What You Can Expect

As our Equipment Operator 3rd Class, at Georgetown University you will be responsible for assisting in the safe, legal, reliable and cost-efficient operation and maintenance of campus utility production and distribution systems of steam, chilled water, condensate, and domestic water. Every day you will help operate, monitor, and maintenance all utility system equipment, as well as participate in repair, maintenance, installation and upkeep of all Central Plant equipment and work areas. And you will report to the Shift Supervisor.

 

 

What You’ll Bring

  • You possess a High School Diploma or equivalent with 3 years training or experience in trade practice of steam engineering.  Must operate intuitively from previous knowledge in troubleshooting gauges and instruments on equipment to bring about satisfactory operation
  • You must have a 3rd Class DC Steam Engineers License
  • You are capable of understanding and operating complex operation of high-pressure steam and chilled water systems which can be operated several ways depending on operational needs
  • You have experience checking chemical analysis of boiler, condensate return, chilled water and condenser water system.  Adjusting chemical treatment to specified ranges established by chemical treatment company
  • You will record and monitor equipment operating conditions and report or adjust as required to maintain safe and efficient operation
  • You know how to review operational manuals, technical manuals and plant procedures
  • You have experience working from drawings and are capable of systematically and logically locating the problem when drawings are not available; as well as analyze plant processes, recommend, and implement improvements
  • You can translate and communicate operational problems to all levels of management
  • You will work with others to detect problems and implements solutions
  • All other duties assigned

 

 

Additional Details

  • This role requires attendance at a worksite on a daily basis
  • This is a Night Shift position; hours are from 10pm to 6am Wednesday through Sunday
  • Must be available to travel domestically up to 10% of the time
  • Must possess a valid U.S. driver’s license; might drive company vehicle
  • Must be willing and able to comply with all ENGIE ethics and safety policies;
  • This position consist of 10% of outdoor work, while performing the duties of this job, the employee is exposed to weather conditions
  • Ability to meet highest attendance requirements
  • Ability to communicate effectively, both written and verbally.
  • Ability to handle multiple assignments on a timely basis with a high degree of accuracy
  • Ability to use personal computer, calculator
  • Willingness to develop technical proficiency in some software applications (Maximo, SAP, ADP etc.)
  • Ability to adhere to the highest safety standards
  • Designated as an emergency employee and must report to work regardless of the university’s operating status

 

 

Compensation

Hourly:  $40.66 USD hourly

Your position is part of a bargaining unit represented by 1199 SEIU-United Healthcare Workers East. Many of the terms and conditions of your employment, including but not limited to work scheduling, wages, vacation, sick leave, and other benefits, will be governed by a collective bargaining agreement (the “CBA”) between the Company and the union. 

 

This represents the average expected pay range for a qualified candidate.

Actual offered salary may depend on geography, experience, industry knowledge, education, internal pay alignment, or other bona fide factors.
