Emmanuelle Mörch

Emmanuelle Mörch competed in the French Open wheelchair tennis tournament. In the singles, she lost the first round to Lizzy De Greef. In the doubles, she played alongside the French number one: Pauline Déroulède... and the girls lost in a closely fought match: 7-5 / 1-6 / 3-10.

After that Grand Slam, Emmanuelle competed in the French Riviera Open in Nice. She won the first round 6-3 / 2-6 / 6-4 against Macarena Cabrillana (ranked number 19 in the world). She went on to lose in the elimination round to world number one Diede De Groot (6-1 / 6-2), who eventually won the tournament.

Wilfried Happio

Wilfried Happio was in Rome in early June for the European Athletics Championships and competed in the men's 400 m hurdles and the mixed 4x400 metre relays. In the relays, the French team was disqualified for a takeover outside the takeover zone. Wilfried also had bad luck in the hurdles following his memorable performance in the semi-finals: despite a season’s PB of 48’’55, the Lille-born athlete failed to qualify in the finals.

After these mixed results, Wilfried registered for two meets: he finished first in Troyes in a time of 48’’90. Then two days later in Turku (Finland), he finished third in 48’’76. Competing in two races so close together was an opportunity for him to get used to running on tired legs in the run-up to the Olympics this summer.

Next on the list for this sprinter will be defending his title at the French Outdoor Elite Athletics Championships in Angers (28-30 June), which he has held since 2019. He then has a couple of Diamond League meets lined up – Paris on 7 July, and then London on 20 July – before this summer’s main event in Paris.

Elodie Clouvel

There hasn't been much let-up this season for pentathlete Elodie Clouvel. Following various World Cup heats, she finished in eighth place in the finals in Ankara in early June.

No rest for the Team ENGIE athlete who then took on the World Championships. She finished sixth in the qualifying heats and then 10th in the “B” semi-finals, which wasn't enough to get through to the actual finals (only 18 athletes did).

But it was enough to qualify her for this summer’s Games – her third Olympics in a row! Well done Elodie.

Axel Mazella, Alex Caizergues

As usual, kiteboarders Axel Mazella and Alex Caizergues were at the first stage of the ENGIE Kite Tour in Fréjus. On Friday morning, they talked to primary schoolchildren from the town about their experiences. They then spent the weekend out on the water. Alex Caizergues won the directional board event, while Axel Mazella finished fourth in the kitefoil event having missed four launches.
