What You Can Expect
As the Wind Engineer II, you will support in depth resource assessment, preliminary layout design and optimization services for grid scale wind projects in the United States and Canada. You will do this by utilizing commercially available and proprietary tools (e.g., Openwind) along with the Company’s life cycle cost models for resource assessment and layout design and coordination with team members, development staff, and the procurement team regarding site needs and constraints.
- Optimize OEM and equipment selection and configuration decisions to achieve competitive solutions
- Design and manage project-specific, bankable resource measurement campaigns, ensuring quality control of collected data and extending short-term measurements to long-term using various MCP/MOS approaches
- Participate in discussions and negotiations with OEMs, EPCs, and provide advice to the Company’s business development leadership
- Lead asset operation and optimization activities, and conduct feasibility and front-end engineering design studies to provide cost-effective and value-creating solution alternatives
- Present solution alternatives and advise the Company’s management to facilitate sound and timely decisions
- Manage external resources on site specification, optimization, and preliminary design, and stay current on changing trends in the wind generation markets
- Scope, contract, and manage consultants and contractors for design and technical services as necessary
- Provide and advise on conceptual design configuration for development pipeline projects
- Capture and grow subject matter expertise in grid-scale wind generation using the Company’s tools and processes, and provide subject matter leadership in related tasks
- Share subject matter expertise within the Company’s organization, especially within the Grid Scale Renewables Team, to build institutional memory in North America
What You’ll Bring
- Bachelor’s degree in Atmospheric Science, Physics, Applied Mathematics, Statistics, Electrical Engineering, Civil Engineering, or Mechanical Engineering is required
- Minimum of two (2) years’ experience in a similar role with grid-scale wind resource assessment and preliminary layout design
- Experience with commercially available and proprietary tools (e.g., Openwind) for estimating and optimizing wind facilities
- Knowledge and experience in development and construction of power generation and storage assets in the United States
- Must be able to interpret production studies and use that information to advise on business development projects and activities
- Effective verbal and written communication skills, especially when interacting with outside stakeholders such as government agencies and local communities is an essential part of the role
Additional Details
- This role is eligible for our hybrid work policy
- This role requires attendance at a worksite on an as needed basis; must be available to travel domestically up to 15% of the time
- Must be willing and able to comply with all ENGIE ethics and safety policies
Compensation
Salary Range: $74,500 – $114,195 USD annually
This represents the average expected pay range for a qualified candidate.
Actual offered salary may depend on geography, experience, industry knowledge, education, internal pay alignment, or other bona fide factors.

In addition to base pay, this position is eligible for a competitive bonus / incentive plan.
