 About the role 

 The Head of Regulations is a senior role, reporting to ENGIE’s UK Director of Regulation, Public Affairs, ESG & CSR. You will work closely with senior colleagues in ENGIE’s B2B business based in Leeds, including the Managing Director of Supply.  

 The purpose of this role is to ensure that relevant future regulatory policies are designed in a way that allows ENGIE to continue to provide a high quality of service to our business customers, as efficiently as possible.

Key Accountabilities

 

  • Engage with senior officials at Ofgem and the Department for Energy Security and Net Zero (DESNZ) to communicate ENGIE’s position on high priority regulatory and public policy changes under consideration.  
  • Develop credible and well-evidenced positions, in close collaboration with B2B business stakeholders.  
  • Work closely with the regulatory team and colleagues working in renewables, flexible generation, origination, trading and networks to ensure that ENGIE’s positions are holistic and coherent.  
  • Build relationships with colleagues doing similar roles in other jurisdictions, to share best practice and drive continuous improvement. 
  • Provide written briefings for senior colleagues – including ENGIE’s UK CEO – for external meetings.   

Skills and Experience

  

  • Extensive experience working in the energy sector 
  • Proven experience engaging effectively at a senior level internally and externally  
  • Understanding of regulatory frameworks and how to best navigate them 
  • Commercially astute and customer focussed, with  
  • Highly effective communicator, orally and in writing  
  • Highly collaborative, with a track record of working with internal and external stakeholders to achieve positive outcomes for customers  
  • Courageous and empathetic, being willing to challenge where appropriate, but also see things from others’ perspectives
