Your mission
 

 

As Geotechnical Lead Engineer in our Infrastructures department, you will contribute to our mission every day by playing a crucial role in delivering top-notch geotechnical expertise for various infrastructure projects in Belgium and internationally.

You will be responsible for managing project studies and implementation, ensuring technical excellence, and contributing to the professional growth of junior engineers.

 

Your key responsibilities

 

  • Coaching, motivating, and collaborating with small, multidisciplinary project teams of engineers (geotechnics, civil engineering, etc.) to deliver outstanding results.
  • Determining project needs and selecting procedures for:
    • Soil investigations (geotechnical, geophysical, hydrogeological, geological).
    • Foundation techniques (pile foundations, soil improvement, steel foundations).
    • Stability issues (retaining walls, slope stability).
  • Performing calculations and drawing up technical specifications for geotechnical solutions.
  • Interpreting soil investigation results and conducting terrain modeling as well as soil-structure interaction analyses.
  • Ensuring projects are completed on time, within budget, and according to quality standards, while adhering to H&S regulations and our internal quality system.
  • Actively participating in the training and development of young engineers to foster a culture of continuous learning.   

 
We would love to hear from people with  

 

  • A degree in civil or industrial engineering (civil, mining/geotechnical).
  • At least 10 years of experience in geotechnical engineering and a strong background in calculations.
  • Proficiency in geotechnical software (Plaxis, Flac, D-Sheet, Foxta) or the willingness to learn.
  • Demonstrated expertise in soil research, foundation techniques, and geotechnical stability solutions.

PRESENTATION OF RENEWABLE GASES EUROPE

 

RENEWABLE GASES EUROPE (RGE) is ENGIE’s business entity responsible for the development of renewable and low carbon gases[1] production in Europe. Since 2015, ENGIE has been developing biomethane production activity. At the beginning of 2023, its portfolio includes 26 plants in operation, of which 19 are self-operated, with a total production capacity of 550 GWh/y @100% and a development pipeline of 1.4 TWh/y.

ENGIE is determined to become a leading player in 1G[2] biomethane in Europe. The ambition is to grow rapidly to reach 10 TWh/y of biomethane production capacity by 2030.

In Europe, outside France, biomethane production projects are already under development in the United Kingdom, the Netherlands, Belgium, Germany, Poland and Italy. Spain, Portugal and Romania are other countries of interest. The strategy is to develop projects, greenfield and through M&A, to inject biomethane into the gas grid or to produce bioLNG.

POSITION IN THE ORGANIZATION

Under the responsibility of the Head of Engineering, the Discipline Manager Process reports functionally to the Engineering Director.

 

ACTIVITIES

The Discipline Manager Process is responsible for the following activities:

 

Set up and manage the process team

  • Under the responsibility of the Head of Engineering, recruit and integrate process engineers - in collaboration with HR team.
  • Manage the process team across the different engineering offices (all types of mechanical, biological and gaz processes used in RGE activities)
  • Ensure the development of team competencies, in coordination with HR & Talents, through training, work experience and career development

 

Ensure the production of process engineering deliverables for RGE projects :

  • Manage the process team workload and the adequate mobilization of engineers in project teams (teams reporting operationally to the project manager), at all stages of a project (development, design & procurement, construction&commissioning) to :
    • Perform Preliminary, Basic & Detailed Process Design including equipment design or specification, and sizing, production of heat and material balances, PFDs, P&Ids, preparation of process and equipment specifications and data sheets, drafting of commissioning and operating manuals...
    • Review / validate contractors’ and suppliers’ detailed design and plans for commissioning and tests
    • Follow up during construction&commissioning, supporting project team with site queries, interface management and change management
    • Ensure that the performance of plants is properly calculated and stretched in compliance with the project’s business plan

 

  • Depending on the project needs and the process team size, the Discipline Manager Process can have to produce himself all types of tasks related to project process engineering

 

Ensure the industrialization of RGE projects and engineering reliability throughout the project life cycle :

  • Integrate industrialization into project design: develop standard P&ID, Hazop, etc
  • Put in place the methods, processes, tools including digital tools guaranteeing the quality of the process engineering produced together with the respect of the project’s business plan, costs, and schedule
  • Ensure that above all, Health & Safety aspect of existing and new technologies shall systematically be taken into account in the process design
  • Ensure capitalization of lessons learned and continuous improvement of process engineering standards and practices

 

LOCATION

La Defense, regular travel to other engineering offices (in the netherlands about one week per month) or project sites may be required (in Europe)

Apart from the Engineering team, the Discipline Manager Process will interact with, among others:

  • Management of RGE
  • RGE teams Europe :  Project Management, Industrialization, Business Development, Operation, Procurement …

CANDIDATE PROFILE

 

The Discipline Manager Process shall have the following competences and experience:

Degree and experience:

  • M.S. degree in chemical engineering or equivalent
  • At least 15 years’ experience in process engineering positions in energy / water/waste treatment / process industry in an EPC contractor company
  • Experience with working in a project-oriented culture, based on collaborative, agile and innovative ways of working
  • At least 5 years’ experience in team management

 

Languages:

  • Fluent in English
  • French and other languages are a plus

Skills:

  • Leadership
  • Multicultural team management ; Good understanding of cultural differences and ability to manage them
  • Strong interpersonal and relationship/cooperation skills

CONTEXT

The Renewable GBU has launched in 2022 the IMS (Integrated Management System) program. This program aims at reviewing/re-engineering the main processes of the whole Value Chain of Renewables (Business Development, Engineering, Procurement, Construction, O&M/asset Management, H&S, Risk Management, Contract Management).

The Program is a crucial backbone for the future of the R-GBU, and is directly sponsored by the R-GBU Executive Team. It is structured by Business streams and transversal streams, one being the Digital Stream.

After 9 months of scoping in the IMS Program, the Digital Program aims at delivering the roadmap for the next 3 years and the digital ambition of the R-GBU.

In this context, the Digital team of the R-GBU is looking for a digital / IS Lead. You will be part of R-GBU global IS team and work together with many stakeholders across the R-GBU to make this happen.

 

 

DEFINITION OF THE ROLE

Mission:

Main Activities & Responsibilities:

  • Co-construct the vision of the components and contribute to the value for money definition
  • Architecture, Design and lead the implementation team of the Product
  • Interact with the various components of R-GBU digital team (architecture, data,  cybersecurity, delivery, cloud & infra, change management, PMO…) to ensure alignment with our global strategy, digital ecosystem and project governance
  • Manage the whole digital lifecycle of the product, from scoping to maintenance and support in synchronizing with Product Owners
  • Ensure the execution of the product vision and the roadmap and lead the IS team around the project
  • Build/Buy and deploy the products required to support the Business Development and the Engineering, Procurement and Construction
  • Contribute to the build and deployment of the backbone of the RGBU to manage the asset life cycle and related Data (Referential) from origination to end of life
  • Maintain the backlog and provide roadmap according to prioritization
  • When relying on market solution, help to select the right one from tendering to contracting
  • Communicate with the product owner, stakeholder, users, clients and management about project progress, risk and mitigation actions

En tant qu’Expert Data Management, sous la responsabilité du Chief Data Officer, vos missions principales sont les suivantes : 
•    La valorisation et la promotion du patrimoine Data de GRDF
•    L’accompagnement et la montée en compétence des acteurs de l’écosystème data  
•    La réalisation et/ou la coordination de travaux data centric. 

Votre rôle sera stratégique et divers. 
Vous valorisez et promouvez le patrimoine Data de GRDF de diverses manières tout en facilitant la connaissance (cartographie) et les cas d’usages du patrimoine.
Votre positionnement est essentiel. Il s’agit d’avoir un réel rôle de Business Partner de la DSI et des métiers afin de générer de la valeur de l’entreprise. Il vous sera également demandé d’identifier et de réaliser des chantiers permettant de faire de la Data un levier de performance

De plus, vous accompagnez et assurez la montée en compétences des acteurs de l’écosystème Data de GRDF en
•    Evaluant la maturité des acteurs/directions/applications
•    Acculturant la  data à destination de la DSI et des métiers (animation d’événements, modules de formation, partage des bonnes pratiques de data quality/gouvernance …)
•    Intervenant sur la mise en place des démarches de mise en qualité des données, la conformité aux règlementations de protection des données, l’urbanisation et architecture fonctionnelle

En complément des missions précédentes, vous réalisez et coordonnez les travaux data. Vous avez pour objectif le pilotage aux projets d’entreprise orientés Data.
•    Vous contribuez à l’élaboration, au portage et à l’évolution du cadre de la gouvernance Data.
•    L’animation et la participation aux différentes instances du cadre de gouvernance est importante. 
•    Pour finir, vous participez, rédigez des « positions papers » (data mesh, référentiels, sourcing des données …) et feuilles de routes (data catalogue …) et assurez une veille réglementaire.
 

Etes-vous notre futur Data Manager ?
Vous êtes diplômé d’un bac+5 minimum en Informatique et possédez au minimum 5 ans d’expérience en Data Management et des compétences en gestion de projet et/ou BI (modélisation).

Au-delà de ces prérequis, il est essentiel d’avoir une bonne capacité à appréhender les sujets sous un angle technologie et métier. De nombreuses interactions sont prévues avec l’ensemble des acteurs de l’écosystème Data.

•    Les softskills sont essentielles, le futur Data Management doit posséder d’excellentes qualités relationnelles, d’animation et coordination transverse. Mais également une capacité d’écoute, de synthèse, et de communication orale et écrite.
