- A Master’s degree in Engineering or equivalent.
- At least 20 years of professional experience, including 10+ years in project management roles for large-scale infrastructure construction projects.
- Expertise in multi-contractor projects, with experience in Data Center or similar infrastructure being a strong asset.
- Proficiency in procurement, construction, contract management, and multidisciplinary projects.
- Excellent people management and leadership skills.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to build trust and manage client relationships effectively.
- Experience working in international environments.
- Fluency in English and French.
- A dynamic, results-oriented, and well-organized mindset, with the ability to thrive under pressure.
- Willingness to work on a construction site office in Belgium.
