Within GEMS’ Business Unit, the Business Platform GEM UK (‘BP UK’) is a highly skilled team of 50+ people developing and managing assets and portfolios related to power, gas and environmental products in the UK markets, actively supporting the country’s ambitious path to a net zero economy

 

About the Role: 

To forecast daily (gas) and half-hourly (electricity) consumption & generation of ENGIE Supply electricity and gas customers from long term through to within day.

Minimise balancing costs associated with Flexible Product customers by accurately forecasting at month ahead and beyond.

To drive improvement in demand forecasting systems and processes to ensure activities are best placed to deliver in line with business objectives.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Production of accurate and timely electricity and gas demand forecasts for ENGIE Supply customer consumption (electricity HH, NHH and UMS, gas DM and NDM) and export site production, including wind and solar farms.
  • Ensure customers are appropriately set up in the relevant forecasting systems and maintenance of portfolio consistency.
  • Improvement of forecasting accuracy by development and implementation of new techniques, methodologies, processes and services.
  • Provision of information to Sales teams for customers on flexible products to minimise balancing costs via reference volume setting & revision.
  • Management and validation of DM customer consumption data including daily NGG allocation validation.
  • Support Meter Data Management with DM meter query process – liaise with system operator regarding customer demand related issues (e.g. provision of DREN for failed metering equipment)
  • Analysis and reporting of forecasting performance and support wider LPM KPI reporting activity
  • Development and implementation of strategy for forecasting Bank Holiday and other shutdown periods.
  • Ensure complete set of documentation of forecasting processes and methodologies are maintained.
  • Provide support for forecasting activities delivered by the shift desk.
  • Management of external forecasting service providers and optimisation of related contracts.
  • Communication of industry modifications which may impact upon LPM activities
  • Provision of end of month data for unique sites and DRENS for billing, fast close for finance and data calculation for some customers.
  • Provision of ratchet information to Sales for daily metered sites.
  • Adherence to internal process and risk frameworks.

 

Requirements:

  • Sound knowledge of the UK electricity and gas markets and ENGIE UK Supply products.
  • Strong analytical and statistical analysis skills.
  • Highly numerate.
  • Proven ability to present information effectively.
  • Able to demonstrate a practical approach to problem solving.
  • Able to manage large sets of data.
  • Microsoft Office proficient, knowledge of Python and/or PowerBI (or equivalent) would be advantageous.
  • Proven ability to organise and produce work under tight deadlines.
  • Previous UK gas and/or electricity market/industry experience.
  • Demonstrated ability to succeed in a complex environment.
  • Previous team leader/management experience is advantageous.

 

Qualifications:

  • Degree level (or equivalent) in a relevant discipline or specific related experience.
