About the team

 

The chemistry team delivers specialized technical assistance services and develops and executes research projects in domains related to the primary and secondary water chemistry of PWR units and nuclear waste management. The team is also active in radiological measurements and develops activities in the dismantling of nuclear power stations.

Our activities are done in close collaboration with our customers. Our experts are frequently present on power plants sites; for measurement campaigns, on-site test and more,…

The team is active in multidisciplinary projects and works in close collaboration with other internal competence centers (Materials, Non-destructive testing…) to provide global technical solutions for its nuclear customers.  The team also has  a large international network: Our activities are mainly carried out in Belgium, but international missions can be part of the job.

 

 

What you’ll be doing

 

Your responsibilities as Nuclear Chemistry Expert

•      You play an active role in operational support and process development activities for primary and/or secondary water chemistry at nuclear power stations.

•      You are involved in developing activities relating to radiological and physicochemical characterisation in the framework of decommissioning activities.

•      You take action on-site (at ENGIE power stations or others) in Belgium.

•      You develop your own network within your field of experience.

•      You work together with expert colleagues in other disciplines to tackle more complex multidisciplinary problems, as well as with various experts in the field.

•      You convincingly present the results of your activities to local site management and to the relevant stakeholders.

•      Have a degree in Chemical Engineering (civil or industrial) or have equivalent experience in chemicals or radiological measurements.

•      Have, ideally, some industrial experience in a relevant domain (if you have worked with molten salts, this is a plus).

•      Show passion about technology and are able to transmit that passion to others.

•      Have strong analytical skills, are realistic and have a pragmatic approach.

•      Agree to combine desktop work (writing procedures and documentation) with field work (e.g. at the nuclear power plants of Doel and Tihange).

•      Have good communication skills and like working in a team.

•      Feel at ease interacting with personnel in the field.

•      Take a very practical approach and can provide in-depth technical and scientific support for your opinions.

•      Share your knowledge and enjoy lookingfor solutions with your colleagues.

•      Speak fluent French, Dutch and English; or you could bring your languages skills up to that level quickly.

•      Have the flexibility and are prepared to work on-site (including sporadic short trips abroad).

•      Have a customer focus; being creative and capable of solving complex problems, proposing high-added-value innovative solutions.

•      Work independently. You are punctual and can handle stress.
