Context:

Within GEMS (Global Energy Management & Sales), Downstream Business Platform operates in direct contact with all suppliers activities in CWE and trading activities in GEMS. Downstream focused on managing risks of suppliers portfolio, for Giants, BtB and BtC segments. With the energy transition, Energy Supply is going through a revolution, managing Risks associated to supply activity requires modeling, process engineering, system engineering to keep up with market evolution.

Role:

Purpose of the Job

The Transformation PMO will act for the project leader on Supply Risk Management transformation program, making effective the deployment of systems and practices across the various Risk Management teams in BtoB, across the targeted geographies.

The Transformation PMO position provides support to the Downstream Business Leaders to ensure that the Supply Risk Management has proper operational processes & controls, people and systems in place to effectively support suppliers in CWE.

 

The position accomplishes this through a respectful, constructive and collaborative approach towards all Downstream teams, Supply BPs, and all the other GEMS BPs and ECs interacting with and/or supporting the BP Downstream, in compliance with GEMS policies and best practices.

 

Key Responsibilities

Management of Transformation Project for Supply Risk Management:

 

  • Planification of deployment of practices and systems with Risk Management teams, in accordance with their capacity to deliver
  • Delivery monitoring of the global transformation project
  • Organization of framing sessions for new use cases
  • Communication with GEMS EXCOM, Supply business leaders, Supply stakeholders, Supply Risk Management experts, Supply Management council

 

Operational efficiency in Supply Risk Management:

  • Continuous watch and advice/support to the BP Downstream leaders to keep the Supply Risk Management organization, processes and resources in line with its business ambitions and operational efficiency objectives.
  • Facilitation of the interactions with all GEMS ECs for an effective support and transparent dialogue with support & control functions.
  • Facilitation/coordination of internal interactions with other GEMS BPs and Group Entities to find and implement business and operational synergies.
  • Keeps the Cluster Business Leaders informed of all operational matters of importance.

Context:

The Weather & Energy Solutions (WES) is a dedicated trading desk in charge of managing the weather risks of the ENGIE Group's BUs and supporting the development of GEMS commercial activity around weather derivatives.

In addition to its privileged position as the unique trading interface of ENGIE Group on the weather markets, WES contributes to improving the Group's financial performance through its weather risk outsourcing mission in a global business model that is increasingly sensitive to weather risks with the development of renewable energy production. We are looking for a 12-month work-study student starting in September 2024.

Role:

 

Within WES, the role of the Weather & Energy Structurer is to:

  • Provide our clients with a deep knowledge of their weather risks by analyzing, representing and quantifying their risks structure.
  • Assist and advise our clients in defining, designing and implementing various strategies to reduce their weather risks.
  • Structure and trade weather hedges on behalf of our clients, in collaboration with capacity providers and traders.
  • Monitor and explain to our clients the performance of the weather hedges and offer continuous improvement of their coverage throughout the covered period.
  • Develop and improve our modeling and pricing IT tools.
  • Contribute to develop and improve our risk methodological corpus: working with Market Risk to improve temperature autocorrelation model and enhance the Risk Framework.
  • Exploring new hedging strategies and onboard new capacity providers.
  • Participate to transversal projects and expert groups aiming to drive a consistent transformation of the weather risk management activities within the Group.
  • Comply with GEMS internal procedures and compliance policies.
  • This is a front office role, working in a dynamic trading floor environment and in close collaboration with internal stakeholders.

 

Hard skills:

  • Must have:
    • Proficient in Object-Oriented Programming
    • Proficient in Python 3.7 (Numpy, Pandas, Sklearn, Seaborn) and Excel VBA
    • Remarkable experience using Jupyter Notebook, Pycharm and GitHub

Context:

The B2B Supply Credit risk Analyst role is part of EC Risk, the Risk Division of GEMS and will be managing credit risk resulting from the Supply activity covering BtoB France Platform (“E&C” hereafter). Main responsibility is to overview the creditworthiness of E&C portfolio and manage the credit risk exposure accordingly (credit risk mandate, overdue monitoring…). The economic environment is also key and needs also to be followed.

 

Role:

Credit Analysis

  • In-depth credit analysis of E&C major clients (analysis of the financials, sector analysis, market & environment, peers and SWOT analysis)
  • Rating recommendation and validation in ECR rating tool
  • Recommendation including credit conditions on the request submitted
  • Communication of any relevant negative news on clients
  • Monitoring and follow up of the Client’s credit exposure on clients and effective implementation or monitoring of credit mitigants.

 

Contribute to the E&C risk management governance

  • Update the E&C risk policy and sections related to credit risk.
  • Review the credit delegation scheme of E&C
  • Support the presentation of the related charts / dashboard in E&C Risk Committee
  • Support on ad-hoc analysis and projects within the Finance & Risk teams.

 

Key activities carried out by the Credit Risk function include:

  • Redaction and follow-up of the GEMS Risk Policy
  • Review of Supply contracts and related credit clauses

What will you do?

Under the supervision of the origination manager and in collaboration with our commercial expertise center, you will further develop our commercial franchise of cross-commodity, structured, and standard products while managing a geographical portfolio of counterparts.

What will you be in charge of?

•            Monitoring and improving the profitability as well as the client satisfaction of each commercial relationship.

•            Developing the portfolio of counterparts by screening and onboarding new prospects.

•            Mastering what Engie can offer to tailor-make solutions that exceed clients' expectations.

•            Understanding the entire GEM Italy client portfolio, as well as the relevant market participants and market structure

•            Show prices, enable, and drive complex transactions from conception to closure.

•            Encourage and participate in the ongoing development of our operational procedures and tools in order to achieve greater scope, flexibility, and size.

•            Comply with the Compliance & Ethics framework, Engie Group rules, and applicable local requirements

 

What will you bring to Engie?

•            At least 2 years of experience as a front officer in the energy industry (sales, trading, origination, or structuring)

•            An academic degree in business, economics, finance,  engineering or other quantitative disciplines

•            A deep understanding of the power and gas European market fundamentals , its structures and players

•            Good knowledge of the Italian market's specificities

•            Familiarity with industry master agreements (Efet, isda, etc) and advanced knowledge of commodity products

•            Strong stakeholder management skills with the experience necessary to take the lead on cross-desk activities and bring deals from idea conception to closure

•            Experience with the structuring, valuation, negotiation and execution of asset-backed or other structured commodity transactions

•            A client-centered approach is essential.

•            The ability to navigate technical and regulatory changes in the local market to leverage market gaps and find opportunities

•            Good risk management skills, including market, credit and legal risk

•            Excellent communication skills. Fluency in English and in Italian.

•            The AMF certification is considered an advantage.

•            Deal making skills: quick decision maker, driven by results

Travel to European countries to meet counterparts might be frequently needed. Potential travels between offices within the region might be required.

Contexte:

L’équipe d’analyste quantitative basée à Paris (« Gas & Oil ») travaille avec les desks de Trading de GEMS, principalement sur les sujets liés au Gaz. Elle fournit différents éléments au Trading :
- des prototypes utilisés pour l’analyse des positions, pour le pricing de nouveaux deals et pour le monitoring du marché.
- des modèles stochastiques, implémentés dans la librairie de pricing officielle et utilisés au quotidien de manière intensive pour les calculs de PnL et les analyses de risque des portefeuilles d’Engie.
- une capacité d’analyse technique pour aider le Trading à mieux appréhender les problèmes divers qu’il peut rencontrer dans son activité quotidienne.


L’équipe est constituée d’environ 10 Quants. Elle interagit avec les équipes de Trading, mais aussi avec les autres équipes de Quants (certains outils sont par exemple développés conjointement avec l’équipe de Quants spécialisée dans le Power basée à Bruxelles), ainsi qu’avec l’équipe des IT Quants.


Rôle:

En tant qu’apprenti.e au sein de l’équipe, vous serez en charge :
✓ Interagir régulièrement avec les traders pour mieux comprendre leurs besoins business et leur fournir un support quantitatif adapté dans le cadre de leurs activités quotidiennes, définir leurs besoins en termes de modèles et les traduire en développements concrets.
✓ Interagir avec les autres Quants pour échanger sur les modèles, avec pour but de faire émerger de nouvelles idées et tirer parti du partage de connaissances avec les pairs.
✓ Développer dans la librairie de pricing officielle (en C#) en suivant les règles générales et normes de codage, afin de produire un code de qualité.
✓ Développer des outils de pricing « ad hoc » et des prototypes utilisés par le Front Office, en s’appuyant dans la mesure du possible sur la librairie de pricing.
✓ Collaborer avec d’autres Quants et équipes de GEMS (IS, Risk Methodo, …).


Début de la mission : septembre 2024 pour une durée minimale de 12 mois.

 

Competences techniques:

• Connaissances approfondies en probabilités, calcul stochastique et analyse numérique.
• Bonnes connaissances en finance quantitative et théorie des options seraient un vrai plus.
• Bonnes compétences en programmation orientée objet (C#, Python) pour développer des prototypes et des modèles de façon autonome.

• Esprit d’analyse et de synthèse, rigueur, réactivité, autonomie, bonnes capacités rédactionnelles.
• Capacité à expliquer et à porter des messages liés à des problèmes complexes.


Savoir-être:

Parcours académique et expériences:

• BAC+5 en université ou école d’ingénieur avec une spécialité en mathématiques financières.

Langues:

• Un bon niveau d’anglais est requis pour le poste.

Context:

The French company Engie Global Markets (EGM) is MIFID licensed as investment firm and regulated in France, Belgium, Singapore and Italy. As such, the firm must comply with several regulatory requirements.

Capital Performance Management (CPM) department is managing the regulatory framework.

The CPM team is in charge of maintaining the global framework on capital requirement (EGM) and supports origination business with Economic Value Analysis (EVA) in interaction with front office (GEMS activities).

The position is based in Paris La defense.

 

Reporting to Head of Credit & Transversal Risk (Brussels).

Role:

The analyst will be responsible for: 

  • Updating ICAAP reporting and analysis.
  • Support Front Office on delivery of EVA’s for Origination Committee.
  • Update tools related to reportings (model design, validation process).
  • Update supervisory reportings (ICAAP report, Recovery Plan, Resolution reporting, quarterly reporting on financials)
  • Collaborating with the legal department in case of specific deals (proposition of clauses).
  • Participating to transversal tasks such as:
    • Contribution to risk mitigators (optimization of cost of credit)
    • Contribution to new products (impact on capital requirement)
    • Contribute to teaching in Academies (Risk Academy, School of Structuring)
    • Supporting the management in handling some projects (new branch, portfolio transfer) or regulatory tasks

 

Hard skills:

  • Must have:
    • Experience In Capital Management (CRD/IFR)  for bank or regulated investment firms
    • Strong analytical and quantitative skills
    • Able to develop a tactical tool using one of those IT languages (python, VBA, SQL) and open to “low code” tools (Dataiku).
    • Proficient in writing and delivery of presentation.  
    • Accuracy, quality and timeliness of deliverables.

Context:

You will join the Trading Surveillance team within the Risk Expertise Center.

This transversal team is composed of 8 analysts monitoring GEMS trading activity worldwide (except the US-based one) on all traded commodities. The team is in charge of designing, developing, operating trading surveillance solutions on a daily basis and managing processes to comply with the regulations concerning market abuse and algorithmic trading, in collaboration with other functions (mainly Legal, Compliance, Front-Office).

 

Role:

 

  • Develop the global trading surveillance system that allows to integrate data (orders, trades, events,...) and recognize, prevent and report suspicion of market manipulation.
  • Create prototype alerts then industrialize them in the core big data surveillance tool with the support of a dedicated IS team.
  • Investigate/Escalate automated daily alerts and perform spot checks. Challenge front officers on their trading practices (Internal Request For Information or investigations).
  • Contribute to the awareness and guidelines on best practices considering regulatory developments and business changes, in close collaboration with Front-Officers, Legal and Compliance
  • Analyze and validate algorithmic trading tools and strategies and elaborate securities in relation with IS and business teams.
  • Support Legal/Compliance teams with analysis in case of external inquiries.

 

Hard skills:

  • Must have: Excellent practical ability to analyze/process multiple data and information sources, understand markets, products and trading strategies, acquired through a first professional experience. Practice of office tools and management of databases (SQL, AWS, Azure, APIs,...). Good Python coding skills.

 

  • Good to have: first experience linked to Energy markets or Market Conduct regulations or Trading surveillance activities.

Context:

We're looking for a Biomass Market Analyst in V.I.E to support the ambitious growth of our Biomass Business, and specifically develop analytics and build market analysis on this niche market in development, to help in decision making and communication purpose.

 

Role:

  1. Feed our energy market intelligence platform EnergyScan with news and comments on the Biomass market
  2. Collect data and knowledge to build and maintain a biomass supply/demand balance and a forecast for specific zones in collaboration with BP Biomass traders and EC GMA analysts
  3. Provide pertinent graphs and spread prices useful for portfolio management decisions and commercial pitch (freight prices, US-EU spread, Dark/Spark spread vs ‘Bark spread’, fiber prices)
  4. Define and compute breakeven prices based on production costs in key countries (US, Portugal, Vietnam, Baltic)
  5. Provide analysis/research on public support and subsidies schemes in the EU and Asia
  6. Watch on regulatory topics for Physical Biomass Market and impacts on market prices and product liquidity (example RED II, EUDR)
  7. Provide market analysis and watch on Biofuel Market in Europe
  8. Provide occasionally ad hoc studies on specific activities, as we’re currently launching the development/Commercial expansion of Biomass for Industrial segments

 

 

Education and professional background:

  • Master degree or PhD in relevant area (energy, economics, engineering, etc..)
  • A previous experience in the energy/commodity sector and/or a trading environment is a plus
