  • Power System Simulations: RMS and EMT

  • Industry
  • Utilities (DSOs, TSOs)
  • Renewable Power (Hydro, Wind, Solar, etc.)
  • Battery Storage
  • Thermal and Nuclear Generation

Your responsibilities as Power Network Engineer (F/M/X)

 

We are looking for a highly motivated and enthusiastic person with a passion for applied Research & Innovation, able to work well independently.  As part of the Expert Team of Power Networks at Laborelec, you will:

  • Conduct Research & Innovation Projects: Lead applied research projects for ENGIE R&I, ensuring they are completed on time, within budget, and effectively communicated to stakeholders.
  • Execute Power Network Studies: Work on projects for grid operators and industrial facilities, including simulations (85% of your time), laboratory tests (15%), and field measurements, along with data post-processing.
  • Build Strong Relationships: Collaborate closely with colleagues and clients, including grid operators, academic and industrial partners, and various business lines within the ENGIE Group.
  • Perform Root Cause Analysis & Design Reviews: Engage in multidisciplinary teams to analyse and review designs, ensuring high-quality outcomes.

Your profile as Power Network Engineer

 

  • Educational Background: Hold an industrial or civil engineering degree with a specialization in electricity or electro-mechanics, and have proven experience in the power network sector.
  • Passion for Expertise: Are you highly motivated to develop expertise in electrical power networks, power electronics, and electrical equipment? Enjoy working in diverse environments, including office settings, laboratories, and the field.
  • Technical Skills: Have strong experience or a willingness to develop skills in software tools like Matlab, Python, Simulink, DIgSILENT Power Factory, Opal-RT, NEPLAN, PSCAD, EMTP-RV, and more.
  • Customer Focus: Possess a strong customer focus with an awareness of economic and financial impacts. Experience in project organization (budget, timeline, resources), offer preparation, and technical presentations to external customers is a plus.
  • Language Proficiency: Master English (knowledge of Dutch and/or French is a bonus).
  • Willingness to Travel: Ready to travel for short missions within Belgium, the Netherlands, Europe, and beyond (LATAM or Middle East).
