What You Can Expect

As the Attorney Specialist in Markham, Ontario, Canada for  ENGIE Canada Services LP’s (ENGIE) renewables organization you will be responsible for providing legal support in connection with the development, operation, maintenance and optimization of wind, solar, and other renewable assets in Canada. Everyday, you will report to the Legal Director to assist with financing and partnership management matters; assistance in overall compliance with federal, provincial and/or local laws and regulations; occasional assistance wit dispute or litigation management; and such other transactional and contractual matters for ENGIE and its Canadian affiliates as may be required from time to time.

 

 

What You’ll Bring

  • At minimum a Juris Doctorate (JD) or Batchelor’s of Law (LLB) from an accredited Canadian law school with a license to practice law in a Canadian province or territory (dual license in Canada and U.S is beneficial to the position). If not licensed in Ontario, be prepared to be licensed by the Law Society of Upper Canada in Ontario

  • A minimum of seven (7) years energy transactional experience, preferably with substantive experience in the electric power and utility services area, involving a variety of generation technologies
  • Expert knowledge in developing and executing comprehensive legal strategies and solutions to facilitate ENGIE and its Canadian affiliates commercial objectives
  • Proven experience drafting and negotiating a variety of commercial agreements (e.g. Confidentiality Agreements, MOUs, Power Purchase Agreements, Leases, Supply Agreements, EPC Agreements) along with others to support the development teams activities
  • Proven experience preparing and obtaining internal and partner approvals and authorizations, including by preparation of legal risk memos and participation in project or investment review meetings

 

 

Additional Details

  • This position will be Temporary for 12 months working a minimum of 40 hours a week
  • This position is eligible for ENGIE’s hybrid work policy; three days a week in office  
  • Must possess a valid license/clean driving record
  • Must be willing and able to comply with all ENGIE ethics and safety policies

 

 

Compensation

Hourly Range:  $110,100 - $161,000 CAD Salaried

 

This represents the average expected pay range for a qualified candidate.

 

Actual offered salary may depend on geography, experience, industry knowledge, education, internal pay alignment, or other bona fide factors.
