About the Role

 

The External Communication Manager will be responsible for developing and executing communication strategies to enhance the ENGIE’s public image, manage media relations, and engage with external stakeholders.

The role can be based anywhere in the UK but aligned to ENGIE offices in London where you may need to work from a couple of days a week. This permanent role reports to the UK Head of Corporate Communications and will be responsible for developing and delivering an external communications strategy for ENGIE UK.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement external communication strategies that align with ENGIE’s goals and objectives
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with key media contacts, respond to media inquiries, and proactively pitch stories to generate positive coverage.
  • Produce high-quality content for press releases, media kits, blog posts, social media, and other external communication channels.
  • Ensure consistency in brand messaging across all external communications and maintain the company's voice and tone.
  • Engage with various external stakeholders, including customers, partners, and the community, to foster positive relationships and enhance the company’s reputation.
  • Plan and manage press conferences, media briefings, and other public events
  • Monitor and report on the effectiveness of communication strategies and campaigns, providing insights and recommendations for improvement.

 

Knowledge and skills:

 

  • Strong media relations experience
  • Established media relationships
  • Excellent writer with an ability to make the complex simple
  • Ability to work at pace within a complex matrix environment
  • Experience in a multinational organisation
  • Degree or formal qualification in relevant subject

Experience:

 

  • Strong interpersonal skills with ability to liaise with colleagues at all levels, including senior leadership
  • Proactively implement initiatives in line with the corporate plan, with the ability to work independently
  • Strong logistical / planning skills to organise events across the UK
  • Excellent IT skills including using Content Management Systems, social media tools and web analytics
