About the Role: 

To plan the IT roadmap, and to lead and manage internal development and quality assurance across all Energy Supply interfaces and applications  To ensure that all changes are completed to time and quality in line with business objectives and priorities, and compliant with ES governance and group policies 

The role both  technical and  people focused and is required to  manage several skilled internal teams that  work independently or in collaboration t with external business units and solution partners. Performance will be measured against delivery success, meeting the needs of  Energy Supply, Group B2B Supply and Group IT goals are met. 

 

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Own and develop the plan for internal IT delivery aligned with strategy, change prioritisation and service delivery standards. 
  • Provide technical support and guidance to maintain effectiveness 
  • Maintain resource profiles, manage delivery 
  • Ensure the quality of deliverables is maintained through planning, regular code reviews, documentation and testing 
  • Identify ongoing improvements to the working practices and delivery mechanisms, and enact changes internally to deliver improved IT services.  
  • Maintain an IT Risk log and evidence mitigation activities and remediation planning. 
  • Communicate consistently to other Energy Supply departments on status, progress and achievements.  
  • Test & Quality Assurance Liaise closely with Data teams to align projects and strategies for BI Development (ingest and storage of source data into the CDH) 
  • People development, objectives reviews and direct line management of team members.  
  • Provide best practise frameworks, measures and tooling that enable and empower efficient delivery of change, maintenance and support tasks 
  • Act as a member of the technical design authority, ensuring consistent design and architecture within security policy  
  • Research, propose and change ways of working to align with Energy Supply goals 
  • Contribute to the IT application roadmap and technical roles required 
  • Contribute to the Data Strategy for Energy Supply  
  • Validate estimates, allocation and planning proposals, resolving conflicts and issues 
  • Manage the cost of the tools and technology employed by the teams under direction  
  • Maintain performance metrics for the teams under direction; e.g velocity, time to market, quality

 

Requirements:

  • A minimum of 5 years’ leadership experience in an IT discipline with a strong and proven ability in the people management  
  • Experience of strategic planning and resource management 
  • Strong track record in the successful delivery of IT solutions within the Energy Industry, coordinating development and test, and being responsible transition to in-production support, and for delivery of outcomes from project.. 
  • Management of programmes/ and or project plans with demonstrable successful deliveries to time and quality,  
  • Practical experience of architecting and maintaining an integration framework 
  • Has acted in the role of assurance, governance of solutions and delivery 
  • Experience in managing resources from external parties 
  • Experience of the challenges operating within matrix management structures is preferred with strong stakeholder management skills 
  • Previous roles have contained aspects of financial management (e.g. setting budgets, tracking spend) 

 

Qualifications:

  • IT / technical qualifications for supporting, maintaining and/or developing and integrating applications, eg Microsoft/AWS certifications, architecture ( TOGAF), ITIL / ITSM 
  • It Methodologies - e.g. Agile, SAFe, MoR  
  • Portfolio, Program or Project Management qualifications, e.g. Prince 2 or Agile PM  
  • Degree level (or equivalent) in a relevant discipline or specific related experience is expected but not essential
