Global Energy Management & Sales (GEMS) is one of ENGIE’s Business Units. On February 1st[HB(EMS1] , the GEM BU becomes GEMS, Global Energy Management & Sales. This Business Entity, bringing together the B2B Supply and energy management activities, aims to develop new geographies for GEMS, in order to accelerate the supply and management of low-carbon energy for our customers, thus creating value for the Group.

 

We deliver services in supply and logistics management, asset management, risk management, market access management, while contributing to the market understanding, design and efficiency and developing market solutions to accelerate the energy transition.

GEMS manages one of the largest and most diversified energy portfolios in Europe, including electricity, natural gas, LNG, bulk commodities and environmental products.

 

 

WHAT WILL BE YOUR ROLE

 

Role

As a Power Scheduler, you will report to Head of GEMS Japan. You will contribute to the fulfillment of the missions APAC Power Business development ambition, Coordinating with multiple external and internal stakeholders globally.

 

 

Main activities

  • Responsible for scheduling operation for Japan Physical Power portfolio
  • Monitor physical power position and nominate bid into Japan Electricity Power Exchange (JEPX) Day-ahead market and settle the balance of positions with Transmission System Operator (TSO)
  • Submit Supply and Demand plan to the Organization for Cross-regional Coordination of Transmission Operators (OCCTO).
  • Facilitate any day-to-day delivery issues between trade counterparties.
  • Regulatory reporting to the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry (METI) and keep track for any update in regulatory environment
  • Being a primary contact with external counterparty incl. JEPX, TSO, METI and OCCTO for the relevant issues
  • Liaison internally with IT and back office to implement smooth scheduling operation. And improve efficiency of the trade cycle

  • Bachelor’s Degree or more with at least 1 or 2 years of working experience
  • Excellent attention to detail with both numerical and verbal precision
  • An effective team player and passionate about Energy trading
  • Knowledge and experience of Power market is a plus but not prerequisite

 

 

Technical skills

  • Ability to handle day-to-day operational issue independently and solve the problem in collaboration with the front office, IT and the back office
  • Attention to detail and problem solver
  • Able to work with time pressure with strict deadlines
  • Strong interest in energy – gas and power markets.
  • Advanced computer skill in Microsoft Office
  • Ability to multi-task and work under minimal supervision
  • Language: Japanese (in both written and speaking), basic English preferred but not essential.

 

 

Behavioral skills

  • Strong team player
  • Willingness to learn Japanese electric power system
