Purpose

The Planning Engineer shall have overall responsibility for the management of the Plant O&M Planning. The primary responsibilities are to provide leadership for outage performance and continuous improvement of the work management process.

To liaison with the operations, maintenance and engineering departments to establish the maintenance schedule based on inspection & preventive maintenance cycles as specified by OEM’s. The schedule shall include detailed work plan, critical activities, milestone dates, resource loading, generate progress S-Curve, rolling program etc. The role shall also include periodic review and update of the schedule. You will also monitor the work schedule, highlight any critical activity that needs particular attention and discuss with O&M team to identify mitigating measures. You will have to coordinate with finance and the procurement team on the delivery of the equipment and materials on site.

 

Task & Responsibilities

Plan and prepare work instructions that provide direction to the Maintenance Department for corrective maintenance repairs, performance of preventive maintenance and surveillance, and the implementation of modifications

  • Responsible to ensure compliance of IMS.
  • Coordinate with maintenance teams, engineers, and other stakeholders to gather maintenance requirements and timelines
  • Conduct risk assessments and develop mitigation plans to address potential maintenance risks.
  • Conduct maintenance planning meetings to take progress minutes of meeting and provide input on scheduling and resource allocation.
  • Coordinate the planning of Routine Maintenance and act as a medium of change from reactive to proactive maintenance.
  • Review, develop and implement proven maintenance programs in preventive and predictive maintenance programs using SAP.
  • Core Job knowledge of power and desalination plant.
  • Must have demonstrable capabilities of cross functional competence in the field of basic engineering, project management and O&M activities.
  • Develop the Work Breakdown Structure, based on the scope of work, using MS Project
  • Follow-up, plan and coordinate recommendations from OEM technical information letters
  • Schedule all work packages, milestones and coded activities to roll up into the Project Level Schedule.
  • Identify and monitor performance of the activities on the Critical & Near-Critical paths.
  • Monitor cost expended to date for each reporting period.
  • Monitors the availability of spares to help maintain the work schedules.
  • Guide the maintenance team in developing maintenance activities on a range of major engineering components and systems in accordance with OEM Manuals.
  • Support to develop and implement new maintenance strategies like FMEA and RCM
  • Proficiency in using SAP, MS Project and use of MS programs.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

 

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Optional, Professional certification in maintenance management (e.g., CMRP, PMP).
  • Experience with predictive and preventive maintenance strategies.
  • Familiarity with environmental and safety regulations in the water and power plant industry.

 

Working Conditions:

  • Office-based with frequent site visits.
  • May require extended hours to meet maintenance schedules and address emergencies.
