Job purpose/mission 

EEA Benin is seeking a highly motivated, independent, creative, and experienced Head of Human Resources to drive the growth and development of the nascent Benin country team through innovative tactics and strategies. This person will report to the Managing Director initially and work closely with Heads of department to identify company talent, human resources and administrative needs and priorities, and execute on these. 

 

Roles and Responsibilities 

Delivering on strategy 

  • Ensure alignment between business operations and the HR practices and objectives as defined by the respective CoEs as well as country HR plans. 

  • Responsible for delivering a people driven service, aligning both people management and company needs to help drive our vision, mission, and values according to EEA policies and practices. 

  • Provide training, coaching, and advice to business leaders and senior executives on how the workforce supports the business strategy. 

  • Lead and manage recruitment plan for all in-country recruitment needs by continuing to hire exceptional and diverse talent, with efficiency, high quality, and a positive candidate experience. 

  • Manage performance of the in-country HR Team and HR budget. 

 

Culture and Team Engagement 

  • Coach employees and managers as they navigate employee relations processes and provide guidance, coaching, and/or training through the employee lifecycle. 

  • Provide feedback on HR services and issues to Country management teams and CoE's 

  • Lead and manage country specific IR/ER issues in collaboration with the Culture and Change CoE 

  • Act as the primary point person for employee relations ensuring compliance with all local labor laws and policies 

  • Iterate and improve onboarding and offboarding experiences that set employees up for success as they join EEA Benin. 

  • Manage engagement and team culture through annual engagement surveys and actioning the feedback provided 

  • Promote a culture of continuous improvement and learning by supporting employees through performance management cycles and reviews 

Policy and process compliance 

  • Create a consistent employee experience by being available with a quick turnaround time to resolution 

  • Ensure all hires and internal promotions/movements are managed according to the Compensation and Benefits processes and benchmarks.Ensure that our internal policies that support our people-forward approach are fully compliant with labor law in Benin,  

  • while building systems and processes to make all our HR functions nimble and efficient. 

  • Ensure alignment with the Compensation and Benefits strategy, principles, guidelines and EVP as defined by the Compensation and Benefits CoE (Centre of Expertise) 

 

HRIS Management 

  • Responsible for data integrity to enable data-driven insights relating to talent planning and development, and compensation and benefits initiatives. 

  • Manage employee contracts and stay abreast of industry trends, best practices, and Benin labour laws 

  • Manage employee data in accordance with the policies and processes at ENGIE Energy Access 

  • Management of the in-country payroll and benefits 

  • Continuously create a strong alumni community of former EEA employees for future sourcing requirements 

  • Support in implementing the EEA job grading framework and the accompanying salary structures as defined by the respective CoEs 

 

Office Administration 

  • Manage the EEA Benin administration team to ensure an efficient working environment for EEA Benin staff. 

  • Support the team with all logistical needs as may be required. 

  • Support with the follow up claims and reimbursement in regard to company assets

Knowledge & Skills: 

Experience 

  • 8-10 years minimum work experience implementing and leading Talent or Human Resources teams preferably with an international company with diverse teams. 

  • In depth understanding of Benin employment law 

  • Ability to manage an HR team at EEA Benin and to work closely with department leads on a global, multi-cultural team to define Talent needs. 

  • Outstanding written and verbal communications skills 

  • Outstanding planning and implementation skills 

  • Entrepreneurial spirit and collaborative nature 

  • Solution-oriented, critical thinker 

  • Proven organizational skills to succeed in a fast-paced environment. 

  • Tenacious and resilient.

Qualifications: 

  • Bachelor's Degree in HR or equivalent 

Technology: 

  • Proficiency in Microsoft office products, especially Word and Excel, as well as Google Docs 

  • Proficiency in HR systems and databases
